Is chocolate powder the same as 'hot chocolate mixture'? I could not find a sweetened chocolate powder at any of the stores in their baking isles...just the hot chocolate mixture (which is sweetened and already has the milk part in it already so you'd add it to hot water to make hot chocolate). Would that work too? Thanks for the wonderful recipes.
@usa2008egypt : We use Nesquik (It is a chocolate flavored powder which you put in milk to make chocolate milk). It is available at most grocery stores.
@FlREMAGIC OMG what?? I'm so sorry...I didn't post that comment someone hacked into my account I guess...Anyways...for your information I LOVE LOVR LOVR (999x) these guys...I havent posted that comment I swear to god and I'm so sorry! And I've deleted that comment anyways...AND I've changed my password and I'm sorry!
@aditi1998 Ohkay.. ^^ If that is the case then is ok sorry for being rude to you too, Sorry. Glad that you've changed you password and stuffs.. Hope that you will find out who did tht LOLs ^^
@FlREMAGIC aww its okay but i still havent found out who it is...and thx 4 apologizing! I know a few people who just turn out to be ruder than before when I reply lol
i luved the recipe.. specially the parle-g buiscuits!! but just wanted to ask u bout an alternative of corn starch.. can i put cream or maybe egg in place of corn starch??
Cocoa powder is not sweetened. Chocolate powder is the drinking type which has added sugar, milk, etc. Grinding a chocolate bar will be messy and will not give you a nice dry powder.
i tried it some aloterations...can make that too....i used custard mixture...with the biscuits layered with strawberry jam. came out awesome....can try out. thanks for the recipe
I MADE THIS and it was YUMMIE!!!! Unbelievably good. I had some cut priced biscuits (32p Tesco) and the rest in the panty. The biscuits even with that quick dipping in milk, softened and became cakey. I had some toffee sauce left over so added a layer of that. Kids wolfed it down.
I LOVE Majula but I also LOVE Show Me The Curry. Both have so much to offer and both have made me make so many new and different recipies for my family. Thanks so much.
are you guys copying manjula's kitchen as she make the same receipes way before you show.....ur going too fast in showing the receipes.....manjula's kitch shows us very slow
As there are a thousand ways to prepare the same dish, there really is no need for anyone to copy anyone else. We're quite certain Manjula Aunty is a fabulous cook.
@ambubhai my friends mother made a similar dish. this was when i was in india and that too 30 years ago! she used marie biscuits and condensed milk and nuts. does that mean that Aunty Manjula copied that lady?
i have another recipe really simillar to this can you pleassssssse try it, youll love it.you need unsalted crackers a bowl and the same chocolate mixture.dip the crackers in the mixture until it get a little soft, layes it on to the bowl than keep it in the fridge for a little while...................hope u guys try it.............:)
We wanted to take a picture of it first so we didn't cut it, but if you look at the picture at the very end of the video, you'll see how it looks when cut. If the recipe doesn't work, we don't bother showing it :).
The last photo is less than a second long, and was a struggle with the pause button to hold it. Well, well, if you see the photo the discuits still look white and hence dry. A cake is to be moist and not dry and crunchy and crumbly as it looks. Being an engineer and having cookery as a hobby, my review is not superficial, rather quite piercing. I definitely believe the recipe needs improvements.
Sure you are doing a great job with the cookery lessons, keep going, we enjoy it very much, thanks.
We assure you that the cake is nowhere near "dry". The biscuits are white because that's the color they are on the inside and also, they have been soaked in milk. The chocolate sauce does not penetrate the biscuits so they remain white. This does not mean that they are dry on the inside.
I tried this last Friday and it was amazing, everyone at my home loved it. Thanx a lot for the recipe...You guys are doing a great job..Keep it up and all the very best!!!!
Thank you for these wonderful recipes. I've made some of your desserts, and my friends loved them. Please make more desserts with coconut. By the way where can you buy the glucose biscuits? Iam going to try this recipe next. AND if I can't find them what can I use as a substitute?
The glucose biscuits (common brand: Parle-G) is available at most Indian grocery stores. We have tried this with Marie biscuits, but the results were not as good. We have not tried any other type of biscuits.
Thanks for the encouragement! We have tried this recipe with Marie biscuits, but the results were not as good. The Parle G biscuits are easily available at most Indian grocery stores.
CORNSTARCH: is a starch made from grain and is used as a thickener in gravies, puddings and pies.
CORN FLOUR: There is also corn flour product in the US. (I use it to coat food for frying)It is used to flavor baked goods and adds nutrition. It is gluten and wheat-free. It's the finest grade of cornmeal. Made from flour corns, it contains very little protein and is practically pure starch, making it a good thickener. It also contains fat and fiber, while cornstarch does not.
In the US, it is called corn starch and in India, corn flour - both are the same. We use the term "corn starch" so people don't confuse it with "corn meal" which is actually flour made from dried corn.
Dipping the biscuit in the milk helps soften it up and the sauce is the binding factor. Hence, making it easy to cut (like a cake) and it is like a cake.
When they said their names all I heard was "Hi, I'm Pickle" "and I'm a ninja" lol

this doesn't look like it will end up with a cake/pie consistency.. how do you cut & serve this?
jingabobo 2 years ago
It is more of a pudding consistency. You do need a fork or a spoon to eat it. Try not to make it too high though.
