I don't think that it is a cheeky reference to Charles Manson per se, but you may be on to something. I've been straining my memory to recall just what movie that this guy's presence in the Massive Attack video may allude to.

The guy kind of reminds me of the Bigfoot / Sasquatch as shown in the 1970's TV series "The Six Million Dollar Man".

Hmmm ... it has been many years since I saw Lynch's Mulholland Dr. in the theater (2001?), and to be quite honest, I've forgotten the majority of the movie.

I can't remember the "Jamaican Bum" that you are referring to. Do you remember which actor played the character?

Also, the M.A. video for Karmacoma is a combo of several different films / television series / etc., all of them having a head-trip inducing plot or theme.

Overall, a good video.

Thanks for your reply / comment on this video. I tried to locate the character you mentioned as the "Jamacian Bum" via the IMDB entry for "Mulholland Drive", but to no avail.

Either way, it is a mindfunk of a video, and I think that part of its appeal to the viewer lies in trying to figure out just what movie characters are being referenced in it as well as just what the heck the whole plot of the video is about.
