  • What a lovely video. Parrish Black of The Inner City Crusaders. May 18 2011.

  • this group is still as stong as steel in my heart !!!!!!

  • My favorite Five Star song. "Ooooooo how many lovers "

  • I loved this song ever since a heard it in Ghost Dad during the end credits.

  • @eugene680 yeah but that version on the end of ghost dad is by Gladys knight. I like that version better than five stars honestly.

  • Yeah, I like that version better. I wonder when someone will post the Gladys Knight version on youtube.

  • @eugene680 I know what you mean. I was looking for it too. I don't know where else to look for it.

  • tina arena got nothing on these guys please this is the best version by far.

  • Love this song...........I love their accents so sexy......LOL

  • that man didnt renovate the jaguar my uncle and grandad did!!!!

the make body work for jaguars by hand!!! if you have a classic jaguar and need some new bodywork contact bill lawrance and son today!

  • is iron as strong as steel?

  • oh wow, i remember this. My mom use to play this when she would give me and my sister baths when we were like 5.

  • Thet are so beautiful.

  • I saw Delroy one time in his Lamboghini (white) I shouted How you doing and gave him a thumbs up. He responded by giving me a thumbs up and saying I'm great thanks out the window before driving off (must have exceded the speed limit, but he was young) If I remember right it was near Chessington zoo as it was then I think. Did they live there abouts I wonder ?

I miss these guys so much and the dreaded cassettes I had of them have long come off their spools lol

  • @britanichris Which one is delroy? I'm confused. And is it too much to want them to look exactly like they did then as they do now?! I miss that look of theirs!

  • Never seen the video for this until now!!! Great song and I'm loving the concept for the video!

  • I second that : )

This song puts you in a laid-back zone.

  • listen they lived in sunning hill near ascot berkshire spent £££ on a house spent £££££££on recording equipment the rest is history they went skint and faded away but i still think they were good.....

  • fucking hell I remember all the names: doris, denise, lorraine, delroy and stedman. fucking hell i'm old!!!

  • That just means you have a very good memory! LOL

  • @sy353 not old, lucky! To get to hear this kinda music.

  • Five Star act their little socks off. The dialogue is classic!

  • ok...ummmm....Im 41 now and I was in my early teens when this group came out...I loved this song...my fav from this group....fanx heaps for sharing...aint nothin like the 80's...everything was dammn big!!...lol...

  • x137 hook up i'll take u back there in the back of ur car .lol i dare u

  • This is my absolute favorite song by them. Thanks for the post. :))

  • gud job i got a strong heart just hope this 1 hits were it should honey ..

  • UK rnb most definitely one of my fav groups frm back in the day ...........

  • This one too....never heard of it. But I am lovin the European language in the beginning. Very nice song

  • 5 Star were a such under-rated group. They were massive at their peak in the U.K. but sadly the peak was short-lived. I think that the comparison to the Jacksons did them no good - such pressure for a young group to live up to. Whatever the case may be, they released some fantastic songs that we will all enjoy for many years.

  • This was one of my favorite songs back in the day.

  • love it! im 14 again!!!!!!:-)

  • Classic. First time I've seen the vid =)

  • wow that was great took me way back to my teens..... wish i was back there.

  • 5 STAR ARE FANTASTIC!

  • my favorite love song from FIVE STAR! what a lovely song.yahoo!

  • Fantastic song. Five Star, in my opinion, fantastic!

  • Think concept was quite, er, literal. Old car = made of steel. Denise's love = strong. Et voila. Great song. Love the acting at the beginning too

  • First time I saw the vid too :)

  • This was one of my fave songs that I used to play in the 80' as a teenager! And I still know all the lyrics! LOL XD

  • I must have heard this song hundreds upon hundreds of times, yet until now I never imagined it would be about the love of a car! How bizarre.

  • love this song reminds me of when I met my hubby ..brill times pity he cant remember them... he cant remember what he did last week... anyway this song is better than todays crappy music. x

  • They used to go to a school less than a mile away from mine. They drove past our school one evening, we all cheered and shouted Hey Five Star! They just looked down thier nose at us.

  • I think you're making it up

  • I don't think so. They went to Robert Clack and I was as Mayfield. I have no reason to make it up.

  • @gillianclayton You are hilarious!

