  • I used to destroy guys in Fight Night Champion by using the rope-a-dope technique....then they changed the tuner set, now everyone kicks my ass lol, anyway Happy 70th Ali this is my favorite moment in boxing followed by any of the Gatti/Ward fights

  • can't get enough of this fight..until today i'm in complete awe and disbelief of what Ali did in this fateful round.. watched it live (thanks to our former Pres. Ferdie Marcos a boxer himself and a friend of Ali..who could have thought The Thrilla would be in Manila?)and most of Ali's championship bouts shown on TV for free(this is one thing the former Pres.will be remembered in a good way..:))...

  • at 2:38 when foreman was going down ali pulled the punch back cuz he knew it was over instead of hurting the man anymore...that is why he is the greatest

  • The greatest moment in boxing history.

  • ALI BUMAYE!!!

  • @lanhalamy matale ;D

  • This count is a shame...and I admire Ali much more than Foreman

  • "THE RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE !!!"

  • lmao! Are you serious? Look at foreman swinging at ali. Hes throwing phantom punches. Shadow boxing. He threw the fight for ali

  • @traffikantie Threw the fight. You clearly live in a fantasy world and no NOTHING about boxing.

  • @traffikantie

Try watching the entire fight. A big guy like Foreman throwing non stop punches for 8 rounds, do you know how tiring that must have been. All you have to do is set a timer for 3 minutes, then go punch a punching bag with your hardest shots non stop. That's one round, and that's one round without you getting hit from the other guy, plus when you miss that takes a lot out of you. It's pretty hard to miss a punching bag lol. It was also really hot and humid in the ring.

  • @traffikantie lol wtf youre retarded

  • Ali was and always will be the smartest fighter ever. His mindgame earned him more victorys than his fists did. Even if Ali wouldn´t have knocked Foreman down, humidity and exhaustion would have, sooner or later. Ali came to Zaire one month earlier than Foreman, and was more adapted to the heat, and understood that it would be a blow that Foreman couldn´t dodge. If the fight would have taken place somewhere else, we might have seen another story. ALI FOREVER!!!

  • The thing that always struck me about this fight. Is after the knockout and the ring is swarming with people trying to raise ALI up. . . in this moment of supreme exaltation where he has every right to be carried out of the ring on the shoulders of his fans you see him fighting them off so he could kneel and pray for just a moment. That my friends is the definition of character.

  • that ref BLEW

  • What a joke. Neither of these boxers would have lasted one round with Lennox Lewis.

  • @widebody123 Actually when Cassius Clay won the Olympic Gold he was on fire.. He would of run circles around Lennox at the same age of 18..

  • @widebody123 eh?

  • Muslims all around the world Turned on their T.V. to watch him, Allahu Akbar!

  • 1 billion people watched this fight ali shocked 1 billion people like he knew he would

  • Over a billione people around the world was watching this

  • Chills up my spine. This is what competition is two honourable men.

  • Ali trained himself to take on george foreman's punches and what Ali's goal was to make george tired

  • Boxing god = Ali!

  • ail 32 when he won this fight he knew he could beat i know that heat was to much outside but ail got the job done

  • they took ali his best years but he was and still is a legend

  • THE BEST MAN WON

  • epic

  • They Said He Could not Beat Foreman.

  • Again with the arguments about beating the count. First of all, Foreman is down at 2:40 (of the video) and back on his feet, that means off of both knees, at 2:51.

But that aside, it's the referee who decides when a fighter can't or shouldn't continue, that's why they get up close when they're counting so they can see what condition the guy's in; even if a fighter does "beat the count" that doesn't mean he can go on and its the referee who evaluates that. Foreman didn't complain.

  • An Epic knockout, but if you watch at the end, when Ali says somthing to Don K. and his face just does a 180 degree turn, thats one of the most beatiful moments in boxing history!!!

  • I know I'm probably an idiot for asking this... but why did foreman lose? Did he tap out or something? Because he stood up before the end of 10 seconds and just walked off. Did he give up?

  • @TheGorgorothSpire look at the time foreman hit the ground at 0:11 and at 0:01 hes still not standing up right the announcer counted sucked ass but he was clearly down for over 10 seconds

  • If this is a K.O. Mike Tyson K.O.'ed Buster Duglass.

