It's true that Hollywood has more money and can do more for Special Effects, but if Indian cinema doesn't have the money, they shouldn't attempt things that are "half-baked". That being said, the special effects weren't particularly horrible in this movie...I have more of a complaint with Asin's overacting (which I've usually linked to Bollywood and not Tamil actresses...guess it's drifting over) and the eccentric storyline. This beginning scene though is incredible.

hmm this movie was great, but it wasnt as amazing as people say. Kamal's acting was astonishing, no joke. And the movie's story, and morals was really nice as well; unforgettable. Though, the movie was too westernized, the action scenes were definately overdone, computer graphics were nasty, and the movie was way too long and a bit random. The story/meaning/moral of the story, though it is all great, isnt too easy to grasp without being contemplated on for a while.

well i think that dasavatharam nailed it.its perfect with its imperfections.everyone acted and carried out so well.kamal is astounding. while knowing that he is an excellent actor i couldnt believe he could actually act like this.mainly,he got in to his character.each 10 character is given importance and is inter-connected.there is a lot of logic in this movie and thats why i love it.many might not attain that understanding yet.

see the thing with the dasavatharam is that it's a movie with a mammoth budget. and to make the film commercially viable, kamal chose ravikumar. but you're right in a way. if kamal or mani ratnam had directed this movie, it would've turned out a lot better. it would've been a real spectacle then.

KS Ravikumar is not a director who can deal with such a complicated subject, he did some box office semi hits/hits like Thenali, Pammal K Sambandham, which were enjoyable, but both pakka tamil films! Now when we are making such a great movie with international standards - you must rely on great directors like ManiRatnam - he is the MASTER! Dasavathaaram never will loss its investments just bcoz kamal added the stuff for a hit in the script. Cheers Kamal!

dude thenali was a huge hit..ks first production as well, this movie took more than 2 years to make and infact they needed more time but had to release due to pressure from fans. How can u get maniratnam for that long and kamal wanted to be fully involved and mani movies are his movies,he wont like a joint effort, hence why he asked ks (not just a good friend but also gets work done very fast), in any case i dont think this would be a maniratnam prototype either

2. Amatuerish makeup CGI, and that completely overshadows kamals acting.

The movie is bad. I am great fan of kamal and i felt it was he who spoiled the movie. Some points to note was, he did not suit well in all roles(not in acting but in looks). He never looked like george bush, nor the Jap guy.

His role was priest of temple was superb..if you watch the movie you need to see for the 1st 10 mins. Kamla was good in that. And Tsumani scene was disatrous(very bad graphics). Very poor screen play, good performance by the wrong person.very disappointing 1 wit gd message.

Hi Boss, I did get the movie. In Anbhe Sivam when he did make up it was so nice and he really looked like that. In this in all scenes it was so clear that sme thing was pasted on him.And please don say Graphics was good. If u wanna see (pirates of carribean) they look so real. This may be gr88 for india standard but we are comparing here to International..60 crores...as i said b4 he acted well but they did not suit him..and u can see the verdict..it is declared as average which is flop.