  • @R00tn0te

Well, they had talent didn't they? Still bitter are we? Well most of them are living in LA now so get over it already, that was 80's it's 2009 now.

  • Sweet song...

    I'd forgotten about this one.

Alot of their stuff was relationship based.

    Which makes it extra cool.

    Thanks...

  • ..this love is as strong as steel.. can't break it up or break it down its always gonna be around...

    wow... the memories, :))

  • Yes they were great for the time. Shame not still working. Remember playing their music after long shifts in a hotel. These and Queen, Eurythmics, Human League etc. Think its the good ones that are remembered

  • OMG i love this song

  • How can you not love this song?

  • Dude you are Awesome this song has been playin in my head for 20 years finally I got to hear it again thanx so much for puttin this on here

  • Thank you for posting this song, I have listened to this song since my teens but never saw the video clip, unbelievable lol. Until last week lol. Brings back memories of the good ol days....lol

  • Damn this song makes me feel old lol A definite classic, not like the crap that we hear today.

  • No song makes anyone feel old, though I totally agree on that "not like the craps we hear today."

  • Thanks to the person that posted 5 Star! I play videos for my 5 year old and she is excited and wanted to hear them on the radio. I broke it to her that this was from the 80's. It brought back so many memories. Like first love, some I didn't want to remember but knowing what I know now, its COOL! I have shared the videos with my first LOVE,I am, we are 750 miles away, we are still great friends. Smooches to 5 Star and gillianclayton! Music makes stuff happen all over this crazy and cruel world.

  • I loved this group in the 80's when I was young & thought they were an American group Whoops my Bad!I still love them, and I'm so happy to be reunited with them again. Thanks to the peeps who have posted all of the 5 star vids.

  • I think generally when I was in my teens in 80's they were good. Different music style, and very good video qualities for the time. Best of all cannot forget the shoulder pads!!! Remember this was the Dynasty and Colbys era lol x

  • i just saw "Ghost Dad" with Bill Cosby in it, and I listened to this cool song.

  • so smooth, love slow smooching to this

  • I loved five star as a kid! They were the best.

  • One of their best songs! Positve message!

  • Beautiful, i remember this song from silk and steel album. played it to death when i was a wee kiddie lol

  • Loved This group from the start. And this song is one of my favorites by them. "gladys Knight has a killer version of this same tune".

  • After doing some research, I found that Gladys's version is in the movie, "Ghost Dad" with Bill Cosby. It's on the soundtrack. I can't find it on CD anywhere! Does anyone know where I can find Gladys's version (and this one too) on CD?

  • I have them both! Shoot me an email and i will try and email them to you. It may take a minute for me to remember how to do it but i

  • Five Star are the best !

  • Omg totally didn't even know they were English :L:L

  • I luv them

  • most of the early stuff was uptempo, but rain or shine was a nice ballad.

It was during the 90s when they were in america that they released a lot more rnb tracks on the albums shine, eclipse and heart and soul.

  • This is the only slow tempo hit, they had mostly up tempo.

  • have you ever heard Rain or Shine -their most commercial and succesful hit??

  • This is a great song, don't know why it didn't crossover from a UK hit to RB in the States. Five Star were major hitmakers in the UK and I appreciate all these great videos that are uploaded on them. They really made top quality videos. Plastic Surgery and Video cost must be why they went bankrupt.

  • They may have recieved advanced money from the record company and just spent, spent and spent. That in home studio did not help them so sad but I still like 5 star

  • They did'nt have any plastic surgery. when I first saw them, they look the same in 1983 on their debut album. Natural good looks

  • Now this is when so called "black music" was good

  • this is my shit!!!! Excuse my language but i've been looking for this song for ions. Thanks so much for posting! :)

  • they have a dvd out of their videos and you can download their music on itunes

  • This song seems like part of a film, it's smooth, sensual, brilliant, as for the amazing dance, its the best ive seen pure elegance, its better than the jackson, sorry but it is, it has grace, charm, and so much people need today, to chill out dam it.

  • great song ODD VID!

  • Yea! I love this song. I have been looking 4 it for years.

  • Amazing!!!! Brilliant song and some wonderful memories.