  • @southsidesman Yeah man Buster was down for like 12 seconds after that vicious uppercut from iron mike

  • @bascorasco2 When will people give up on this? The referee's count is the official count in a boxing match. Douglas was keeping track of the ref's count and was up at nine. The referee judged that Douglas was able to continue. The round ended seconds later. Douglas dominated the next round and knocked Tyson out in the 10th.

Tyson also barely beat the count, but was obviously in no condition to go on..

  • @counterstriving but my point is that the count was slow. It does matter if douglas got up at the 9 count if the ref count was slow. In reality most every other ref would have called that fight right then and there. I watched it live and couldn't fucking believe my eyes...I bet 200$ on that stupid nigger tyson

  • @bascorasco2 My sympathies on the $200, absolutely. But again, however the ref is counting that's the official count. The timekeeper's clock is a guideline, but you'll notice that when a fighter goes down the referee doesn't stand there looking at a watch. He's getting up close and looking at the fighter, while he counts, in order to evaluate the man's condition, based on how he is following and responding to the count; clearly Douglas was able to get up and was waiting until the count was 9.

  • @counterstriving Yeah your right but could you blame me? It was the greatest upset in boxing history bar none. I knew alot of people who lost a substantial amount of money on that fight.

  • @bascorasco2 Hey I sympathize, $200 is $200. Just imagine if you'd put that money on Douglas! Which of course would have been completely nuts.

  • @bascorasco2 Also, I'm not sure why you say that any other ref would've called it over? Douglas was down from one punch, was given a count and got up without staggering. What would be the reason to stop the fight? and especially with the round ending in a few more seconds.

  • "I CAN COME IN THE RING HE IS MY COUSIN - WE FROM THE SAME TRIBE!!"

  • Ali was the best shrink, he demolished his opponents before and during the fight stalking,Foreman lost his concentration the moment he started listening to Ali during the fight

  • This fight was the end of Foreman as a boxer and his beginning as a man.

  • @vladiator100, it was Mohamed Ali who invited Foreman for a 'Fight' for the title and 'Forman' horribly refused, because he was psychologically a beaten man, never again ready to look a 'boxing crowd' in its face, as he fell from his 24 KO history to the infamy of his first but the worst 'KO' at the hands of Ali. Though 'evangelists' latter staged managed a return fight of 'George Foreman's' win when he was 40 years old, everybody knew that 'Boxing Show', in fact was an 'Evangelical Gimmick'.

  • He truely was the Greatest Heavyweight of all time. Joe Lewis would have worn down trying to keep up with him. Rocky Marciano would have been a bloody mess by round 5. Tyson would have been worn down by round 8. All of the early fighters back in Jack Johnsons day would could not catch him. Ali also had the best chin in history. Of course he is paying the price this day.

  • @stephen39217 Ali was great, but Lennox Lewis was clearly the best heavyweight ever. It's a shame they boxed in different eras, sort of like Bobby Fischer and Garry Kasparov who never played each other at chess.

  • This, is the most joyous scene, ever seen in the history of boxing, this is an incredible scene, the place is going wild, Muhammed Ali has won, Muhammed Ali has won, by a knockdown! By a knockdown! The thing they said was impossible, he's done!

  • Foreman beat the count; dont know why ref stopped it, unless he miscounted. Foreman was beaten but was still fighting and could defend himself, though exhausted. Ali may have been the greatest and likely beat the other champs on style, but revceived a whole lot of breaks and leeway from refs and judges---esp for holding tactics

  • @loyaldude10 I thought that too that Foreman had beaten the count the first couple of times I watched it but when I counted it for myself he doesn't beat the count. The announcer picks up the count late and he also says something while he is counting, putting him even further behind in the count.

  • @loyaldude10 In boxing the count isn't until you stand up, you also have to show the ref that you can raise your hands and show signs of awareness like being able to follow fingers.

  • Ali knew that he would not beat George in a rematch. Big George would have taken a better fight plan into a rematch. But Ali certainly beat a lot of fighters that experts predicted he could not beat. He truely is one, if not the greatest fighter, of all time. Ali was not suppose to beat these fighters. Ali would have beaten Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson in his prime.

    Sonny Liston- Beat twice

    Joe Frazier- 2 out 3

    George Foreman

  • @stephen39217 I disagree, Ali could have beaten George anytime BEFORE Manila which happened in 1975. Ali in the first 2 rounds danced and seemed to beat Foreman to the punch almost everytime and Foreman though he did land some good shots was not able to figure Ali out for those 2 rounds. Foreman most likely would not have fallen for the rope-a-dope but its not as if thats all Ali had in his arsenal. Anytime after 1976 though I agree that Ali might have founded it more difficult to beat Foreman.

