  • I'm not understanding why they only played part of the speech. They cut the video off before the President was through speaking.

  • wonder why this douchebag president didnt meet with our esteemed douchebag mayor?---maybe obama has a brain cell after all!!

  • thanks for the 2 hour pep talk,,,,and then back on air force one.....fucking idiot.

  • New orleans was destroyed like many cities by black mayors, police chief and city council. These fools have ruined this once great city.

  • The inhabitants share no responsibility?

Look at the Tax base of New Orleans.

  • There is an old expression in New Orleans. "If we knew then what we know now, we would have picked our own cotton.". These wonderful black people are different than a typical white person. They can not become engineers and build bridges, or what not. They don't even have white language skills. What to do with them? Let them starve to death, as you have said before? Make them slaves again? Do you know what its like to pick cotton with your hands? Understand? Nazi? They have soul. Do you? U R BS.

  • And to whom do you blame for them '..not being able to become engineers...' Last I checked every child in America is provided an education. The difference is what you make of it. Mississippi was worse off from Katrina than New Orleans. Mississippi has rebuilt. I never said make anybody a slave. I have never expected anyone to do for me what I could do for myself. I have never blamed my failures on anyone but myself. Pick cotton? who is BSing who?

  • Ya know, and this is the last time I am going to talk to you unless you level your head. I am white of German decent. I live in N.O. 46 years now. If you want to discuss and learn, that's fine, I will talk to you. If all that is on your mind is greed and hate, then no, I will not talk to you. I have to help bury a beautiful black brother this week, and tell you what, that man has more wisdom in hi little finger than you or I both put together have in our whole body's. YOU have an "opportunity".

  • The people can't get the money because of all the red tape. Habitat for Humanity has done more for those people than the Federal Government.

  • The theory of ballon boy taking over the live coverage of the pres's speach ( felt like I was at a lively church service) and ever since....... remember boy says God is love.

  • Hurricane Katrina revealed the necessary result of anti-statist neoliberal policies pursued to their natural conclusions.

The government has no power to focus and confront looming ecological dangers and social disorders because radical individualism is threatened by the basic philosophical underpinnings of taxation, which is a fundamental demand of pure-and-simple collectivism.

  • Taxation at its excess is collectivism, Socialism is the result of over indulged individualism. The fight between light and dark, good and evil, irresponsible and responsible is an eternal expression of energy. Thermal Dynamikcs. Liberals are disorder. Then there the realists. Simply put...if you do not work you do not eat

  • Taxation, whether due or in excess is collectivism. Tax-funded police, fire departments, public education, the common defense are all collectivism. You do not have the individual responsibility to build your own roads. It's collectivism.

If people cannot eat, then they can use force to extract their needs when the resources are not shared. It's the essence of democracy. The power of the majority can force a recalcitrant minority to yield advantages.

  • You do realize that you see everything as past tense.Responsibility is not granted it is nurtured, taught and learned. I see your point on collectivism, however, when it is structured as a Republic, the minimal percentage required from each for the common good of all is cooperation.

  • Whatchoo talking about,Willis? I'm writing in the present tense and the subjunctive.

Responsibility is an illusion. How responsible is the ghetto child born to misery for her disadvantages? How much credit should the silver spooner get for being born into privilege? Neither are responsible, worthy or blameworthy.

And: Sometimes something much greater than the minimum is called for. At the minimum we can let New Orleans erode away into the Gulf of Mexico. Should we?

  • It would help your sense of time to learn whom you are. The ghetto child is a direct responsibility of the generations before, that capitulated their oppurtunities. The "Silver Spooner"(you grew up in front of a television set....willis...silver spoon..) will indeed get credit for being the progeny of generations that fulfilled oppurtunity. America is the Nation where both are capable of changing their fortunes. Backfill New Orleans, auction the acerage to highest bidder

  • That's a nice Can't Do attitude. You lose.

