My fiance and I are building a house this spring and we have picked out a stationary butcher block for the kitchen like you have. I was just wondering how you would recommend cleaning it.
Hot water and a little dish soap works fine, also periodically you need to oil the wood. They make a butcher block oil, but its expensive. You can use mineral oil- its safe to injest and odorless and colorless, and won't breakdown like a food oil.
I agree with eating at home on those "special" days....mothers day esp! I really like how you have flowers to decorate in the background!

And between the normal maintenance of soap/water and monthly mineral oil - use white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle to do routine cleaning. =D
