Suggest you try a non linear editor (NLE) such as Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and animate the art by using keyframes and changing the position and scale. This will enable you to zoom in and out of painting for close-up views as well as panning. Great video.
Scan the art at a very high resolution and use images with at least 1440 pixel width and 960 pixel height. Good luck.

you can add music in different ways, lots of programs to be found on the internet... personely i use audiograbber
