@meade9166.......Hi there! Yes it is possible to put it back on providing you are careful taking it off!! if you are looking to replace the winding's then just take care not to SQUASH any metal edges when taking it off but if you do just use a bench / hand grinder to smooth out any rough edges then just carefully weld it back on other than that all i can suggest is cut the windings leaving the shell in one piece. hope this helps cheers. cool I have used a grinder to grind the welded part and came apart pretty fast but I put the transformer in a oven for about 15 minutes set to about 350 to heat up the resion that is backed in to hold the materal in and after it gets hot enought I take it out and it just pretty much falls a part with a little help some times form a screwdriver. I have been collect for a wend turbine turbine but have found some are made of aluminum instead of copper and I need all copper from the primary coil.
@guitarer99.......Erm..yeah.. its kinda hard to put it back if you dont have a welder. providing the transformer wont get too hot you could always wind some steel wire around the outside once its placed back together and cover the whole side with duct tape or something being careful not to put any tape over the windings just the outside metal other than that you'll have to use a welder im afraid cheers GENETICRABBIT