  • @vladiator100 The one part that I disagree with is that Ali did something in this fight that he did not do with previous fighters and it caught George by surprise. First, he used a right hand lead at the beginning of the fight. Second, Ali was the master of psychology in which he would have fighters so mad and angry prior to the fight that it would take an opposing fighter off their normal fight plan. George also admitted that he was way too young to fight that veteran fighter.

  • @stephen39217 Foreman also said that Ali's style was designed to beat Foreman's style. And I can see why he would say that, Foreman struggled with boxers who moved or danced. He also said something like, "I could fight Ali 20 times and he still would whup me, he had the style to beat me". But Ali did decline horribly once 1976 started, so Foreman might have been able to beat Ali then.

  • when this fight happened I could not believe Ali won it was right than and there that I knew Ali was the GREATEST

  • Ali was and still and will always be such an inspiring figure for all the people all around the world . watching Ali regaining the title again after seven years of struggling was simply one of the most incredible moments in all times .

  • this fight is a prove that boxing needs not only strength and agility, but also patience, strategy, and intelligence

  • its a prove that boxing needs not only strength and agility, but also patience, strategy, and most importantly INTELLIGENCE...

  • Foreman lost, but he whooped the shit out of ali the whole time.

  • @Frankyyourpimp That was the plan.

Or at least he claims it was...

  • @Frusciantefan77 what a pussy plan then.

  • @Frankyyourpimp pussy ?? get the fuck out before I kick the fuck out of your dentist

  • @qmoney000 You are going to kick my dentists ass? okey.

  • @Frankyyourpimp. its called the rope-a-dope...you fuckin moron, & its extremely dangerous.

  • @Straphis2001 quit been a fag, "extremely dangerous" sure...

  • @Frankyyourpimp ....yo human colostomy bag, let a 200+ lb man whoop on your ass for about 30-45 minutes, & then lets see if you got what it takes to put him down, you fuckin cock-sucker.

  • @Straphis2001 lets see, how bout we let that 200+ lb person be your momma, and then offer me those 30-45 minutes wit her haha bitch.

  • @Frankyyourpimp Are you implying that you fuck 200+ lb women?? Your a nasty nigga uhh?

  • @Straphis2001 Are you confessing that your mom is a 200+ woman then?

  • @Frankyyourpimp Are you insinuating that if my mother weighed 200+ lbs you'd fuck her???

  • @Straphis2001 I'd fuck her either way, shit...... I didnt insinuate anything i told you straight up! haha

  • @Frankyyourpimp So now your fuckin fat bitches & calling Ali a pussy...........your just regular ol' hardcore craker ain't you!

  • @Straphis2001 Im only offering to fuck your fat bitch of a mom, then i never called Ali a pussy directly, i criticized his way of winning and called his "PLAN" a pussy plan. Pay attention to what you are doing straphis retarded motha f.. Seems to me you are a classic foul mouthed thinking you are special black person.

  • @Frankyyourpimp aaawwwww, looks like I hit a nerve. That "pussy" plan you refer to won Ali his title back, you pampered piece of shit.

  • @Straphis2001 Nerve... wtf im the most calmed person you'll meet @. And so you admit it was a pussy plan.. good i finally got through you.

  • @Frankyyourpimp ...shit!!! I forgot you we're still alive!!

  • @Straphis2001 hey, so you gonna give me them 30 min with the person that gave you birth or what?

  • @Frankyyourpimp ....you crazy fuckin bastard!!!!

  • @Frankyyourpimp ali let foreman kick his arse so he could b tired out then ali could strike

  • right when foremans back touches the ground look at the timer, 10 seconds exactly.

  • Foreman is down at 2:41 and he is up at 2:52...11 seconds on the ground...clean knockout...

  • THE BEST BOXER EVER!!!!!!!!! MOHAMED ALI

  • @oarecarenume Err, you're forgetting Lennox Lewis. Ali was the second best heavyweight.

  • MONKEYS!!!!

  • @MrTalegazo Maybe, but not albino monkeys at least.

  • If somebody had taken out Don King right there, lots of good fighters would not have had their health, finances and careers ruined by that scumbag. Oh, and we'd probably have a heavyweight division now...

