Really wonderful. I was trying to look for Harry Edison's arrangement, but after sifting through all of the vocal versions, I finally found something as great as this. I imagine this was the tune that inspired the song "Valiant & Valiant" from the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit!
One of my favorites, and I too like the raw sound better, but I play saxophone. This is great though, I'm going to start working on this tune now because of this video.
Ed, Ed, Ed. VERY nice, man. Beautiful tone and phrasing. Like the other poster said, your flugelhorn sounds particularly great on this video. Really, really nice. Herb
Thanks so much. I didn't use any effects like reverb on this video - just the raw sound. I'm just guessing but it seems that other flugelhorn musicians like you appreciate the raw sound while those who don't play the horn like the videos with the added effects.
Ed, I think it's because we really get to hear how beautiful that Kanstul 1537 sounds -- it clearly doesn't need any effects, it's that sweet of a horn. I've debated between one of these and one that's designed more after the Cousenon. Still unsure; it's not better, just different.
Out of all your videos, this one has the flugelhorn sounding its best. Whatever equipment/settings you used for the audio, do it for the rest of your vids. :)

Very beautiful. Indeed, some of us prefer the raw sound. Don't mess with nature ;-) What did you use to record (mike wise?)

Excuse me -- Kanstul 1525. The 1537 is there new, beautiful trumpet that rivals (surpasses?) the Bach Strad 37.

@Motifator61 That's not hard though, is it?
