Hinduism and every other religion on the planet has been corrupted by humans. Caste has never been stated in Hinduism as being hereditary. People add their own rules and falsely claim that Hinduism postulates these rules. This is exactly the same way that right wing Christians justify lynching blacks. It is certainly laudable that this sort of thing does not happen in the US any more. It is unfortunate that this sort of thing goes on in India today. In the end, it is about people.

I have never been to India, so I am relying on the words of Runoko Rashidi, whom I've seen speak several times in Los Angeles California, and I've read his book, The African Influence in Early Asia. He, who has gone to India several times, and visited with the so-called "Dalits" calls Italy the most racist country in the world, and he was warned NOT TO COME BACK after attempting to organize the Dalits in hopes of rising up against their social constraints. However, I don't want this avenue to lead to the conclusion that Dalits somehow were magically socially acceptable because of some lofty ambitions of a few of their representatives. On Dalit representation in government, education and parliament, let me draw an analogy to the American context post-slavery (i.e., 1870). American blacks were more represented in congress and legislatures than they are now in 2010, yet this arrangement was FORCED upon an unwitting and socially intolerant South, which, when the federal troops went away, violently took out it's revenge. (e.g., lynchings, etc...) Hence, the fact that Dalits, as you claim, are represented is moot.

Because if you have, with a neutral perspective, it is not hard to see how there are several Racist phrases in the Rg Veda that describe the "slaying" or "defeating" of "Dasyus", Dasyus = the Black skinned people that lived in the region into which the Vedic Aryans immigrated. RgV.VIII.87.6, RgV. II.20.6 , Rg.V. I.100.18 to point a few examples. I have read these in Sanskrit, so I know what I'm talking about. And I'm a Hindu Brahmin.

The whole idea is that people actually believe things that aren't true, but they do believe them, just as you may believe that Indians are being targeted by race by white people, and not that they already had these views and attacked first, believing themselves already vindicated.
