If you go to Europe, the people are complacent with their government, and support taxation without realizing it makes them poor. I think that America is the only place in the industrialized world where people actually stand up for their personal freedom and rights.

The bottom line is that American's receive more care already, and the lack of competition drives up the cost. The U.K. has problems as well, and your statement that taxes prevent us from becoming poor is absurd from an economic standpoint. The only way Europe can fight raising health care costs is by rationing.

It's not absurd at all. Taxes pay for social services, welfare, police, and health services that would otherwise cripple us if things went wrong. Tax is merely buying in bulk so one gets goods and services at the cheapest rate. A nationalised health service does not make profits and costs around half as much as US healthcare. Also there is no rationing in Europe, we all get the care we need. US healthcare is just a scam that doesn't even cover the poorest.
For most intents and purposes there is no rationed healthcare in the UK apart from for the most bizarre of treatments which is still available to those who are rich enough to go private anyway. Everyone is covered in the UK for just about every ailment, all paid for by general taxation which takes into account ability to pay. It does this at half the cost per head of the US heathcare system.

@adeworks Insurance denial in America is averaged at 5% a year, medicaid (government) being the largest rate of denial. The bottom line is that American's receive more care already, and the lack of competition drives up the cost. The U.K. has problems as well, and your statement that taxes prevent us from becoming poor is absurd from an economic standpoint. The only way Europe can fight raising health care costs is by rationing.
This is more of an ideological argument though, not my favorite.

It's not absurd at all. Taxes pay for social services, welfare, police, and health services that would otherwise cripple us if things went wrong. Tax is merely buying in bulk so one gets goods and services at the cheapest rate. A nationalised health service does not make profits and costs around half as much as US healthcare. Also there is no rationing in Europe, we all get the care we need. US healthcare is just a scam that doesn't even cover the poorest.

For most intents and purposes there is no rationed healthcare in the UK apart from for the most bizarre of treatments which is still available to those who are rich enough to go private anyway. Everyone is covered in the UK for just about every ailment, all paid for by general taxation which takes into account ability to pay. It does this at half the cost per head of the US heathcare system.

And those workers are required to cede huge portions of their pay -something which most here don't want to face (we value something called "freedom" over here. You should try it sometime.) By the way, how's rationed care working out for cancer patients in the UK? You know nothing about the UK healthcare system. Workers pay a small amount of their wages towards Healthcare and Welfare which is far less than private medical insurance would cost. Cancer treatment is free in the UK - unlike in the US where young people die if they have no insurance. You have far less freedom in the US than we have in the UK, you just know no different.

The govt. has addressed really how to get medical costs reduced. Beefing up the insurance end of it was a big cop out and doesn't solve anything. It is certainly noble to want healthcare and insurance for everyone. The problem with this plan is that you have to steal money from people to pay someone else's bills, and sometimes, the guy you're stealing from needs the money more than the guy you plan to give it to. You just cannot justify stealing by contributing the proceeds to your 'good cause'. People have a right to choose who they do and do not support financially.
