  • 68 years undersea and not a rusticle in sight. Wonder how they patched up the hole so quick before it sank for a 2nd time?

  • esse ´é meu sonho !!!!

  • Terrible Video Quality

  • @MrClone501st Yes, it´s not the best, but if you look around here on youtube you will found many more that are really terrible... so i only can say that your comment is terrible...

  • TitanicWHV I am amazed at how many readers cannot figure out that this was a movie made five years before the Titanic wreckage was discovered. And, it's quite possible that the Clive Cussler novel on which this movie was based plus this movie alone may well have provided some incentive to find the Titanic. Well done. Thank you for posting this. Imagine if you will, the reception from New York if the Titanic had actually been towed into harbor in 1980!

  • @FylthyBeest Thanks for your comments. Yes, many people don´t know that the movie is from 1980 and the wreck was found in 1985. It´s not the best movie, right, but i love the raising sequence and ofcourse that towing to New York. As they say in "Ghostbusters II": Better late than never! :)

  • TitanicWHV I'm going to add another comment. I do not believe the lack of success of this film was due to the actors or their acting. Jason Robards, Richard Jordan, Anne Archer, Sir Alec Guinness, M. Emmet Walsh and the others are all fine and gifted actors. The problem was probably elsewhere, possibly even timing. But, the premise, five years before Titanic was discovered, was interesting and, more importantly, believable. For those doubting the potential, watch beginning at 7:15.

  • TitanicWHV Thank you. I've read the disparaging and overly critical comments, most of them uneducated. This movie was based on a great Clive Cussler novel and made five years before the actual discovery of the Titanic. The condition of the Titanic was unknown. What was suggested by Mister Cussler and his advisors was plausible. Using his researched knowledge, a fantastic possibility was published and filmed. Though it wasn't filmed to the like of most critics, the effects were great.

  • say if the Titanic was one whole piece and in as good condition as it is in this movie, do we have the technology to bring it up with out smashing it up all to shit? I mean I think right now it's like 2 or 3 miles down from the surface.... that would be a lot of cable and speaking of cable, can we pick up 45,500 tons with enough cable?

  • @ninjausa86 Maybe, there were many ideas being thrown around after it went down, all a bit farfetched, even the Donald Duck idea of filling it with ping pong balls (of course they would use some steal or metal surfaced ball, probably still wouldn't work) as for a cable, remember the Glomar Challenger was basically for attempting to bring up the Russian K-129 nuclear sub, granted not near as big, but if someone had more money the sense, then maybe it could have been possible.

  • @ninjausa86

The ship is literally falling apart just sitting there. Due to rust. It would be impossible to bring it up, it would collaps in on itself if you tried.

  • @Draknfyre I kinda thought so.... I was just wondering if we had the technology to bring it up again

  • @ninjausa86 dude titanic cant be brought back to surface the steel plates are to fragile now imagine being underwater for more than 98 yrs and being eaten up slowly by microbes will only make the ship turn into powder got it? and even if they will try, it will cost them so much money for salvaging or raising the ship that broke into two parts :) hope i didnt offend you :)

  • @ninjausa86 yeah your right a 45,500 tons of weight cant be lifted by a cable or sort of, and there should be a multi-billion funds ready for it if they will try right?

  • If they ever remaster the film, I hope they remove those damned air vents alongside the forward mast and return the ship to it's proper look.

  • missing a few scens her.as i remember they almost got in a figth with the russinas durring the raising of the boat.think there are atleast10min missing

  • ill give them a break with the one piece thing, but i think its funny that all the smoke stacks, riging, masts, etc are all right where they left them, has any ship ever been that perfect? silly.

  • I’d sooner buy this on region1DVD rather than rubbish STAR WARS on crappy dtsHDMA rubbish bluray!

“Raise the Titanic” rules in DOLBY STEREO 6track.

  • Easy this was made before the ship was found.

  • @micky101993 Well they could remake it. Please no…!

This is classic even if there is some inaccuracy. Everything up till then was mystery about where the R.M.S. Titanic laid.

  • how come in some movies they show the titanic s a whole?

  • A million thanks for uploading this old movie, it´s not easy to find this one anymore.

