Our 19 year old son died in a car accident last month. He had a heart of gold and loved and cared for people with that amazing heart. He had a disability that made it difficult for him to learn many things but he overcame it and taught himself to play guitar in a way that was truly amazing. He played with soul and it was reflected in the beauty of his music. We had this song sang and played on guitar at his funeral. His chains are gone and he in no longer encumbered with the disability.

Our son had a condition in his hands that made it difficult to do things like write with a pencil, slice an onion or even make a sandwhich, yet he picked up a guitar and within a few weeks could play it like someone who had played for years. I believe it was God's gift to him to show him and us that people are not defined by what the world considers a disability. Our son shouldn't have been able to play at all, much less as well as he did. I just finally accepted it as a gift.

How amazing is the Lord?!? We never realize what we are missing when his hand is gone for juse a bit and then when we come back to him you feel his love like u could never imagine. The Lord is amazing and so is his Love. He will love you and never forsake you. He died for those of us who have sineed. Sin is sin, weither big or small. He is our deliverer. How amazing the chains of bondage are jus takin away. Praise the Lord!

No matter how this is sung or played, it touches the heart. Few songs in our history have done this. The composer was truely blessed, for he saw the degree of depravity than mankind can stoop to and rose above it.

This song is so awesome it tells about pratically my whole life i hated God growing up cause I was and is different then alot of other kids and never fit in. I was lost but was found when a really nice guy told me about Jesus Christ and his love. I was blind but now I see for God sent me a friend who showed me him. My chains are gone i've been sent free from my sins and evil from the one and only God who loves me, died for me and cares for me more then anyone else. I Love You God!!!

But I just began to take in the words...twelve years later.

I love this song soooooooo much!!! i have never known love in my walk with God until a few weeks back, i tell everyone i was a dead christian and now i am alive!!! we are free because of Jesus' blood. we no longer are chained to our pasts, it is washed away by the blood of Jesus Christ!!!! also the song indescribable by hIM is amazing, cuz i cant put into words how God loves, but He does. Chris breaths new life , no pun intended, to this much beloved hynm. He added the last verse which was in the original song when he researched and found this "missing" verse we haven't heard before. What an awesome God that He saved this verse for this time when we need it most. Thank you Lord and thank you Chris. Also I highly reccommend this movie if you haven't seen it.

Our 19 year old son died in a car accident last month. He had a heart of gold and loved and cared for people with that amazing heart. He had a disability that made it difficult for him to learn many things but he overcame it and taught himself to play guitar in a way that was truly amazing. He played with soul and it was reflected in the beauty of his music. We had this song sang and played on guitar at his funeral. His chains are gone and he in no longer encumbered with the disability.

I too lost both of my son's ,my older son was 25 and my youngest 15 in less then 1 yr, to cancer. Both were born also with disabilities and both sang and played at church . I know what you are going thru and I can say that the only strength my husband and I get is from my heavenly father.

My prayers are with you. I too lost my son at age 18 in 2000. Hold tight to the Lord each and every day. He will strengthen you beyond what you could ever imagine. It's baby steps. His love sustained me through many dark days, but PRAISE GOD for HIS peace and comfort...HE restored my joy and gave a Praise from my mouth that I can't explain. Hang tight to HIM. HE alone will get you through this, and your full happiness will return. I promise!

Oh, Honey, I ask the Lord to comfort your family. To give you strength and grace. Our family lost a dear niece in June, she was only 34--someone took her life. It is very difficult.

Praise Jesus! I am disabled myself, and struggle with mild CP, I can only imagine what it'll be like to be free of my "chains" once I reach the Lord's feet. I'm so glad your son knows this freedom now.

Our son had a condition in his hands that made it difficult to do things like write with a pencil, slice an onion or even make a sandwhich, yet he picked up a guitar and within a few weeks could play it like someone who had played for years. I believe it was God's gift to him to show him and us that people are not defined by what the world considers a disability. Our son shouldn't have been able to play at all, much less as well as he did. I just finally accepted it as a gift.

Thank you, one of the things I have learned from this is that love truly never fails. The body can be broken beyond repair but the love that is shared between a mother and her child, can never be broken. Great love is stronger than death.
