A characteristically stunning performance from this true virtuoso. He's got power and poetry throughout, delivering scalding octaves with real drama and astonishing accuracy, but also finely tracing all the filigree. Wild was one of the very few pianists whose technique Horowitz was said to have envied. It's clear why. And he kept that brilliant mechanism intact into his 90s--his 90th birthday recital is full of amazing pianism. His earlier Liszt transcription recordings are unsurpassable.

I love Wild's playing. He doesn't belabor everthing and gets on with some highly skilled, technically perfect playing at some very exciting tempos.

@brunoparis12 Earl Wild was known in Europe. His obituary in the Britain's The Gramophone, the preeminent classical music magazine in the word, started with: "Earl Wild was one of the greatest pianists in history". That should be his epitaph. Simple, true, and to the point. End of discussion.