  • hey..it was a movie...a spy-adventure film...enjoy it for what it was

  • its a f$%&ing movie relax!!!!!

  • I have to say, the score is really good.

  • Pa mal du tout ! C'est pas très historique vu que l'épave est presque détruite, mais...

  • Raise The Titanic was filmed 5 year before they found the actual wreck. In 1985 wen they found the ship the people who thought they saw the ship broke in half in 1912 they were actually right

  • Listen everyone when the Titanic sank in 1912 there were loads of inquiry's and most people thought they saw the sink intact and very few saw the ship broke in half. So the inquiry's beleved that titanic went down intact saw after wen they made movies about titanic u see her intact

  • i ment to say ship sink intact

  • There were indeed many who saw the ship sink. But why have none of those who survived said that it broke in half? Could they not see it?

  • Titanic broke in two....there were two pieces found facing away from each other ....the end....avatar sucked

  • This is CRAY-ZY. imagine if this could have really happened.... whoa. A shame (but not a surprise) that the ship deteriorated to the extent it did in reality.

  • For those who are whinning about the Titanic split in to two pieces...DUH!!!!NO KIDDING! This film was made before they discovered the ship! Titanic wasn't discovered until 1985 and that is when they found out it was in two pieces!

Get your facts together before posting HELLOOOOOOO!

  • AND...It's ONLY A MOVIE!

  • kids watched Cameroon's movie (which in fact is typical love story) and they think they know everything about this ship :| RTT was quite good, not ideal, but interesting

  • well but till 1985 they weren´t sure that the titanic really spit in two parts.

  • its stupid for one thing, the titanic spit in two when she sank, here in the movie there rasing the whole ship.. silly

  • Look at the old Titanic Films, there is never a break in, because they don´t believe in that break-therory. And so that movie here is from 1980 and the wrack was found in 1985 they took an complete TITANIC ;). ---> NOT SILLY

  • if you watch the ghosts from the abyss(james cameron) you can see that the ship is split in two

  • Yes, thats from 2004 or so, but as they did Raise the Titanic in 1980 the real wreck wasn´t found ;) I know, you see the break in that Titanic movie from 1996, in camerons titanic movie and ofcourse in ghosts from the abyss. But in the older you don´t see an break. In that german film from 1943 you see nothing, in Titanic from 1953 there is an explosion, in that 1958 movie only the last funnel is falling and in the 1979 SOS Titanic Movie is no break, too ;)

  • ok well im not going to argue with u dude.. i think the point is im trying to make is that theres no posible way to raise her in any way, they didnt find the ship until 1984.. even then it would have been difficult, i suppose if they had todays technology back in 1912 they may have brought her up as she was still intact if u were.. but she would just crumble to nothing these days, any how no one is alllowed to go down there anymore and explore... .

  • 'Raise The Titanic' can only be "silly" in todays standards if you dont see the film for what it is - a work of fiction. The public in 1912 were told two stories of the sinking. She broke up, she sank intact. As there were some surviving officers, they stated she sank intact". Surviving passengers also said she broke apart. It was better (in 1912) to believe a respected man as a officer than a passenger who was out to discredit.

  • @TitanicWHV I think for some survives who was looking the opposite way when she broke in half a lot can happen a in few seconds when you turn around you might only see the aft end of the Titanic going under the ocean.

Or it could be that she did go under intact and started to break about after a few minutes as the journey down would take a while.

  • read books before you leave stupid comment.. every source of knowledge can show you that this detail is still mistery, even Ch. Lightoller said the ship sank in one piece.. It is just a movie accept this in common just like you know the ship is still on the bottom of the athlatic

  • I wouldnt like to see the ship raised, and to be honest, they probably couldnt, due to it's disintegration, however i would like to see an identical ship built. And to ride on it, it's mandatory 1912's dress code :p

  • not only that, but the metal on the titanic right now has been so eroded by the seawater it pretty much has the consistency of wet cardboard.

  • I would love forthem to resurect both halves before some billionaire pillages it. On the other hand, the realization of just how real that tragedy was would fry you. A floating tomb where many met the worst kind of death imagineable...drowning in sub zero water and total darkness while being dragged to the bottom of the ocean. I've seen parts ofit onland, but to see the actual ship from a tragedy that's so far gone that it feels like a fairytale would be life changing. I say bring her home.

