its sad to see the united states this brainwashed, this opressed, this scared, this fooled. and whats even more sad, is that there are people who will vote this mad man in,will they amend the iraqui constitution according to the christian bible as well?
Mr. Huckabee has to comprehend that there was specific reasoning behind the founders not including religion, morality, and virtue in the Constitution. When you make a government based upon religion, you get the middle east. When you make a government permitting people to worship freely and operating with secularism, you have freedom.

hey Godapes--your savior has lost VA. maybe Chuck will help Hick kick his way to the white house. i'm sure taking it by force would be ok with the christians.
Its funny how some evangelicals accuse Mormons or trying to set up a theocracy, which is purely false. Yet now we see who really would like to set up a theocracy.
I do not see where the US constitution is against gods law as it is now written. We may read it incorrectly just as some would read scripture wrong. but it is pretty good for what it is. a plan for government.
Huckabee, you cannot be a bigot against someone based on a choice, it is a disagreement, nothing more.
He is a moron, do not vote for him!
I can't believe this idiot has supporters!
He wants to amend the constitution to make the US a theocracy... not only is it against intelligence, it would be harmful for any church that did not agree with the state religion.
It's actually easier to change the word of god than it is to change the Constitution. People do it all the time. Why should Huckabee do any differently?
Well said. Theologists (If it can be called a science) often act as God's personal interpreter, saying whatever they want. I hope the U.S. can stay out of that nastiness. Dictating anyone with religion is terrifying. All my religious relatives scare me (Fundies) because they're so controlling.
Art. 11. "...the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion..."
-- The Treaty of Tripoli (the Treaty of Peace and Friendship) 1796
Washington's religious belief was that of the enlightenment: deism. He practically never used the word "God," preferring the more impersonal word "Providence."
Washington endorsed what Jefferson would later define as a "wall of separation between church and state. Uneducated Evangelical.
In the Capitol's Chapel is a stained glass window depicting George Washington in prayer under the inscription "In God We Trust." Also, a prayer is inscribed in the window which says, "Preserve me, God, for in Thee do I put my trust"
During the first meeting of the Continental Congress in September 1774, George Washington prayed alongside the other delegates. And they recited Psalm 35 together as patriots.
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity." -- Jefferson
"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and the interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."
John Jay- First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court 1777
"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen,... it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries" -- Treaty of Tripoli: passed by congress and signed by President John Adams, 1797
Which is why the 1st amendment exists, and why the Constitution clearly states "...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.", and why the 1st amendment prohibits an establishment of religion - because you could never get those 52 people to agree on anything pertaining to religion - least of all the Deists. The idea being, religion is a personal matter and the government stays out of it - washes it's hands, so to speak.
"Which is why the 1st amendment exists, and why the Constitution clearly states "...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.", and why the 1st amendment prohibits an establishment of religion - because you could never get those 52 people to agree on anything pertaining to religion - least of all the Deists"
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity religion & morality are indispensable supports In vain would that man claim tribute to patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness these firmest props of the duties of men & citizens reason & experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principles
"God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever."
When Jefferson talked about God, he did so as a deist (to whatever degree), but certainly didn't embrace Christianity. In fact, he rewrote the New Testament removing all the miracles and mysticism surrounding Jesus (see Jefferson Bible).
"History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance of which their civil as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purposes." - Jefferson
wow. so now god is running the US? guess what, fuck--this isnt a country of 100% Christians or catholics. run the country, dont try and turn it into a giant church.
