I always liked zip drives. I still use a Zip 250 in a Dual bay usb drive enclosure.

My Super Nintendo has a Parallel Zip 100 on it with the help of the Super wild card DX 2 for loading roms off a Zip disk for play on a real SNES

I have to admit I don't get why anyone would put a usb 2.5" drive case inside another, larger case.

Now what I'd love to see would be a way to allow connection of a regular floppy interface 1.44 (or 1.2 if anyone remembers them) drive, directly to USB. Especially at a reasonable cost.

All of these type of projects tend to be "get more life out of you xxxxx drive, by just putting in a hard drive or USB thumb drive".

I would love to see them do something other than gutting the device and putting in a USB key, making use of the actual functionality. Also would love to see what people do/make with the recycyled parts.

did same thing except i found a old DEAD CD player so i gutted it mounted it in there soldered about 150 connections rewired 5 thingies and it works. i also decided to go further. i added a openin and closing disk driver lol gets better...

1. If your drive still works sell it on Ebay and buy something USEFUL from the money you get.

2. If it doesn't work, do the same.

3. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER "just solder some USB wires to a parallel port". Basically NEVER EVER solder any wires from standard cable type A to cable type B unless you know what you are doing. Chances are someone plugs type B (in this case parallel) to your modded port and you won't know what happens (gets killed onboard).
