I saw Delroy one time in his Lamboghini (white) I shouted How you doing and gave him a thumbs up. He responded by giving me a thumbs up and saying I'm great thanks out the window before driving off (must have exceded the speed limit, but he was young) If I remember right it was near Chessington zoo as it was then I think. Did they live there abouts I wonder ?
I miss these guys so much and the dreaded cassettes I had of them have long come off their spools lol
@britanichris Which one is delroy? I'm confused. And is it too much to want them to look exactly like they did then as they do now?! I miss that look of theirs!
listen they lived in sunning hill near ascot berkshire spent £££ on a house spent £££££££on recording equipment the rest is history they went skint and faded away but i still think they were good.....
ok...ummmm....Im 41 now and I was in my early teens when this group came out...I loved this song...my fav from this group....fanx heaps for sharing...aint nothin like the 80's...everything was dammn big!!...lol...
5 Star were a such under-rated group. They were massive at their peak in the U.K. but sadly the peak was short-lived. I think that the comparison to the Jacksons did them no good - such pressure for a young group to live up to. Whatever the case may be, they released some fantastic songs that we will all enjoy for many years.
love this song reminds me of when I met my hubby ..brill times pity he cant remember them... he cant remember what he did last week... anyway this song is better than todays crappy music. x
They used to go to a school less than a mile away from mine. They drove past our school one evening, we all cheered and shouted Hey Five Star! They just looked down thier nose at us.
Yes they were great for the time. Shame not still working. Remember playing their music after long shifts in a hotel. These and Queen, Eurythmics, Human League etc. Think its the good ones that are remembered
Thank you for posting this song, I have listened to this song since my teens but never saw the video clip, unbelievable lol. Until last week lol. Brings back memories of the good ol days....lol
Thanks to the person that posted 5 Star! I play videos for my 5 year old and she is excited and wanted to hear them on the radio. I broke it to her that this was from the 80's. It brought back so many memories. Like first love, some I didn't want to remember but knowing what I know now, its COOL! I have shared the videos with my first LOVE,I am, we are 750 miles away, we are still great friends. Smooches to 5 Star and gillianclayton! Music makes stuff happen all over this crazy and cruel world.
I loved this group in the 80's when I was young & thought they were an American group Whoops my Bad!I still love them, and I'm so happy to be reunited with them again. Thanks to the peeps who have posted all of the 5 star vids.
I think generally when I was in my teens in 80's they were good. Different music style, and very good video qualities for the time. Best of all cannot forget the shoulder pads!!! Remember this was the Dynasty and Colbys era lol x
After doing some research, I found that Gladys's version is in the movie, "Ghost Dad" with Bill Cosby. It's on the soundtrack. I can't find it on CD anywhere! Does anyone know where I can find Gladys's version (and this one too) on CD?
This is a great song, don't know why it didn't crossover from a UK hit to RB in the States. Five Star were major hitmakers in the UK and I appreciate all these great videos that are uploaded on them. They really made top quality videos. Plastic Surgery and Video cost must be why they went bankrupt.
They may have recieved advanced money from the record company and just spent, spent and spent. That in home studio did not help them so sad but I still like 5 star
This song seems like part of a film, it's smooth, sensual, brilliant, as for the amazing dance, its the best ive seen pure elegance, its better than the jackson, sorry but it is, it has grace, charm, and so much people need today, to chill out dam it.
In US it was clearly underrated. I thought this was going to chart for sure. Yeah a couple of Urban stations did add this song back in 1987. But I guess that it was a little too poppy for Urban, and then probably to Urban for Pop radio, if that makes any sense, really.
Denise, developed her own unique style, as did the group. Ok jackson was an inspiration, but not completely, something was totally Five star, I could like them all over again, I do, and Romford Uk, Yea Ha, I know the word elegant is not used today, except for fashion types, but I use it for them boys and girls.
Ahhh, I missed this song at the time, really pissed, off, that toad , who made the comment on tv, I think scared off five star. Look at the style of this video, the style of denise, the attitude its so sexy, cheeky.
I am very glad to see Five stars new work on line and to know what they are doing,
My last point is, that Five star also began to form a gothic Rock look and sound I liked that, see 'Stay out of my life, I have never seem such a stunning group of people on TV
And Finally, See 'Strong as stele' WOW , WOW, WOW.
Maybe I dont watch enough videos, so please correct me if am wrong. THEY ARE THE BEST DANCE GROUP FROM THE 8OS. To be honest they make alot of dancers now look like BLAH! Thank you for posting this group. Am gonna hunt down their greatest hits.
i think it was about Denise falling in love with an old car and wanted to get it fixed up and trade her red car in for it (personally though i'd have stuck with the red one lol)
No, funkrafied. This video was made as a metaphor. The car, of course was the object of her love. But, if you notice, she really wanted that love to work no matter what and she did whatever she could to fix it and would not take no for an answer. A lot of us just give up on the objects of our love to easily. Even if it can be fixed.
this brings me back to high school, i loved this song, they should do like a best of five star or something, because when i hear this it reminds me of neon clothing, scrunchy socks, pastel lipstick and waaaayyy too much sun in spray on our hair, lol, 80's big and brassy!!! love it!!!
Tina's version does not sound a million times better it sounds a million times worse. She needs to stop doing remakes and write her own original material you need to post that crap on her own comment board
This is definitely one of their best songs. Don't really care for this vid, though. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever and what the HECK is that on top of Denise's head?! That aside, FIVE STAR (especially Denise) is simply the BEST!!! Sho'nuf.
Nice song!