Ok.. Who's going to decide what part of the bible we adopt into the constitution? Huckabee? The republican Party? The general Public? Do we bring slavery back? Kill gays?
Exactly! Imparting religious ideals upon those that do not subscribe to such vile hatred and intolerance is illegal and will be met with swift and complete resistance. The media is owned and run by 6 people and they all have the same objectives that are not in the best interest of the American people. Propaganda for Profit.
the founding fathers who lived hundreds of years ago were more enlightened than the current slate of Republican candidates. what's wrong with Republicans today?
I believe it is very important 2 have a Christian pres who believes in Jesu. w/o a doubt He is the ONLY way to Heaven.the Bible is the one true book of Life. if u dont believe it, u don't have faith. but only time will tell wen ppl realize their purpose on this earth. that purpose is 2 serve Him. so y not change our Constitution 2 surround OUR Creator?? our God is a loving God, but he is also Just.if you deny Him now, He will deny you at Judgement Day
He is a loving God? But will send perfectly sensible and good moral people to hell for simple not accepting him as god and not worshiping him...sounds like your god is a pompous asshole to me....
Anyone can misinterpret the Bible/Koran to support hate &superiority. Terrorists believe that hating you serves Allah like you believe hating gays serves God. It isn't what God you worship; it's how you treat your fellow man. There are many types of faith. But only one type of hate. You didn't pick a Christian church, your parents just brought you there you hypocritical asshole. Go to church to worship, the government has more than one faith to cater to.
In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection for his own. It is easier to acquire wealth and power by this combination than by deserving them, and to effect this, they have perverted the purest religion ever preached to man into mystery and jargon, unintelligible to all mankind, and therefore the safer engine for their purpose.--Thomas Jefferson
Rewriting the constitution so that it's in God's standards is an excellent idea, but I worry that most Americans differ on what those standards are and we shouldn't allow a public official, even a trained Baptist minister, to define God's standards for us. This kind of talk is divisive and bad for America. Besides, the real issues are the economy and our international affairs. Let the law makers handle the social issues, not the president or the courts (Roe v. Wade)
Charisma gets people to stop thinking without making them realize it. H.'s interview tricks rely on charisma. A commentator noted that H.'s recent statements sound pretty theocratic. Huckabee's response? 'Of course not, I'm just talking about right-to-life and marriage. We're not going to change the constitution to make tithing and Sunday School mandatory!' Funny guy. I guess that's one way to make marriage and abortion sound like minor issues. Don't buy into someone who won't deal in facts.
Well before you make a judment you must see this video "from minute 01:10 - 02:00"
watch?v=prQ9wDjTn9Y
In this video Mike Huckabee said "The statement doesn't mean rewrite the constitution NOT AT ALL... He also said that the statement was made in a context of human life amended and traditional marriage...(More details at the video)
When I thought we couldn't get any further into the twilight zone, I then heard the horseshit coming out of these hosts' mouths. How they can even support or advocate such a thing... This is INSANE !!!
I am a non-denominational minister with a bachlors in theology and I think Huckabee is an Idiot. Please dont think that all christians are as unpatriotic as he is. Thanks. Go Fred T.
Fundamentalists like Huckabee who think the Bible is the "word of a living God" must think God is piss poor writer. Secondly, I don't believe this charlatan when he says he won't touch science education. He's already told everyone he denies the facts of biology. I think he'd want to "teach the controversy" in our schools. Just like the "controversy" between astronomers and astrologers....
I dont believe in God. Therefore Huckabee is alienating me by making me conform to his gods beliefs. Remember FREEDOM OF RELIGION, YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU WANT, ILL BELIEVE WHAT I WANT!!!!
What "God" is Huckabee talking about here? His god, my god, your god, allah, budah, the devil?
Obviously it is his view of the biblical God, but why "his" view, why not my view of the biblical god, or yours? You see people, this is why there is a seperation of church and state and why our founding fathers had such a great idea when the started this nation. Keep god out of the white house, for gods sake!!!
Well before you make a judment you must see this video "from minute 01:10 - 02:00"

