@RaiptYou Most optometrists say to wear a new pair of contacts every month. Depends on the brand of contacts though. (there is a certain brand that you only wear for one day and put new ones in every morning) I usually wear mine for about 2 months. But I take them out every night. I do nottt sleep in them regularly. Doesn't bother me. It also depends on the sensitivity of your eye.

Soft contacts are so lame nowadays! I started wearing them in '82 and back then they were much thicker and lasted a yr and a half before they became uncomfortable with deposits. They still maintained their shape. You really got your $ worth, esp. if you made your own saline solution w/ distilled water and tablets.

I worked for a major lens manufacturer back in the 80's. That was how we did it at that time. I helped develop a process where we molded the lenses, eliminating all of the turning and polishing. Polycarbonate molds were injection molded and used to cast the lens material in a one step process. $4.25 per lens reduced to pennies per lens with molding process. Enabled labor to be drastically reduced by using robotics.

This is NOT representative of your typical Acuvue, CIBA, B&L manufacturing process. This video involves way more steps and care than standard mass-produced lenses.

For instance your optometrist can buy a pack of 90 dailies at 35USD, so 40 cents per lens. Distribute that 40 through a big markup (to cover the expenses of providing free trial lenses and more) and R&D (or in J&J's case paying CIBA for R&D patents lol) and you have lenses that are as cheap as they look.

as long as you can take care your contact lens and you always clean your hand and use only contact lens solution on all your contact lens and its case, contact lenses are better. cz you have a wider view range without tilting your head whatsoever. :))

Perhaps another reason I came disillusioned with contacts it the cost of the cleaning materials. Seemed like pure rip off-you'd need to be earning a fortune or take out a second morgage just to keep up with the cost of the cleaning stuff!!!!

NOt really I mean I bought 2 big things of solution about 2 to 3 months ago for 4 bucks and Im still not done with the first bottle of solution. Just dont buy the name brand stuff because that IS a rip off. Just buy store brand value packs and you get more solution for less money.

yes, they're called non-prescription lenses, so even if u have 20/20 vision, u can wear colored contacts, but u still have to go to the eye doctor to get ur eye fitted for the contacts, so u get the right kind, (everyone's eyes have different curves) and they will also give u a free trial pair of contacts, and wal-mart is the best and cheapest place to go. it costs between 81-91 dollars. its very simple. hope i helped!

yes. you can go blind since contacts restrict air to your cornea. it depends on what kind of contact you're wearing, though.

It depends. When I order 6 months worth of lenses, they arrive in like 3 or 4 days maximum. It depends on the type, where your optometrist orders them from, etc.
