  • From an ex RHF pride and glory to you

  • The first death in this video was March 2003, nearly 9 years ago. The latest in this video was Sept 2008, over 3 years ago. We beat Hitler in 4 years from US perspective and 6 years from the English perspective. Why are we wasting these fine young men for over 9 years?

  • The soldiers who didn't see freedom:'(

  • This song is oftren viewed as twee, not in my case and indeed it has been a favourite on youtube for a long time. I love this as the backing to the sad Role of Honour. Very touching.

  • no-one here can ever imagine the sacrifice these soldiers gave for there country, They gave so much for this land that we call home, They went to war to defend there homeland "scotland" and for that i see them as the hero's of Scotland they are the protectors.

I cant even begin to state how thankfull i am for the brave younge men and woman out there fighting to defend our way of life. THANK YOU!!

  • Some Lovely men ! No Doubt ...But when will Men learn to say NO NO to their leaders who act as masters NO to tyranny NO to destruction undeserved.

Until then Many will weep & should weep.

  • This has touched me! god bless all them heroes!

  • Another visit just to catch up and wish all our guys over there a safe return. You are all heroes - each and every one!!!

  • rest in peace brave warriors, tonight you dine in valhalla

  • the scots are the back bone of the british army.

  • @Hopeful2121, I also am an Ex serviceman, and I'm sure the lads who served with me, and died, wouldn't have cared less about the spelling, I know I wouldn't care, its the sentiments that count.

  • In the name of god and all parents get our boys out of thid flea ridden shit hole that god deserted years ago . Why are our brave Soldiers,Sailors and Airmen and Women getting killed ??? I've got a great idea lets gather up all these protestors and poloticians and send the ass holes out to helmand province in place of our troops .Lets start with the prime minister and the cabinet then he house of commons and the entire shadow cabinet .Would our US cousions agree i wonder ????

  • @MrKingtiger007 The protesters are on our side - they want our lads out of there too. The politicians can get sent out there though :)

  • had the pleasure of drinking with scottish marines the other day. met then in the bar and had to buy them drinks. Afterall it is thanks to them i am free to do so in the first place. Heroes everyone. Many say they love thier country, but to give your life without question, there is no greater statement of bravery and selflessness. We owe it to them who have lost their lives to live ours to the most becasue, at the end of the da, thats what they fight for.

  • @sgordon92 unfortuantly, weve just gave up our freedom for security. our forefathers and family that has died in wars would be turning in there graves.

  • God bless the families of these grand heroes....

  • Again this video haunts me. Brave men doing their duty. Did their Government do the duty of sending them into the right war?

  • Heroes all. But look at the dates. We have been there far too long.

  • Oh this makes me cry My heart and wishes go to everyone that these brave men left behind, mums, dads, wives, kids, everyone that lost someone,

  • This single record was on every duke box in every Scottish Regiment NAAFI / Mess bar that I was ever priviledged to be invited into.

I served with all of them on and off throughout my 25 years as a Royal Engineer,

Great times, Sad times, Great lads, I walked with Giants, my fellow Scotsmen.

  • I've posted too many times, yet I am ever moved by this video. I am an American and so value our British allies. Is it a good war? I don't know the answer. But I know these "Scottish Soldiers" are the best. They gave all they could give for what they believed in,. They gave their lives to protect us. They deserve all honor that can be given to them. Thanks for making this video.

  • @johnvernon2001 - -as a fellow Yank, my friend, I cannot help but concur.....our lives are owed, and I have no excuse for my next breath...

  • A poignant reminder of the spirit of brave men. RIP Sons of Scotland - from Mosgiel, Dunedin New Zealand.

  • RIP to all soldiers killed in action and especially to SGT Jon Mathews, me myself known him in Bad Fallingbostel, Germany, his wife and himself was good friends of my mum and dad and a great man himself, also his brother who used to live here but is now back in UK, love you man!

  • They are our honoured Dead. Thank You will never be enough.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written and/or sung. One of my best friends is Scottish, but now lives in Tennessee. Some people are against the war that is not going on, but they have to remember that these soldiers did not start the war. However, they volunteered to defend their country; and also to fight for the freedom of others.