Yea, that's called backtracking, which Huckabee is good at. Sorry perfumouni, but Huckabee just ruined his entire campaign with that statement. It's over buddy. And, if in the VERY RARE event, Huckabee does get the Republican nomination, he will be crushed by the Hildabeast in November. Republicans better start waking up and reassessing their choices. Choose wisely (i.e. an anti-war candidate).
"MAYBE A BREACH OF THE LINE BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE".. my patooteee!!! An absolute chasm would be more like it! When the founding fathers came over to North America, they had the understanding that the inclusion of religion with politics is what could be the most dangerous mix that there can be. Such a blend has ALWAYS brought about a major conflict that ends in physical violence. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS LOOK TO THE EAST!!!
Ron Paul is a Christian, but he wants to follow the Constitution, not change it to reflect only the views of Christians.
Up until now, Huckabee was probably my second choice among the Republicans after Ron Paul. However, after hearing this comment, he will not get my vote if it comes down to he and Obama/Clinton/Edwards.
God the Almighty has made our nation. By defending its existence we are defending His work. We are entitled to stand before the Almighty and ask Him for His grace and His blessing. No people can do more than that everybody who can fight, and that they all sacrifice in common, filled with but one thought: to safeguard freedom and national honor and life itself.
We were convinced that the people needs and requires this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out.
-Adolf Hitler, in a speech in Berlin on 24 Oct. 1933
No, it is not we that have deserted Christianity, it is those who came before us who deserted Christianity.
So far as the Evangelical Confessions are concerned we are determined to put an end to existing divisions, which are concerned only with the forms of organization, and to create a single EVANGELCAL CHURCH for the whole nation....
Adolf Hitler, in his Proclamation at the Parteitag at Nuremberg on 5 Sept. 1934
Lmao at Huckabee's first sentence. It is NOT easier to amend the Constitution! Why doesn't he present a few bills for amendments if he's elected and just see how hard it is himself? First, the bill actually has to pass committee. Then it has to be passed by a majority (or is it a supermajority?) of Congressmen. Then it goes to all 50 states, and only if 38 of those states ratify it does it become an amendment. This has happened only 27 (or is it 17?) times since the Bill of Rights.
This is the scariest thing I have heard in a long time. The founding fathers would be outraged by Huckabee's statement. I hope the media gives this issue at least 1/4 of the air time it gave the Britney fiasco.
lneria: No...I disagree. The founding fathers would be outraged @ how people have twisted views. Separation of Ch & state doesn't even mean what you think it does. They opened every meeting with a word of prayer & prayed in Jesus's name. Unfortunately, our founding fathers weren't God & did not have the ability to understand that everyone's morals, etc. would be out of whack.
ragenut2112: I was using that as an example. Everyone's morals or lack thereof stem from somewhere....Huckabee's just happen to stem from Christianity.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
In context, this is about 1. our Declaration principle of our "Creator endowed Right to Life." and our yes, "holy bonds" and civil standards of marriage. That's what Huckabee was talking about -- maintaining consistency, instead of redefining matters of our most fundamental right (life) and civilization's most essential building block (marriage). Look for the Taliban in that other deal over there in Afghanistan.
If I ever saw a fascist this man is one. How can you go around and proclaim you are going to amend the Constitution to fit God's plan? I never thought I would see the day when I heard this kind of talk from a man running for president. Say no the fascism!
Well said. We're ignoring the fact that many Mid-East countries have no separation of C and C and it doesn't seem to be something we want to try here.
I can't beleive the fruit cakes you guts got running for president

I think what Huckabee mispoke & rambled on & what he was trying to say is that it would be easier to change the constitution

ie. Marriage

Mr. Huckabee has to comprehend that there was specific reasoning behind the founders not including religion, morality, and virtue in the Constitution. When you make a government based upon religion, you get the middle east. When you make a government permitting people to worship freely and operating with secularism, you have freedom.

He is nothing but an idiot with an agenda.

Well said. Theologists (If it can be called a science) often act as God's personal interpreter, saying whatever they want. I hope the U.S. can stay out of that nastiness. Dictating anyone with religion is terrifying. All my religious relatives scare me (Fundies) because they're so controlling.

Let me remind you too:
Art.

When Jefferson talked about God, he did so as a deist (to whatever degree), but certainly didn't embrace Christianity. In fact, he rewrote the New Testament removing all the miracles and mysticism surrounding Jesus (see Jefferson Bible).

In context, this is about 1. our Declaration principle of our "Creator endowed Right to Life." and our yes, "holy bonds" and civil standards of marriage.