  • In US it was clearly underrated. I thought this was going to chart for sure. Yeah a couple of Urban stations did add this song back in 1987. But I guess that it was a little too poppy for Urban, and then probably to Urban for Pop radio, if that makes any sense, really.

  • Denise, developed her own unique style, as did the group. Ok jackson was an inspiration, but not completely, something was totally Five star, I could like them all over again, I do, and Romford Uk, Yea Ha, I know the word elegant is not used today, except for fashion types, but I use it for them boys and girls.

    Massive fan and admirer.

  • Ahhh, I missed this song at the time, really pissed, off, that toad , who made the comment on tv, I think scared off five star. Look at the style of this video, the style of denise, the attitude its so sexy, cheeky.

  • See my space. Geneal comment about group

I am very glad to see Five stars new work on line and to know what they are doing,

My last point is, that Five star also began to form a gothic Rock look and sound I liked that, see 'Stay out of my life, I have never seem such a stunning group of people on TV

And Finally, See 'Strong as stele' WOW , WOW, WOW.

  • all time best group of the 80s, brings back so many memories.

  • This is a timeless love song. One of the greats. It's great to see it in greater circulation.

  • brilliant song

  • Love Love Love, this is a great song, the video is perfect, After all this time I think I still have a crush on the lead singer.

  • love love love 5STAR,

  • i love old videos

  • tina arena's version is BETTER

  • In your opinion.

  • Thanks for posting this. I'm going 2 b singing this song at my wedding and this was before I found it posted on youtube!

  • Maybe I dont watch enough videos, so please correct me if am wrong. THEY ARE THE BEST DANCE GROUP FROM THE 8OS. To be honest they make alot of dancers now look like BLAH! Thank you for posting this group. Am gonna hunt down their greatest hits.

  • don't forget the dvd too lol, has some extras on it

  • great song...can someone tell me what this video is about?

  • i think it was about Denise falling in love with an old car and wanted to get it fixed up and trade her red car in for it (personally though i'd have stuck with the red one lol)

  • No, funkrafied. This video was made as a metaphor. The car, of course was the object of her love. But, if you notice, she really wanted that love to work no matter what and she did whatever she could to fix it and would not take no for an answer. A lot of us just give up on the objects of our love to easily. Even if it can be fixed.

  • Wow, great observation!

  • thanks a million :)

  • The acting in this is truly abysmal, I can only assume the actors were dragged in off the street and working for free, surely Buster didn't pay them?

  • One of their very best songs. Video (acting in particular) is a bit suss!

  • A strong song supported by a overblown video.(Those were the goof ol days!)

  • a fine tune thanks gillian

  • Too much makeup!!

  • I do no like that song.

  • Well, that is your option. It happens to be a nice song written by Diane Warren

  • i love that song

  • They could really sing but act? I'm so glad they made so many videos, most bands don't leave quite the legacy.

  • POST MY COMMENT FUCKIN YOUTUBE!!!

  • LOL! I know it's really slow sometimes.

  • wicked love um all!

  • Kool song!

  • LOVE THOSE ACCENTS! -_-

  • who cares...its still a great love song to listen to...five star rock on!

  • Is she in love with the car or is that the car of a boyfriend who died????

  • this brings me back to high school, i loved this song, they should do like a best of five star or something, because when i hear this it reminds me of neon clothing, scrunchy socks, pastel lipstick and waaaayyy too much sun in spray on our hair, lol, 80's big and brassy!!! love it!!!

  • ohhhhhhhh cool song

  • Oi! Girls in the back-seat of the car! Seat belts on! Lol.

  • I think Tina Arena's version is a million times better than this, this isn't THAT bad though.

  • Tina's version does not sound a million times better it sounds a million times worse. She needs to stop doing remakes and write her own original material you need to post that crap on her own comment board

  • fantastic to see this again thanks five star rule grant

  • One of THE many great old skool slow jams.

  • My boy just ripped this from vinyl to cd!!!! Good lookin out on the video

  • This is definitely one of their best songs. Don't really care for this vid, though. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and what the HECK is that on top of Denise's head?! That aside, FIVE STAR (especially Denise) is simply the BEST!!! Sho'nuf.

  • I love, love, love Five Star! Thank you for posting this. ~ Cristina

  • I had a fat crush on the lead singer. Great video and song, thanks!

  • wow...her vocals are really good..underrated