  • That is a good quetion. I would give about anything to see titanic raise from the depths. However that would be wrong on so many levels. First of all it is the grave site of 1500 people. And if they raised it, i don't want to know what they would do to it. Possibly fix it up and make it a museum or something. That would rob it of the magic that Titanic is made of and it would no longer be the ship that i have a passion for. She should remain at rest.

  • if they stood on the titanic they would just fall down through the wood

  • There is no wood left on the decks, except the cork insulation that sat between the teak and steel decks (you had steel laid first, then cork, then teak)

  • Obviously the poor acting of these people is the main fact that made the film flopped. Even so, the raising & arrival scenes ARE awesome, the musical score is perfect. It does make you cry, cause this will be a wish that will never come true do to Titanic's current state.

R.I.P. Titanic, & to the 1500+ who died on you & to all the 705 survivors who had died in the last 97 years.

R.I.P. To the last Titanic survivor, Millvina Dean (Feb 2, 1912- May 31, 2009).

  • Let's put on few simple facts for those who keep on muttering that this is fake.

This is from a adventure film, which was inspired by Clive Cussler's novel with the same title ("Raise the Titanic!"). The novel came out in 1976, and this movie aired in 1980. And at that time almost everyone believed that the Titanic had sunk intact, until the wreck was discovered in September 1985.

And the Titanic you see here is actually a 55 ft scale model, built just for this movie (1979-1980).

  • And if someone keeps on muttering that this just isn't realistic enough, then face this challenge:

Make this same scene with the film technology and Titanic knowledge still from the 1970's, and see the difference.

It wouldn't be so spectacular to see two mostly destroyed halfs of the Titanic being raised from the Atlantic, don't you think?

  • Excellent point

  • wish it was very true

  • is this movie?

  • Titanic haws finally made port

  • You just got to love that little model helicopter that hovers over the Poop Deck 5:04

  • dudes this is from the book raise the titanic by clive cussler this was made before they discovered it was in two pieces

  • oh please, this is more fake than a coin of 1,000,000,000 bucks

  • this was before 1985 when they discovered that the ship split in 2

  • come on people its a feature film lol ok its not scientifically accurate but its a work of fiction. are we to also believe byzantanium is also a real material! fantastic john barry score on this fim by the way!!

  • titanic was divided into two piece. why is it this ship is intact? get more studies .:)

  • this movie was made prior to Robert Ballard finding the actual wreck in 1986

  • It wasn`t discovered in 2 untill 1985

  • the music sounds similar to the Betsy 1978 and Ghost 1988

  • titanic don't even looks like this inside !!!!!!

  • hilarious, it's all intact after 70 years on the ocean floor and he's the only person allowed to walk on it, lol.

  • wow

  • if they can raise this ship i know with all my heart that obama can give us change

  • dude,it can't

  • I love how he goes inside the ship without as much as a hardhat.

  • Looks like she sunk only 2 weeks ago...

This movie was made before the wreck of Titanic was actually found.

Even though whoever made the movie probably didn't do his homework on the ship breaking apart and what 70 years underwater would do to a ship, I think it's just for entertaining interesting thoughts of what is it is possible for Titanic to be raised like that.

  • I don't believe it was fully established from the eyewitnesses that the ship had broken apart.

It wasn't until they found it that they knew for sure.

  • there were certain people like colonel gracie who said it did split in half.

  • Yes...there were witnesses who claimed that but others did not. So it was never really established until they found it....like I said.

  • and it wasn't until 1988 when then rediscovered it

  • some one sure didnt do their history when makin this!

  • & yet this could never happen

  • I'm totally amazed with the sound of iron moving in water. LOL It's so frightening and yet so cool!

Great movie. Interesting to observ thoughts about the Titanic when it's fate and real shape were unknown.

  • lol hihihi XD

  • @Jinxin,. how come they knew the ship that sank was named TITANIC?! How come they knew the exact place, exact feet where the ship sinks?

  • Something about seeing the TITANIC arriving in New York with the World Trade Center towers in the background sparks some intense emotion. The movie captured a moment it didn't even know about.

