@tenesperanza1 I remember the pink flamingos and the amazing acrobats. I loved that place. I took it very hard when the place finally closed. I hope they bulldoze it soon though so that skateboarders do not continue to disrespect it.
@WingsofMemories I dont understand WHY Floridas polices or patrol do nothing to stop that skateborders vandalism, that is so sad, but maybe in the future could be a better place like a shelter for those skateborders, just a joke
The park was opened in 93' and sat on 76 acres. In 2002 , president , Sunny Yang attempted a negotiation to sell the park but was recalled to China & placed under arrest for financial mismanagement of the park. By 2002 the park was already equivalent to a ghost town. On December 30th , 2003 the park discontinued operations and shut down. The Splendid China company eventually ceased attempts to regain operations and held the park up for auction on December 9th , 2004.
I lived in Orlando when the first opened Splendid China, and it was a great place to go. Over the years they slowly lost business, but I don't know why. When they finally closed it was a dump, with a lousy buffet. The handcrafted wall of China and miniature structures were awesome. At one time their live entertainment was great, with beautiful Chinese dancing girls and kung-fu demonstrations. What a shame the place just got too bad to attract tourists.
i skate in there alot and my friend got caught and just got a tresspassing warrart. the place is huge. if a cop comes you basically just duck and they wont find you.
its so fun to be there though i love that place so much
Park has been closed forever due to political reasons in 2003. Some of the exhabits were sold in an auction in 2005. How it looks today? Search in YouTube for "splendid china" and you will find a video by user "nathanexplosion666". I've heard a while ago that they will remove the rest of the park for a new urbanisation. Don't know if it is true - I'm to far away from Florida (Germany!)
I want to get into this park so badly but I'm paranoid about how long I would spend with the police if caught. I used to love this place, and I went there for my birthday in 02.
my family and I went 2 weekd b4 it closed it was a little run down then but still a fantastic thing to see so glad we did it, why was it not saved?

Sad to lose such a unique attraction. Recent news stories claim the park has been taken over by skate boarders and arsonists. What a waste.

I miss that place so much.
All of my friends go there now to skateboard.
They have taken some pretty amazing pictures.
I think it's cool to a an old park that has a lot of history behind it.

@zacke123 Latest news is that it's been torn down recently. They're building Legoland where Splendid China used to be.
