Yes, they (the horses) love it, they feel safe, they feel comfortable, and they are having a blast. Some barrel racers even have to be started with their flank to the track because they are so excited.
@4Jethro So true!! I was riding a therapy horse once who I didn't realize was a barrel racer about 10 years ago. He's quiet as can be with the kids... the biggest sweetie I know! I left some barrels up in the arena not really thinking about it that day, but once we started cantering his ears perked up really high and he started doing sharp turns around the barrels! We had a blast!! Hahaha