  • Fearless, Brave and simply the best of Scots. RIP

  • It makes me so sad to know that these brave souls died to protect all of us .......my heart goes out to their families and loved onesxxx

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful and moving tribute.

  • I keep coming back to this video even though it breaks my heart every time I see it. I am an American, and sincerely appreciate the service of these heroes to a common cause.

  • Yiu are doing what I want to but I done my time in NI so I am too old

  • Our Boys serve loyally with English, Welsh and North Irishmen.

The sacrifice they made, and continue to be made, can never be paid in full.

    Thank you for serving.

  • God bells you all from a friend south of the border

  • Some of Scotlands finnest sons, let us make sure we do not forget ye, my brave wee bonnie lads. Rememebr there will always be a welcome in the hill side for ye.

  • Scotland has to become a great sovereign nation again. The Scottish people for far too long have been used as military pawns and im sick of it. Our ancestors fought and died for us to live here and what did we do with that gift? We let the everyone else walk all over our great nation sending our great peoples to foreign lands to fight and die over things that dont concern Scotland.

This country has a free spirit that can never die and if the people were just aware of that!!!!

  • @GoodyWillPwnJ00

Oh, the people ARE aware of that, it's just that we don't share your Separatist views!!

  • We all do our duty to defend our home and hearth at the end of the day. The fact that English, Scots, Welsh and Irish can do it together should give us all hope

  • This made me cry........they all look so young. God bless them all and their families.

  • I made a comment on this webpage about a month ago. I made a mistake in posting certain views that don’t belong on a tribute to fallen soldiers. I humbly apologize to anyone I offended.

  • I would also want to give my thank you to all the British soldiers who have given their lives in support of freedom everywhere. God bless you and your families.

  • totally moving

  • god bless scotlands heros

  • We shall remember our friends. Long gone but not forgotten. NIO buds and frends

  • Sons of Scotland, we'll never forget U, rest in peace!

  • @indefensio1642 I am sorry but I think your comment is unfair. Not all muslims are bad people. You must remember we are the invading force.Would we just roll over if we were invaded. No we would not.We would fight with every means possible.I have many decent muslim friends. They are not all terrorists. But I do think our soldiers are magnificent and feel sad for those who have lost their life.God bless all and I hope all our boys are back home soon.

  • He was too young, they should recall all us older lads. Still capable and willing to go before the kids. Sorry, old hand. Think I should have been sent first. I am a Dad but my kids are all older

  • Just wanted to say thank you to all the English and Scotts that have given their life in support of freedom everywhere. Today is Memorial Day in the US and I give thanks to all of you for the high price paid. • @Hopeful2121 hope your son returns safe sound and proud...........scotland forever...

  • aye Scottie because if you were SAS SBS or even delta yeah widnae talk like that, nice sentiment though

  • @YheSCOTTIE4 sorry pal.i smeel the distinct odour of shit with your story although I agree with your statements.

  • I served my country for many years, which many were spent in the special forces.Let us not say RIP. But let us all be glad that they lived and served our country. As a Scottie,it makes no difference,as we are all the same in the armed forces.Remember them as one of your family and they shall never grow old and weary as we are left to grow old.Go forward young ones and be not afraid,as one day we shall all be going home.

  • Here's to the hill, the Heath , the heather, the bonnet, the plaid and the feather. Here's to the Heros Scotland can boast.May thier names never Die, Now that's a real scottish toast.

It's a family tradition of the Muir Clan of Scotland to say this upon the Birth or death of either a family member or a Hero who died serving scotland.

NEVER FORGET those who have died in the line of battle for then thier fight will have been in Vain

  • I'm an American also and I want to thank all of the allies in the fight against terrorism. Thanks to all of the soldiers and their families for their many sacrifices.

I also thank the Muslim leaders who are trying to stop this insanity instigated by a relatively few very deranged old men.

  • Scottish soldiers, the bravest of the brave,God Bless Them All.

  • @juliuscheide88 theres nothing wrong with the scottish accent shut your mouth yank , why would you put that on this video, disrespectful piece of shite

  • @squakrock

Love the Scottish accent, In my part of of the deep south of New Zealand our accent was influenced by the early Scots settlers. Many of us have an ancestoral link to Scotland and are proud of it

The last part of video, The ode, it is spoken at our ANZAC day dawn parade, April 25th
