The Praise & Worship team in my Pentecostal church do this song. @VirFortunaeLucisque I am aware of the Papal connection. I was Catholic from '79 to '84. Passed catechism classes with flying colors, did the 1st confession thing (that was a good one son, give me 10 Hail Marys & you're absolved), took 1st Communion plus many more & was lost as a goose. I got saved in '95 at age 45 when my mother died. That's when I asked God to forgive me of my sin & asked Jesus into my heart & my life and was reborn into the family of Christ.
Read Isaiah 6, the account of Isaiah when he met with the glory of the Lord. And, oddly, i like what Isaiah said - "Woe to me!"
It was at seeing the Holiness of our Lord, that he saw his unworthiness.
And somethings it saddens me to notice a lot of recent 'christian' music are so self-righteous. Have so much of 'i' in it, and so much of how 'we' can get God by 'laying' this, 'giving that'
God chooses us! Like for Isaiah with the burning coal! And Jesus for our salvation

So,sin no longer separates us from God as it does non-believers, but unconfessed or unrepented sin creates separation to the degree that it creates a chasm that causes us to not be able to fully walk in the presence of God.

@definewords You miss the point, I think. We did not make ourselves. We are no more our masters than we are masters of the wind and rain and light. We are made by God, for the glory of God, and He calls us to obedience and faith and holiness. We share communion with God at His invitation and grace. We are punished when we sin, and separated from Him when we choose our selves over Him. His will be done in all things.

Not that we don't often wind up causing our own problems, but it seems to me that we are today uncomfortable with God's justice and His Holiness, and focus only on His love. We forget that Jesus will come again as a conquering King, and will then separate humanity for eternity, to His presence, or to damnation. His will be done in all things.

Discernment is the key. Some worldy music isn't edifying to your spirit. Highway to Hell? I cannot think of a good reason to listen to that. Yes, I remember enjoying songs like that, but have been convicted by the Holy Spirit to not listen to it. Blue Morning Blue Day on the other hand doesn't bring conviction to me. It might for some people. (Yeah I am a classic rock afficiondo). Pray about it and if you feel strongenough not to listen, obey God
To those who feel Jesus would not listen to 'the world's' music - I disagree entirely. Jesus not only left EVERYTHING to come into this world - her personally hung with the sinners on their ground. If he came to the world today - he would be amongst the 'least of these' and would walk their walk to know their pain. Listening to 'the world's' music, like looking at the 'world's' art does not touch the heart - THAT is what we give to God, that is our conviction. But RESPECT to all of you!
@FXVG you are right we are in the world, but we shouldnt join in the things of the world like music. we cant join in wickedness. i encourage you to read 1st and 2nd Cor. both books it will help you understand how to handle the world.
@FXVG listening to music would not be a sin...just choose the songs which you know that wouldn't make you far from God's presence...listening to songs like this would be better than listening to worldly songs....God Bless

@definewords You miss the point, I think. We did not make ourselves. We are no more our masters than we are masters of the wind and rain and light. We are made by God, for the glory of God, and He calls us to obedience and faith and holiness. We share communion with God at His invitation and grace. We are punished when we sin, and separated from Him when we choose our selves over Him. His will be done in all things.

@amkaen i both agree and disagree, im a christian and proud of it :) but as a christian i feel that we dont get punished by god while we sin but by ourselves

@kimolainen With respect, doesn't it seem like that line of reasoning is intended to shield God from any appearance of being mean or vindictive or a bully? Not that we don't often wind up causing our own problems, but it seems to me that we are today uncomfortable with God's justice and His Holiness, and focus only on His love. We forget that Jesus will come again as a conquering King, and will then separate humanity for eternity, to His presence, or to damnation. His will be done in all things.

Discernment is the key. Some worldy music isn't edifying to your spirit. Highway to Hell? I cannot think of a good reason to listen to that. Yes, I remember enjoying songs like that, but have been convicted by the Holy Spirit to not listen to it. Blue Morning Blue Day on the other hand doesn't bring conviction to me. It might for some people. (Yeah I am a classic rock afficiondo). Pray about it and if you feel strongenough not to listen, obey God

To those who feel Jesus would not listen to 'the world's' music - I disagree entirely. Jesus not only left EVERYTHING to come into this world - her personally hung with the sinners on their ground. If he came to the world today - he would be amongst the 'least of these' and would walk their walk to know their pain. Listening to 'the world's' music, like looking at the 'world's' art does not touch the heart - THAT is what we give to God, that is our conviction. But RESPECT to all of you!

@Blazingspirit10 @fxvg, you are correct, but let me expand on that for a sec, 1 thesselonians 5:22 says to avoid evil, and the appearance of evil.. so like... if listening to all those bad worldly songs makes a brother christian stumble, and hes trippin wondering why you are listening to those songs, then you shouldnt be listening to those songs in the first place.... so um... yeah.. just a thought :)
