I was looking at the big dot sights and also the Advantage tactical sight for my backup Glock 23. Both seem to have great reviews. I am 45 and the old eyes are not as sharp as they use to be. I carry a Glock 22 on duty with the trijigon sights and cant change those since its a dept gun.
Just ordered and installed a set of XS "Big dots" for my 3rd. Gen G20. Your video for installation was extremely helpfull. Had them on in only 10 minutes. And they look and function great. Impressive shooting by the way there James!
I have the BigDots on 4 pistols. Even with my sub-compact Glock 26's I have no problem hitting my 50 & 100yd steel with them. Normally 10-of-10 at 50yds, and 7 to 8-of-10 at 100yds.
Used the same sights in IDPA and USPSA and always walked away with 1st or 2nd in Production and Stock Service Pistol classes.
Ok you've twisted my arm.. I will buy the XS big dot for my G22.. I have heard good things about them and some negative (from the target shooters) But ultimately I bought my G22 for self defense purpose and That's what I'm going with.. Besides if I want to shoot tight groups I will use my Taurus PT92.. -=) nice video... Just wanted a little reassurance in spending $100+ on sights but I've heard nothign but good things about these.. I will review the install video of yours once I get mine in
I'm very interested as well in your point of aim like YuanMizzle. I'm familiar with how to shoot at distance with iron sights with a rifle, but not with a pistol. I can only imaging the same principles apply, but anyhow outstanding shots!!! Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!
Considering the Big Dot on my G19. When you're aiming at 50 and 100 yards... do you aim the Big Dot's center over the top of the popper and end up striking its center?
Good shooting! I've not used that sight, but have thought when I've seen it that it would not be a good all-around sight for both short AND long range. It appear I was laboring under the same myth you addressed. Thanks.
Nice video; I have seriously been considering your XS Big Dot sights for my Springfield XD Subcompact, there are so many competitors out there it's hard to choose just who I want to give my money to.
Does that huge dot almost cover the entire target at 100 yards?I suppose if their head was poking out at the top of the dot you would still get a center of mass shot, right?
I have these sights myself. I found that at 100 yards (with any sights but I do use these) you have to aim high. Now, how high you aim all depends on what brand of ammo you use, wether the target is up hill or down, and how hard the wind is blowing at you from where your aiming.
sweet shooting. my buddy has the xs sights on two of his guns and I'm about to have some put on my glock 19. Are you actually knocking that steel target down with a 9mm?
Please excuse my ignorance, and thanks for killing another lie I was told about 9mm. Some people act like a .45 is G-d's chosen caliber and a 9mm is just an anemic popgun. I carry a Glock 19 and wounld't trade it for any other handgun I've tried.
Ok. I thought I was good. Very nice. As far as the 9mm goes, carry what you can shoot well under pressure. Go run as hard as you can, then shoot at a target from 7-10 yards. Then practice, practice and when you think you got it, practice some more. I think the reason people don't like the 9 has to do with how fast the bad guy goes down (energy transfer).
If only they made them for the pistols I currently own. :( Sig P250 & Detonics Combat Master. Might have to pick up a G19 just so I can have fun with big dots.
Hello James, I'm considering XS sights for my M&P45 midsize and see that I can get a big dot tritium front, but the rear would have no tritium. how much does that take away the XS total functioning and is that a concern at all?
Do you have a 4.5lbs or 3.5lbs connector installed, would you recommend using one in a defensive weapon? I mean being able to hit a target is most important, when pulling the trigger.
you really are a good shot! Very impressive! I wish you could be my teacher. If you won't mind, can i ask you what ammo spec in 9mm you consider most effective in self-defense, and that which you personally use in your Glock19? I've heard the 147grain federal hydrashok JHP are most accurate in the Glock and effective in self-defense. Is this true? What is your opinion? Thanks!
Great demo James. I'm impressed that a 9mm round was even able to knock over the popper at 100yds accurate or not. Half expected it to bounce off. Keep up the good work.
You are my new hero! You are a master shooter! This video was very well done with the inset close-up of target. What city are you based out of; I'm from eastern NC, and would love to get some training. A+

Thanks.

The NZ Police use Glock 17's and train at shooting at 15 meters max.
I think we need to import some American instructors.....

It's all about shot placement. A 9mm in the heart is worth more than a .45 in the shoulder.
And you also have a much higher carrying capacity.

That is a factory gun to include the 5.5 pound trigger. The ONLY thing I do to my Glocks is the addition of XS sights.
