I just bought my Fz1 back in December of 2011...The bike is just completely awesome! Plenty of power and it maneuvers like a dream. I don't think I will ever have another bike unless I end up buying another FZ1. Ok...I might buy an R1 but that's a close relative anyway
Past my test 1st time in August 2011(helped loads by your vids). Found my feet on a 2001 Kawasaki ZR-7s (ZR750) which was the perfect first big bike for me.
Just got a 2002 FZS1000 yesterday, partly based on this video and I honestly can't see why I'll need another bike again. Power, lightness and comfort in spades, REALLY pleased with it.
@sirobb Congratulations on the Fazer. Three of my instructors now have them (one is my old one) and they all love them! Try a track day too, it'll help you get to know it and you can go at your own pace.
Am enjoying watching all your videos. I am just about to purchase a 2001 Fazer 1000 and this video helped to confirm my choice. As a car driving instructor since 1979, I'm looking forward to retirement (not long now, I hope), when I reckon I'll begin to enjoy biking more - too many hours spent on the road tend to blunt the enthusiasm for getting out there. Roll on Spring, and thanks for the effort in making these videos.
@Howard793 Thanks for your feedback. You'll love the Fazer. Also, on a recent track day, my friend, who has a 2010 Triumph 1050 Speed Triple couldn't keep with my instructor's Fazer 1000 on the straights showing how competitive these bikes still are after all these years. Let me know how you get on with it. :-)
@Howard793 You'll love the Fazer, right choice. I know what you mean by blunting the enthusiasm, that's why I bought the Fazer, then the Tuono. Glad I could help. :-)
@RoadcraftNottingham Well. you were right, I do love it. We finally had a break in the awful weather up here today (you don't think I'm going to get it dirty, do you?), so took it for a spin. I was very rusty at first, kept forgetting which gear I was in. But then it all clicked and despite the cold it was all great fun!!
@needbettername7 Google either Accumen gear change indicator or Datatool gear change indicator. To save trouble wiring it up, also ask for the wiring harness, it's a bit extra but so much less hassle.
Super video and nice ccomment. haha, the way you talk about the bike! Its sounds like my feelings about my own Fazer 1000. Fuck the speedlimits, just enjoying the power, the handling, the brakes and the super sound from my Laser Hotcam Exhaust. I think I'll be riding it for some years to come. Keep enjoying yours.
@dudefromlondon Long distance is ok but the fairing is quite small and gives a bit of buffeting. It will do over 150 but this bike isn't about speed, it's more about fun and feel and it gives both in abundance.
Ive had loads of bikes of all makes and sizes and can honestly say the early model Fazer is by far the most competent all round big road road bike ive ever owned (bar none.) Ride safe life is not a rehersal
you say in your vid that you cant ride the GS at a slow pace ??? you need to take it to thae garage mate and get it sorted ,YES the GS isnt as smooth as the fazer but there must be something wrong with the bike if you cant ride it slow with out coasting, comparing a GS and a fazer is like ............. well put it this way two totally different bikes ment for different things !
@bbbvito I wanted the GS to replace both my Fazer and my instructing bike, a ST1100.Comparisons-Both are tall comfy tourers and both bikes are FANTASTIC out in the sticks so I personally think it'd be a fair comparison even though the GS is relaxed and the Fazer buzzy.Tried headers, boosterplug, valve adjust and injection remap on BM and Pidcocks mechanic said thats how GS's are.So conclusion, fuel injection bikes (vfr800,st1300 I've both owned) aren't as good as carbs. Thanks for your input.
I too have a Fazer 1000 (and from Nottingham) and likewise I love it. Had it about 5 years and have nodesire to sell it. I've upgraded the rear shock to an Ohlins and K Tech have modded the forks. It has made a superb bike even better. Oh the carbs have been modded too...it is awesome. Can't see me selling it. I've never ridden a GS or any other BMW twin (did once have a go on an F650 single once), so I can't possibly comment on how they compare.
@AndyR600 It would be interesting to know what you've done with your carbs and how it's helped Andy. If you're from Nottingham, please bear us in mind at Beechdale motorcycles if you need any servicing or mots. Thanks for your input.
I came across your video cause you taged it GS, I don't see your point, so you don't like the GS? and? I'm not being funny mate but I don't think you like riding anymore, maybe because you do it for a living. So you like in-line fours, OK thanks for sharing. Ride safe
@josephguvnor I still like riding, my pan11, fazer1000, my old cbr600, my girls sv 650(twin) and more recently, the BMW k1200s which I adored (video to be uploaded today). You're my first ever dislike so thanks for the thumbs down. My point is because of my vast experience and lack of BMW blinkers I could see it was an under engineered, antiquated pile of metal which at this price shouldn't have to have people on forums trying to sort out bmws problems. Thanks for respecting my opinion (I think)
@RoadcraftNottingham I did respect your opinion but calling the GS "PILE OF METAL" or " UDER ENGINEERED", well, what do you say to that? I've had bikes since 1979 and I do 35k miles a year and I don't think you should compare these two bike that's all, did not mean any offence. Ride safe
opinion is what makes the world go round, that's why it's my opinion on my site and nobody has to watch it, why not compare? I'm up to 73 subscribers now which is excellent and even someone like penguinrobby who doesn't agree with me, put his opinion across in an adult manner and got a matching reply. I personally don't think people should let passengers ride with just tracksuit tops on but as you know it happens and that's their freedom of choice to do so. Feel free to subscribe ;-)
@ddazzler64 ..made me smile watching it back too actually. You've got to be so careful to cover your back in case some geek jumps in with some comment quoting page number and paragraph. lol
I do understand what you mean about the Fazer but I wouldn't swap my GS for it now. It does everything I want especially 2up, my wife found the Fazer very uncomfortable.
Each to their own I guess!! Good luck with the sale I doubt it will be around for long, they sell like hot cakes !
@The33JAYJAY ..Thanks for your support and kind words dude. I've heard it said the FZ1 wasn't as good a bike as the original Fazer 1000 but I haven't actually ridden one. I'm fortunate on the passenger front as Linz has a Suzuki SV650 of her own so I suppose passengers wern't a consideration. The BMW is in the showroom all shiny and ready for someone who will appreciate it. :-)

Enjoyed the vids and the comparision, and the issues too. Just wondered if a PowerCommander might have done the job?
I notice you did try a fuel injection remap...maybe, just maybe, there might have been a better map available than the one(s) you were using? QED
Thanks for sharing!
