  • at 1:25 i am 1 of all who saw tape on the 2 phone books but it may have something to do with them riping apart because it is keeping the end pages near each other and also efects the inner pages so they wont seperate so easily...

  • which episode is this on?

  • why

  • 1:14 Close your eyes and it sounds wrong

  • look it up they needed to get a tank to to do it

  • that is so cool

  • It has tape connecting the two phonebooks.

  • @wiredgroup tape? lol i think the tape would have broke before the spine of the phone book. common sense, so rare it's a super power.

  • Must have taken ages to get the pages to overlap that way.

  • At 1:00 I expected him to go " *snort snort* ".

  • I saw this on tv and they made some kind of mould so it wouldn't be possilble to rip the phone books and guess what? They used two USA Millitary tanks and suceed to separate them ^^:)

  • i do this with my friends books at school and they get all pissed :p

  • Who has a phone book anymore?

  • sooooo stupid omg!

  • Press a hold one. dickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickdickldcdifdjfidsjifshdhfjsdsff

  • i wuz on another tab and i hear "aww its starting to hurt..."

  • Friction does not depend on surface area just the surface type

  • 1:40 "pewngggg"

  • surface area and friction?? sounds kinky.

  • @Nhoshishi you need to get laid dude.

  • @Nhoshishi You wouldn't believe that when my physics teacher was talking about friction she said 'it's one of the most desirable force in the world'

The whole class busted out laughing :P

  • Does anyone notice that there's red tape around the books at 1:09

Isn't going to help separate them <__<

  • @FrozenRyu7 its there to hold the covers of the phonebook togther, so it doesnt start unravelling

  • @Jimkid118 I still don't get it. XDDD Never mind. ^__^

  • @FrozenRyu7 Because if they didn't have a little tape on the outside then it would start to unravel like it did at 2:26, the pages would start falling out of the interleaved pattern.

  • @BakuraHeart Okay. :]

  • Comment removed

  • They triiiiied to rip it with a forklift! Ole!

  • That's what she said.

  • hahaha...laughed my stomach out!!!

  • I would very much like to have sex with the red headed girl

  • Anyone else have playback issues with this video?

  • Its impossible

  • @omercan108 it is if u tear it at a exact point where its glued!

  • @stilian1000 it's not glued my friend :) see also at the end.

  • @failingwithin i mean u know a phone book is a cartboard whith many pages GLUED at the middle fo the cartboard there is the point where u can tear it

  • can't they just separate the pages individually?

  • @danthecat21 Yeah, they could, but im assuming that that isn't the myth. That's the most practical and tedious thing to do.

  • believe it or not this is how rope bridges made of grass are made using the exact same principle of a surface area and friction

together they can withstandle INCREDIBLE amounts of forces under tension

  • they end up using tanks lol

  • Hold down 6 at 1:36

  • 1:41 LOL I replay it 100 times xD

  • i tried this!! IF U DONT BELIEVE THIS IT WORKS, U JUST GOTTA GET BOOKS THAT HAVE ENOUGH PAGES TO LINK TOGETHER

  • this has tremendous implications. You can make some super strong joint with this sort of mechanism.

  • i noticed duct tape was holding them together.?

  • but criss angel can rip one in half

  • i want their job.

  • im amazed at how long it must have taken to layer all the pages together

  • Tory and Kari at 1:16 is hilarious!

  • this concept has a lot of potential. like building something indestructable by normal means just by overlapping layers of stuff

  • @44USELESS44 - That's the idea behind the "carbon fiber technology" that is being used in a lot of aircraft and things these days. They 'paint' on layers of carbon fibers and it becomes very strong, especially when the layers are different directions.

  • @TheFanglyfish yeah they cld use it for rockets i meant.

  • @44USELESS44 Carbon fiber. Ever heard of the Boeing 787? They already do this.

  • @44USELESS44 actually if you drive a car straight into a wall of phonebooks it would still be ripped apart. it has something to do with the angle of impact.

  • 00:01

  • how the fuck do you do that?

  • @trryeer cool story

  • hang a car from it.

lol this is a game i like to call...break your teeth.

  • @SlingerMarshall you could definitely hang a car with those two books together like that. In this full episode they try all kinds of stuff and they eventually use two WW2 era tanks to pull.....and they rip the books.

  • I tried that with some ads magazines. No chance.

  • or maybe anybody knows where i can see this chapter (full)? Thanks :)

  • can anybody explain this in a physical way please?

  • @Alejosk890 friction @@ i think

  • 1:18

    THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

  • @symbolofkings chuck norris needs you to get off his dick. look i have nothing against chuck norris but all theses comments are really repetitive and annoying

  • look at adams hair! (the fact that it is there)

  • Chuck Norris can pull it abart with his dick..

  • is it supposed to be 2 or 1? whats the myth

  • 1:38 .. typical dumb whore not nowing her limits

  • she says oh fucken hell at 47

  • @snakehead497 she said, "Ow, I think I broke a nail"

  • @snakehead497 no. she says 'i think i broke a naill.'

  • @snakehead497 she actually says "Oh I broke a nail"

  • my friend did that with 2 textbooks and told me to try to pull them apart, all you have to do is pull the top part apart then the bottom pert, simple

  • 1:15 "fap fap fap" oh its starting to hurt!" lol

  • lol 1:16-1:20 intense jacking off

  • this is fake my brother ripped one in half

  • @theman2meet5 u really arnt paying attenchion are u?

  • @theman2meet5 no thats two linked in this video. ffs.

  • did they only take to books and lay one side on another?