  • Not to be a geek but it was known that the foward funnel fell down and killed passengers (including, many think, J.J. Astor.)

  • The Great White Star wreckage was divided in two,. and it rose in one piece? lol

  • in that times thay didn`t know about spliting ( people say it in comments many times) besides even if if titanic survived like this it would have many many destroyed parts ..

  • At the time the book was written the TITANIC wasn´t discoverd yet, so they didn´t know :)

  • Better Late than Never!

  • where is the pasenger of the titanic dead body

  • even if they had the stuff i think they'd raise it then it would fall into millions of pieces being like very old..

  • They should make a re-make of this movie as the wreak as we know it today that be cool.

  • yeah dude

  • This movie was made 6 years before they even found out the Titanic broke in two

  • Man i wish. In the future they probably will. Knowing technology these days. All it would take to raise it would be a lot of support.

  • Like the ship was singing after coming up... the movie is good... but faked... sad.

  • get a little rusteze from cars movie it be a'ight

  • how can it be like that when risen when it feel apart when it sunk.

  • 5 years before they even found the ship on the ocean floor

  • If Titanic was intact and raised, she would complete her maiden voyage as she started in 1912.

  • I personaly wouldn't set foot on that thing right out of the ocean. Beautiful scene, however.

  • thats what I thought the metal would be very oxidised and fragile, there is chance you might go straight through.

  • interesting juxtaposition

the titanic with the world-trade towers in the background.

  • This scene is so moving that it nearly makes up for the rest of the movie.

At least the rest of the movie is reverent when it comes to actually dealing with the Titanic.

  • that was done nicely and before animated special effects.

  • Even if the ship was intact they couldn't raise it, the metal is so fragile that it would either colaspe under it's own weight or shake itself to Pieces

  • 65 years later the Titanic completes her Maiden Voyage.

  • except it completed it with no people on board when it left with people

  • I remember there was a Titanic Computer Game I had as a child. Nostalgia.

  • are you thinking of Titainic: Adventure Out of Time? or maybe Titanic: Challenge of Discovery?

  • Out of Time! That was it! With the porthole and the Iceberg within sight. Thanks for jugging my memory.

  • i see the wtc if only they raised it like that

  • that was beautful man

i couldn't stop crying of joy.

  • i wish

  • So sad when she reaches New York...A trip she never completed. :( The Statue of Liberty she never saw and all those with many dreams.

  • im watching this right now! lol this cracked me up when they raised titanic in one peice with all funnels intact and no moss or coral wotsoever xD

but fair enuff this was before they found the ship, so they were clueless about the state it would be in now!

  • theres no coral on it now they thought that the water awas cold enugh to preserve it

  • Although on this part of the movie, as the ship is first rising, it does sound like a freight t train at times.

  • Popular Mechanics ran an article on the possibility of raising the ship.

  • Hollywood producers are such morons. Anyone with half a brain knows that iron rust quickly when exposed to water and wood deteriorates even quicker. I'm not surprised that Ballard expected the staircase to be intact. For an ocean explorer he's certainly not too keen on the elements. Thank God it was a joint effort or else he would still be looking for it.

  • Back then it was believed that the at that depth water was too cold and there was low oxygen concentration to cause rust, so Titanic would have been preserved intact as it has sunk the day before.

Recent discoveries proved that theory wrong.

But back in the time this movie was made it was "accurate" to what science believed at the moment.

  • Science wasn't that ingorant back then. Marine biologists knew that the ocean floor sustained all kinds of marine life and therefore contained plenty of oxygen. Even ice contains oxygen. This movie is just another fantasy that had no current scientific knowledge applied. It's Hollywood.

  • The movie is based on the book which was written based on what was supposed to be "scientific fact" at the moment.

I remember back then some magazines ran articles saying Titanic was "in museum condition" down there. One even had a painting showing a perfectly preserved Titanic laying on the bottom of the sea. It was supposed to be intact and some hinted it could be raised and even restored to service.

I wish I had kept those magazines so I could scan them and show them to you.

  • I know the book was not based on scientific fact because the information it contained was scientifically disputed. Even my elementary science teacher said it's probably rusted. The only "intact" aspect about the book was that most believed the ship didn't split when several eye witness accounts had indicated that it did.

