@dognasty3 So many people believe that this is a Christmas song. Recently, attempts have been made to put it in that category, but it is really a song of a guy trying to get a girl to stay with him, from the movie "Neptune's Daughter". It does not have a Xmas designation. In any regard, it is a cleverly written song that always sounds good no matter who sings it. This is a fantastic version as well. I'm just glad when people like yourself recognize good music for what it is...

Everyone remember, "Have yourself a half a drink more" before you get in your car to drive home because cigarettes are SO BAD. Maybe, if you're lucky, when the cops pull you over, and administer a breathalyzer, that half a drink more will be just enough to kick out a reading of .08 or higher. Don't Smoke a cigarette because they are SO BAD! Maybe, that half a drink more will be just enough for you to cause a fatal accident and kill some innocent family. Drink up!

@TwoSlew While I agree on the dangers of smoking, drinkng/driving. I think the historical perspective of this song needs to be considered. Penned 67 years ago at the tail end of WW2, the thoughts of the world were on the end of the war, some one year away, not on the personal safety/health concerns we know today. Should we be denied this fine tune in the name of political correctness.?I personally think not. I am not suggesting you are wrong in your concern but common sense should rule here. :)

@micvelo -- I agree! Common sense should prevail. You're better off to smoke that cigarette before taking that long drive home, instead of having that half a drink more. Drinking, then driving is illegal!! Vanessa should have known better. She should have said, "Maybe just a piece of cake more"! That would have been much better than smoking or drinking, unless, of course, you're overweight!