  • watch the clock in the bottom right corner and see if more than 10 sec's passed between foreman hitting the floor and getting up. Foreman hits the ground between 11-10 seconds and is still down when the clock runs out. Though the ref may have only been at 8-9 sec, he was clearly down for the 10.

  • At 3.22 the guy in the brown jacket with his back on the audience, is that a guy on his back. If it is Im suprised no one tried to take it from him.

  • great fight but couldnt help to notice that that was a very fast count by the ref and round was done to

  • From wacthing this macth i only get one message. Never Give Up.

  • At 3.35 Ive always wanted to know what does Ali says exactly to Don King . I mean King is simply devastated !

  • no doubt Ali would win, but that was a quick count given to Foreman by that dopey ref, the same clown who gave Jerry Quarry a quick count

  • This fight was one of the best fights I have ever seen. Indeed, the brilliance and gallantry of his highness has overwhelmed his mere subject.

  • 'Wide Smile' wiped of the face of Don King!

  • Crazy they made a movie and the climax of the film was about somebody knocking you the fuck out lol dunno how Foreman felt about that last scene but even he gotta be like damn he got me good huh

  • Foreman was stronger than Ali, but Ali had the rope-a-dope on full blast

  • wait at 3:22 did that man have a gun? lol

  • @K2A93 i think a couple of them did....

  • 3:21 This man Have a Pistol.

    Pistola Prateada.

  • Watch the last few moments of this clip...if you've seen the don king movie with ving rhames then u see it wasnt BS that Clay hated him..did u see how don king's smile evaporated after wateva clay said to him!!

  • just like in the movie

  • he fought a smarter fight . Old Gorge felt pretty small after that. Who would have guessed 30 years later he would get the last laugh.

  • foreman was yunger then ali :S 5-4 year

  • yeah, but Ali waited him out. Foreman got his revenge 30 years later. I believe it was fixed though. Moorer had him beat for 10 rounds.

  • in dis fight forman was 24yr old and ali was 32yrs old

  • foreman was 25 actually

  • @xismxist

    ok...but u know what i meen right

  • nope... i dont =)

  • the thing is he didnt get the last laugh ali will always have the last laugh , yu dont know what your talking about if you talk like that. Only small minds think like that.

  • He did get the last laugh, how many other guys you know regained the title at 45? Ali cant even whip his ass.

  • oh sorry i hought you meant he has the last laugh because Ali has a disease

  • I agree with SA2137 ur an idiot, Clay is the greatest of all time, Foreman couldnt hang up his wet jock strap for drying!!...this is the fight that made the man a legend

  • I did'nt take away fromthe mans abilitiy, I only pointed out the fact tha Foreman is still a healthy guy , with the freedom to go where he wants when he wants, and Ali wears a diaper. So maybe ali was better in the ring, but Foreman got the last laugh.

  • Last Laugh for Foreman, emphasis on Laugh..i mean wat, tha guy has the "George Foreman Grill"...a joke, he's disgraced himself by becomeing a laughing stock..Clay may wear his diapers, but his pride is intact

  • tbursee

Alis willingness was stronger than his body, maybe he has a diseas but his name will always be remembered, the name of Foreman and Frazier will always be remembered with Ali,

ALi has lived his prime time while his boxingcareer and after his retirement from boxing at the age from 40 to 60 he had also a good lifetime,

  • that is true, but how many of those victories do you think he would give back just to be able to whip his own ass?

  • Ali is now 67 years old, some people became disabled in a car accident or getting a stroke,

What do you want to do especially in a age of 67?His diseas got worse in the Age of 60,and he lived 20 years in happiness

If i could make my name immortal Like Ali i would do the same like Ali,giving more than your body can give

Like i said,Ali Lived his prime time after his retirement from boxing too.

there is nothin special to do with 67 years of age

  • people in this age just want to relaxe and getting older as it can be,Ali can walk and eat,he only cant speak anymore and his hands shaking sometimes,He can talk with signlanguage,Ali is happy believe me

  • he travelled in many countries for human rights,he had the honor to ignite the olympic fire in 1995,

George Foreman himseld said that some people recognising him because of his tv advertisings for barbecues and not of his boxing career, that makes him often crazy he says,

But Ali will always be remembered as the Greatest boxer of All time

Mohammed Ali is the Albert EINSTEIN and the Eisac Newton of Boxing !