I never heard of any magazine stating that the ship could be restored to service, however I did read how quickly the ship would deteriorate if found and brought to the surface.

  • That you never head or the magazines doesn't mean they didn't exist. I had them back in the eighties. Those magazines said the ship was somehow "frozen in time" because of "cold waters and low oxygen" condition.

I'm not saying it was true or that the science behind the articles was accurate.

I'm saying that at least some people believed that and probably the author of the book based his fiction on those articles, because the novel repeats the same "cold waters and low oxygen" thing.

  • I do recall news articles that speculated the ship could be preserved in prestine condition but those were quickly shot down. The science community said that if anything, the rate of decay would be slowed due to the depth and temperature, but nothing was stated that the ship would not be rusting or the paint would still be on. I imagine this was the belief for many years after it sank though not when the book was written except maybe from hopeful Titanic fanatics.

  • Most notable is the fact that nobody imagined the existence of iron-eating bacteria which is the actual cause of Titanic's rusting away.

  • titanic is a nice ship and a big one

  • Raise the Titianic would be a stupid name if they got there and said... Shit a hole! Well, let's go home.

  • These were the best parts of the whole, damn movie in my opinion.

  • i know. i dont care how "fake" it is. its just beautiful fwiw. almost brings a tear to my eye

  • i guess the big split is gone or this is a documentary

  • this movie was made about six years before the wreck was actually found

  • ok.i dont get this.

they raised the ship.ok i get that.

but why did the ship not sink again, because did we forget about the whole in the ship that made it sink first.!

and also.i doubt that a ship that has been under water fer 70 years, will look that good.and i doubt even more.that you would be able to walk on it.

this film wus not thought out rite at all

  • Hey, it's only a movie, adapted from a book, and only for entertainment purposes. Besides, in the movie, they patched up the hole so that the ship would stay afloat.

  • shity movie :)

  • itz only a movie m8 Hollywood license there

  • this isn't the titanic because hay one difference in the proa what no hay in the real titanic

  • I just don't really care that ship is calling raise it no mater thow no matter what just raise it it deserves to be recused at long last and i will do it no matter what ahg everthing else let's bring ti back!

  • this movie was filmed 5 yrs before Dr Ballard discovered Titanic. It was never known of her breakup in 2, and the 3 remaining smoke stacks are there. The scene I admired the most is when the ship is going through the NY harbor. KInd of a what if ????

  • titanic was rip iin haft .

  • looks better than CGI, which looks unnatural and metalic, the old effects are the best!

  • The Titanic model looked all right but with two problems there was nothing standing next to the forward mast and the rail at the very tip of the bow was different but other that the movie was fine.

  • I would also agree that in fact the First class dining salonn didn't look like that and also it wasn't located on A Deck. It was located on D deck next to the reception room. The staircase looked abit wrong because when passengers walk on to the boat deck in the staircase can walk around and look at the clock. The only thing that was right of the stairs in the movie was the stairs, the clock and the dome.

  • Rirst of all, the foremast did not look like that. Second, the titanic was two miles down. How did it go from the ocean floor to the surface in a matter of minutes?

  • uuueeggg they made the grand staircase look nothing like the real one!

  • wHY COULDN'T THEY LEAVE THE TITANIC IN PEACE? ITS SO UNFAIR![IN THIS MOVIE]

  • I agree with you. They should leave it in peace. Keep in mind. It is just a movie.

  • Comment removed

  • Where did you find this in widescreen? I have never seen this in the proper aspect ratio.

  • It´s the 2007 release DVD. You can find it on Ebay or Amazon for example.

  • was this movie made before they actually found the titanic?

  • Yes, they did the movie in 1980. And Titanic actually was found in September 1985.

  • no.. the actual ship wasnt found until the fall of 1985. This movie was made 5 yrs earlier, but a credible story around the wreck however

  • can you uploaded the full movie please ??????

    thanks

  • I meant part 4.

  • It will come tomorrow:D

  • I would like to see part 3, is there one going to be uploaded?

  • oh, yes, i like it very much:)

  • good effects! movie sucks tho