  • theres tape on side wtf

  • i did that with a chinese phone book... they are indestructible -_-

  • @ste1nunn rofl :L

  • u gotta be gentle

  • we tried this ourselves and it was really fun, watch our video in the video responses

  • i did that with dictionaries once. i got them apart eventually.

  • i miss this show

  • 1:40 LMAO !!!!!!!!!!

  • This is false, they later did this but using two tanks going in opposite direction.

  • this is a little game i like to call ...Brake youre teath .. priceless

  • @Valko19996

Oh god.. tri-fail: "Brake youre teath"

  • @addsfun4 And that was a single epic win.

  • Shit is crazy u can try it with anything like books, notebooks ect. try betting money on this u will make some bank

  • i would put those phonebooks on a bungee cord and jump off a bridge with it.. they would hold.. i hope

  • van der vaals force?

  • @pabloenis no, van der vaals forces are absolutely tiny and work on a molecular level. The large surface area of the inter-connected leaves of paper result in very high friction, and the more you pull, the more the perpendicular forces between the pages (it has the same effect as a chinese finger trap).

  • this is gonna be easy 1 2 3 ow D:

  • in saw a guy rip it in have but not pullm it in half like what the did.

  • Comment removed

  • usually when i play the game "break your teeth" it often involves a hammer, safety goggles, a bike helmet, and a chinstrap

  • Could you poste the rules for that?

  • when i normally play that game it involves liquid nitrogen and a dildo

  • 1:15-1:20 oh its starting to get hurt XD

  • so exactly how much weight CAN the phonebooks reists?

  • I suppose that the paper itself will fail before the tension.

  • 1:15-1:20 is rediculous hahaha

  • 1000cm2?!

    bah! more like 40km2

    1 peice of paper =220cm2x 2000 pages =4km2

  • " this is a little game i like to call break your teeth"

    lolllll X[)

  • have you got any concept of how much those two books are entangled with eachother?

those books have a few thousend pages, with every page pressed up against another page on each side, with about, i guess, a surface area of around 1000cm2

  • 1:40 fail xD

  • saw that shit coming

  • OUCH~!

  • its the same as trying to pulling apart a tree log

  • lol. look at how many plusses you got.

  • @goodmd1242 NOT!

  • How come Tory and Adam are the only ones who get hurt?

  • they always do things that get them hurt

  • @Oguldude and that is why we love them :p

  • @Oguldude ratings. like OCC arguing all the time. . this is one of the better ones i must admit. simple but damned maddening

  • Vld the myth was if you can PULL it apart.

great ideas but its not part of the myth

  • that is really cool

  • lmao one day in the library i did that with 2 random books an i couldnt get them apart so i just left them and like 2 weeks later someone was like "omg

  • trryeer u made my day :D

  • remember the infamous theorized space elevador? well... i think i found something strong enough to hold up!

  • they just had to put them the most closer one to another...

    instead of pulling appart

pushing against... and shaking from side to side

that will make the pages get lose

  • make a vid to prove it then...

  • i meant.. well im not sure what meant i was kinda using vacumm as a crutch kuz i dont know what the word is im lookin 4

  • i did this with the stick notes... then... rilled them up,

    CAN'T GET 'EM OFF.

    just better than this one

  • which means no air btween the pages

  • i think when u pull the pages pull till the shut causing a vacum kinda

  • It is just a friction thing. The pages are pressed together, so a vacuum can't form as there is no space for an absence of air. When you have hundreds upon hundreds of pages not only pressing together but also pinched together, you have a great amount of force to overcome.

  • lmao one day in the library i did that with 2 random books an i couldnt get them apart so i just left them and like 2 weeks later someone was like "omg someone put these 2 books together"

  • i dont understand how they put the books together like that

  • One page at a time you would flip through; a page from book one, a page from book two. So on and so forth until you reach the end of the book and you're done.

  • this myth made me say wtf o.o, it was amazing!

  • i tried that!

  • but with two animorphs books i beat the books the secret is to pull lightley from the corners

  • i did this a home

  • i need to get discovery channel, i hate being left off in the middle of the myth.

  • Adam and Jamie have to create another stacked phonebook, 1 page at a time, and they try just about everything. They went beyond what you'd expect. They brought in 2 TANKS (can't remember, were they Abrams?) anyways, even the tanks strugged but eventually pulled the dictionaries apart. They even tried cars but those didnt work

  • Yeah I remember that. That was just absolutely insane. It took 2 tanks just to tear apart paper!!

  • i thought to rip a phone book in half, you have to push/angle pages into a V and tear up and down...i never did two phone books but i learn the one back in boyscout days

  • didnt you already do that? u finally got it with tanks

  • this is an old one, they resolve it by using 2 tanks with over 4000 pounds of force to get them apart.

  • HOT.........

  • in the full episode it only rips apart after two tanks go full throttle away from eachother attached to this thing

  • paper is also a strong material too wow totally didnt kno that

  • watch the video in the video responces it is the full epsisode

  • Next strongest building material.

  • Ive did this, it works.

  • How do you do that?

  • fold 2 phone books into eachother page for page

  • how do u stick them together???

  • fold 2 phone books into eachother page for page

  • KENTUCKY

  • Hey cool, that was so enlightening. Dont break your teeth guys! hahaha

  • Engineers are now connecting bridge cables with two interlocking phonebooks for new suspension bridges. They could just make a longer cable, but it's more fun this way.

  • Don't forget body armor lol

  • dis iz ameizing! hau dei do it?

  • you just fold all the pages together intertwining them, otherwise:

one page of the first book, one page of the second book.

  • I did this with two small comic books and pulled hard and nothing happened but when i pulled ligtly they came apart

  • lol

  • i didn't know that paper could take that much force, cool!

  • wow

  • Awesome stuff!!!

  • wow!

  • kool