  • @Schehit i didn't know they had an olympics in 1995 ;)

  • i dont know the correct year but sowhere in the 90´s were an olympics and ali ignited the olympic fire,Im sure you know what i mean ;-)

  • @Schehit yes, 1992 and 1996. olympics are every 4 years.

  • @Schehit It was in 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, Ga. He was also awarded another gold medal to replace the one he won in 1960 Olympics in Rome. If you can remember he throw the original one over the bridge into Ohio River.

  • in a higher age its normal that some people needs diapers,my mother had 9 births,5 of them went well, she is 67 now and has sometimes difficulties to control her pee too, but she doesnt wear diapers,Joe Frazier has a cataract and is a diabetic now,

i think the deseas of ali is age related, many people has a parkinson deseas even they have never boxed in their live, i think its genetic

  • @Schehit

thank you for sharing disturbing details about your life

  • shocking!

  • is it just me or did Foreman get up in time to beat the 10 count, the ref was counting pretty fast too lol

  • it was an 8 count back then.. not 10

  • I love the fake smile on King's face. He's absolutely stunned. lol

  • Ali is the Legend :)

  • pure legend

  • Ali was advised to avoid Foreman, but he chose to take him on. A good decision, in terms of the result. But the amount of huge headshots that Ali took during that fight, may have contributed to his condition. Don't get me wrong, I love boxing, and will always defend it, but it does make me think when I watch this fight. Ali took so many massive head shots round after round. I just feel sad watching it.

  • Frazier tries to take more credit for alis problems today accrorind to some hbo movie

  • yea cuz ali never kept his hands up, idk why, i guess he saved energy that way

  • @Stevesixty7, Agreed. Ali took so many solid shots on his head & chin. The man is simply legendary in his ability to take so much punishment. When I watched this fight in 1974 I was a freshman in college. It was a joyous day for me with my Idol winning his greatest fight. I really thought he would be knocked out cold by Foreman like Joe Frazier. Those terrible body shots Ali endured I would always remember. Watching it all over again I think he was aching all over his body after the fight.

  • Ali let him beat on him for 7 rounds to get him tired, and then Ali just 1,2,3 foremans down

  • what happened to fights like this?

  • foreman is tired, wasted all his energy in the early rounds. its pretty hopeless to keep going especially if your fighting the greatest of all time. though it was a good fight!

  • at the end youll notice ali was still as loose and had as much energy as round one

  • I saw this fight on "closed circuit" television, in Louisville, when I was 13. To this day, it was the most joyous crowd, I have ever been a part of.

  • @swr112261 I envy the people who got to watch this

  • @ccbgmo Why how old are you?

  • @csdr0 18. I can remember watching Roy Jones fight and can remember a couple Tyson fights late in his career. But I never got to watch these guys.

  • @ccbgmo because you're young, that's why:)

  • @ccbgmo if you're an Ali fan you would have felt the same apprehension I felt then. I thought Foreman would destroy and humiliate Ali. After the fight you could never describe the feeling that everything is possible even beating George Foreman.

  • imagine ali if he was in his prime

  • This fight was a testament to just how strong and how well conditioned Ali was. Foreman unloaded everything he had on him and Ali just stood back and took it. It might not have looked like it, but he took a LOT of abuse before Foreman punched himself out.

  • Ali avoided so many big punches by moving his head (i.e., "going") with the punch. He doesn't totally avoid the punch when he does that, but he probably does take half the force off it when he moves (or goes) with the punch.

I'm not criticizing him for that. I think it's brilliant. It's a science within a science.

  • Fuck the bell... Foreman got knocked the fuck out!!!!

  • he was already down for ten seconds before the bell went

  • not sure

  • People say Foreman got a fast count. But that doesn't matter. He had no chance to win a decision after this knockdown and certainly no hope to KO Ali. He would have lost a lop-sided unanimous decision.

  • even if he had got up he would have gone right back down, later on he admitted this

  • If Foreman had beaten the count, not like it would've mattered. Ali would've kept on picking him apart and Foreman either would've been knocked out anyway or been stopped.

  • Right. Fighters like Ali are just getting started in the 8th round. Second half of the fight is when they do their best work (i.e., pummel their opponents).

  • The bell rang on 9th count. Shouldn't Foreman been saved by the bell???

  • Maybe....not! I was 30 somthin years ago!

  • I think back then, you could not be saved by the bell until the final rd.
