Being Kenyan, this clip annoyed the hell out of me. Not the idea, but the reporting. Though i shouldn't expect so much from American media, they're coverage of African situation is always weak, its still gets to me. Truth is, this are isolated scenarios only experienced in a minority of African countries. Most African states have a sufficient electrical grid. Their constant use of "Africans" in such a general manner does more harm than good. Just like a Swedish crisis is not necessarily European
interesting that they don't just give the africans solar panels and inverters so they don't need to buy the crappy generators, it would seem the obvious option and best bang for the buck.
"The sea rises, the light fails, lovers cling to each other, and children cling to us. The moment we cease to hold each other, the moment we break faith with one another, the sea engulfs us and the light goes out." - Baldwin
....good thing we're giving them the light they need.
You've got my support, and it looks like....at least 13 other people.
that's amazing. I admire the man. It's an awesome idea that can really help. I hope one day I can folow the steps and do something similar to make a difference.

I think its an awesome idea, and an awesome concept cleaning up the enviroment and stuff. I think people should really take notice of this, because it can really make a difference in the lives of less fortunate people. good-luck, with this thing. i hope you can really make a difference
Great idea! I think what you are doing is wonderful, bringing light to people who need it most. Nice work keep it up, im all for Bogolight!
We need more people like you to come up with stuff that can help not only those who really need it, but can also be used in other ways to exel in futuristic materials and ideas usable by the next generations.
Really awesome! 'Spreading the light...' That's what we need! Finally people who care and actually do something about Africa... Congratulations mate! You're awesome!
For a men to spent so much time and research to give one continent a revolution in economic energy and a chance to develop and create a program based on those ideas... i kneel down to that man

He shouldn't have given the option for US troops because Americans will probably choose them over charities in Africa.

at least now they can steal oil in the dark, like i give a fuck, these rich fucks in the u.s. are the thieves, the african are just trying to survive
promethazineplz 11 months ago
Great, now these thieves can see better whiles they steal oil from pipelines!
Also, "why isn't anyone doing this"? It's because they already have generator flashlights that don't need sunlight to charge their batteries.

Target now sells a 2 mode solar/crank powered rechargeable LED light that has an LCD panel to display charge status. For only $20.

Nice flashlight. However what caught my attention more was the fact that Africans were stealing oil from the pipelines.
This short article talks about the theft:

We're taking 65 of these to Haiti this coming week.
The first picture in this video is not in Africa though, it's Haiti and the tall man with the grey beard is Fr. Bruno.

This video/newscast is excellent! Not only does it highlight a need being met, Mark gives God the credit for the vision to meet that need.
