That GP9 and slug are now working in Proctor Yard in Minnesota with another GP9 in place of that GP38-2.

First off, I never see slugs coming from Appleton, Wisconsin and back. Second, its weird for a GP9 leading it against the GP38-2

That is a yard slug. It is basically a specialized motor that helps out in yard service. Basically it is just a yard engine without a cab. CN uses at least two yard slugs at Homewood.
I have one question, What is that odd flat traincar between the 2 freight engines?
