hej,anyone here want to represent Greenland in our online song contest? its like eurovisionm but u play a active role and get in contact with persons all over the world. CLICK ----> valnakinvision.webs.con <-------- or contact me for more infromation!!
@meh23p Most of the Greenlandic population are Inuit (88%) and Canada has almost all of the remaining Inuit peoples (the exception being the few in Alaska and Siberia).
@dave19941000 Yeah, but I don't see any reason they would need to be in the same country for that. The cultural bonds can easily still be nurtured separate from each other.
And besides, it's going to take several decades before Greenland is ready for independence. They only just started having self-governance. When the Faeroes still have a long way to go, I think Greenland, with its massive infrastructural challenges, will have to wait even longer.
Lived in Greenland for 2 months in 2009. Got the feeling that they don't want total independence right now. But if they do I wish them luck if they do want it! Greenlanders are probably the nicest people I've ever met, but quite reserved. I think they can do it if they really desire it and work hard to build their country!
:) It is still danish kingdom, hopefully I'm not the only one in here take pride in that.. if it weren't for denmark, american probably would have greenland..
Don't forget denmark still gives grants.
I understand that we are not either danish, americans, or another, but the fact still reminds we are still part of Denmark.. as long as some money come from there, it'll be still part of Denmark.
France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Andorra, San Marino and Vatican City all evolved from the Frankish Kingdom of Austrasia which corresponds to the Netherlands of nowadays and a large part of Germany. They should all belong to the Netherlands again.
See what you get? Would be interesting if made true but that's it.
norway was not a colony of danmark. it was a union. the sam ting with the swidish rule. occupietion do not count. can you tel me when finnland was occupied norway? what i am saying is that when denmark was forced to "give away" norway to sweden. iceland, greenland and faroe islands should have given away with norway.
You're right, but in our language Bohemia (Čechy) is exactly the same as Czechia, so some Moravians may be (and are) upset that in the name Czech Republic only the Bohemian part is involved :-)
We had actually 3 Luxembourgian kings, the first one was ok, the second one was an alcoholic and the third one was a bitch:) So somebody had to protest:)
I know about all three kings, didn't know what they were like though. Duke John I was much more interesting anyway. Two beer brands are named for him so that's a good indicator.
And don't take too much care for toponyms, Flanders (of which part is in the Netherlands and part in France) is also actually just the western part of the region of Flanders, but the Brabantians don't really mind. The Limburgians may but that's because they don't like people speaking Dutch in general.
That's right, I don't take much care for toponyms:) The bad thing about all this is that people take too much care for the names and the language they speak and think that their nations are the most genuine, the bravest and the best of all...which causes problems...
Greenland will not be independent they cant handle it. They dont have any resources to live by expect mines and fishery. The greenlanders themself dont want it either. I find it pretty cool they are the only REAL native Americans actually still alive. Those Inuit fellows. Respect to that.
We area not americans, we are not danish, my country is not danish territory, its OUR territory! We want to be independent, we can handle it, talk about something you know about please. No hard feelings ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well you cant so thats something totally diffrent. And yes you are Denmarks soil, you pay tax to us vote for goverment. And yes you are native american tribes also called red skins fighthing against a guy called custer for exampel. Indians.
I agree with my Greenlandic neighbor. They can handle being independent. Greenlanders are not a part of the Danish nation even though they are part of the Danish state so I think they should become independent in time, when they are ready and willing and they should do it in friendship with Denmark, like Iceland did decades ago!
@malelion Of course the rude comments are all from non-Greenlanders. People from hotter countries like to be rude on other countries' anthem videos. So, great respect to Greenland, our good friendly neighbour! From Canada.
@malelion you are american geographycally ( i mean american continent) , your country is a country protected/inside denmark , its your territory, of course , because you are greenlandic and danish , about handle it i don't think so ( at first sight, altough i know that greenland is not poor :)
@malelion you are both greenlandic and danish even if you not want , legally , and i know that you not are inside denmark but you are a danish colony with home rule
@malelion "our own" ?? whatcha talkin' about, thanks to dk the schools and medicin are free for y'all, thanks to DK you have kroner and just a whole lot of thanks to DK for the things they helped with LOL I know what I'm talking . All in all was born/rasied in greenaland while it was danish territory, so I'm proud to say I'm greenlandic-danish :D love 2 of my countries equally.. thinks it's naive thought for wishing to be independant, and I for one can not see how greenland'll survive,.
@CymruDK During World War II Germany was fucking every country up in Europe and would have eventually invaded Greenland. Since Denmark was invaded it could no longer protect Greenland so the US came in and made bases and airstrips there to protect it. Since then the US is still protecting Greenland but it's still recognized as Danish sovereignty
@horuz58 If Hitler won against Britain and Russia I have no doubt he'd go for Greenland. Think about it, he would have an AMAZING staging point to launch his attack on Northern Canada. (And when I say launch, I basically mean walk in. Northern Canada is deserted NOW...imagine it 65 years ago?)
Slowly he could move south, attack Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver etc. From there he simply works his way down.
@malelion Try to understand than you and your territory will dive to anarchy if danish give to greenland a indipendence. You are too stupid to care for yourself

Greenland was a Norwigan a colony, so it should be own by Norway, if not danmark had it.

@Batman1268
Norway was a Danish colony, it should be Danish.
Norway was part of Sweden, it should be Swedish.
Norway's King is from the UK, it should be British.
Norway was occupied by Germany and Finland, it should be partly Finnish, partly German.
What more can I bring to the table?
Quintinohthree 1 year ago
@Quintinohthree The Kalmar Union was ruled by Denmark, Scandinavia should be Danish ;)

@Batman1268
It was pretty subordinate to Denmark. It certainly wasn't an equal union.
Finland Occupied parts of Norway in WWII.
And colonies and other territories change hands easily, especially when the country owning them is pretty much a colony, get over it.
Quintinohthree 11 months ago
@Quintinohthree
norway was more intergreated then a colony, you could almost say it was denmark, but it was still a union.
befor the kalmar union was norway the stronger part in a union between noreway and denmark ;)

Quintinohthree 11 months ago
@Quintinohthree Same story here:)
Bohemia (now Czech Rep) was a part of Great Moravia, it should be called Moravian Republic nowadays...
It was a big power in Europe, it should be at least 5 times bigger than it is
Its king was a Luxembourgian, we should be part of Luxembourg then
Its king was a Jagellonian (Lithuanian), we should be Lithuanian
It was ruled by Austria for 400 years, we should be Austrian
It was occupied by Germany, it was occupied by Russia... and yet we're still here:)
tykvun 10 months ago
@tykvun
Moravia is a part of the Czech Republic, just like Bohemia, and they're all Czechs. But you know that.
By the way, your Luxembourgian King was my Duke. It stayed that way untill some protestants, erm, protested.

With a burning desire to develop what you have to give, renewing,