If your philosophy had reigned during World War II, we never would have won. We never would have emerged from the war richer than when we entered, and we never would have become the mightiest empire in history.

That's all thanks to statism. It shows what we can do when collectivism is focused on important goals and domestic dissent is quashed by broad public consensus

The big quash is coming back. Go Sarah Palin! We'll laugh her out of history.

  • Seriously, i think you need an electrician. I can tell you what to tell him to look for. Somehow someone opened up your head and crossed the wires. To you right is left and left is right. Forward backward and backward...well you probably do not understand and I donot know how to write backwards. I'll try..lacigollI

  • Now you've just run out of argument. Your insults help me more than you intend.

  • Its funny how the U.S. is willing to give Pakistan billions of dollars in Aid. But can't give money in aid to the very people in New Orleans that need it the most. The double edge sword in which Barack Obama tries to justify Imperialism. Another increase in troops in Afghanistan and the increased military presence in Guam and Colombia. Imperialism is still alive and well even with a black president at the helm.

  • How much more of my money will you dump in New Orleans? Place is a money pit. Bury it

  • New Orleans has been around for hundreds of years. A big part of what makes you, you, what makes all of us what we are, has to do with New Orleans and the gulf coast region. It is good for mankind to hold onto its roots for as long as possible.

  • First, the area "New Orleans" has come and gone at the will of the Mississippi and the Delta. I advocate filling in the economic hole that has become New Orleans. This venture would create untold new wealth, and eliminate( more likely disperse) the drain on the U.S.taxpayer funded welfare system. Metaphorically it has been being eliminated for years. The justice Dept. had to take control of the Law Enforcement,...Then there is Nagy

  • Jerb. You speak quite a bit about money You think you know what something is worth, I was just pointing out to you what something is, that you seem not to take into consideration. That being N.O. heritage. Your heritage. Actually, heritage that is a gift to the whole world. I see you like music. Do you know there would be no Jimi Hendrix if not for New Orleans. How much is this gift worth to humanity in dollars and cents? Look for a utuber channel named BMZSOUL2 and Look at his cultural videos.

  • Amen to beike623. kidbleu can muddle the details re MS and LA but the facts are that yes, indeed, Katrina hit New Orleans. There are several movies including footage from the 9th Ward, etc. showing something that looks every bit like a hurricane to all and sundry and first was Katrina then Rita. Many places were destroyed but NO was the most prominent that everyone saw.

Cynical supporters of the racist right-wing were guilty of depraved indifference then and they're guilty of it now.

  • Isn't that Obama's home town. Ya the Government made that hurricane go right over New Orleans - weird.

  • kidbleau, arguing over semantics helps no one. The fact is that millions of people in New Orleans were hurt by the flooding caused by hurricane Katrina. If there was no storm there would have been no rain and the flooding would have never happened. What Obama did today was honorable. He came to encourage people who have been through so much suffering. Stop letting blind hate cloud your judgment and have a little compassion and understanding for your fellow man.

  • Hey look they cut out the

OBAMA "I wish I could just write you a check"

AUDIENCE: "Why don't you just do that?"

OBAMA "things like constitution and congress prevents me."

Go figure, Media doesn't want you to see obama saying he wants to give out free money but shit like the constitution prevents him from doing it publicly

  • Ahem, Katrina did not hit New Orleans. Katrina hit Mississippi. The Corps of Engineers hit New Orleans 8/29/05. Obama still thinks Katrina flooded New Orleans. He should know better.

Obama did not deliver today. He tried to pull it over our eyes again. Sorry.

Daily Comet should have called Obama on this False Statement and reference constantly to The Storm when it is the Flood.

He totally scammed the audience with people planted to cheer at the right times. They even tried to start "Yes we Can"

  • Amen! God Bless New Orleans, LOUISIANA ! America loves you & thank you President Obama for visitingg! [:

  • Bury New Orleans like a cat burying shit. You Love the Chicago Con Man so much make him mayor, fire Nagy. Do the world a favor
