The Old Guard is the only unit in the US Army that has an Act of Congress specifically providing it with orders to march with fixed bayonets and it is the sole remaining regular combat field unit to issue the standard M14 rifle to the ranks.

I could go down to the recruitment office right now sign the paper go to boot and be in Afghanistan fighting natives who want me the fuck out and fighting foreign militants in about 4-6 weeks. But the Military isn't for everyone. But you have to understand there is some corruption in the military.
I do plan to join, go navy for 3 years, go to college for 4 years for ROTC, come back as a Surface Warfare Officer, and do as many years (17 min. after graduation).

true a lot of the movements are quite easy but the difficult part is getting everyone to do it at the same time. It would look horrible to have everybody doing insane movements and off cadence. That would defy the point of a drill team.....unity!!
NOT TO BE RUDE.. but the point is that they are good at what they do, not many people can get out there and do those advanced moves, i am on an navy drill team and its not nearly as easy as it may look.. but really it is for show but its more.. i started just as something to do in my spare time.. but i love doing it, because im good at what i do.. and i stand by that 100%.. they love doing that.. if i had to guess id say they do it because its fun and always a challenge.. :D
well back in the day(american british war) they used to fight by marching in line's and the best marching and more together group won. now adays military marching and drill is how they report and move as one,it shows unity and organizion.so on the battle field now aday we learn to come together as one and fight better by what marching teaches us,we not good unless we do it as a whole.hope i could shine a light on the subject. joe :-)

the marine drill team displays the highest level of precision, timing, and most of all discipline! in dis army drill here, u cud see da flaws and sumwhat slow timing in da movements. and they kinda break the unison. and i meant 2 say dat the marine drill team wud "surpass" them if they were 2 perform dis routine.

If you notice only on some of the tosses do they look up, it's usally only if they're coming up. both branches have silent drill teams and both are cool as hell why do we have to compare them and say one i better than the other, they usally don't even do the same "moves"
canadians don't do rifle drill as intense as that. our main drill is in the turns and advansed stuff. we come to atention by lifting our feet and stomping them not sliding

If so then you have a right to talk, but since I know for a fact that you have not, in fatc you're most likely not on the USMC drill team, you really shut your mouth and get back in the front leaning rest position you fucken private.
kobagg you must know nothing about this stuff, if you look up usmc drill silent drill team you will find that they are more precise with their movements. plus the marine corps is more disciplined. plus the usmc drill team has better rifle inspections and more members

true a lot of the movements are quite easy but the difficult part is getting everyone to do it at the same time. It would look horrible to have everybody doing insane movements and off cadence. That would defy the point of a drill team.....unity!!

NOT TO BE RUDE.. but the point is that they are good at what they do, not many people can get out there and do those advanced moves, i am on an navy drill team and its not nearly as easy as it may look.. but really it is for show but its more.. i started just as something to do in my spare time.. but i love doing it, because im good at what i do.. and i stand by that 100%.. they love doing that.. if i had to guess id say they do it because its fun and always a challenge.. :D

well back in the day(american british war) they used to fight by marching in line's and the best marching and more together group won. now adays military marching and drill is how they report and move as one,it shows unity and organizion.so on the battle field now aday we learn to come together as one and fight better by what marching teaches us,we not good unless we do it as a whole.hope i could shine a light on the subject. joe :-)

the marine drill team displays the highest level of precision, timing, and most of all discipline! in dis army drill here, u cud see da flaws and sumwhat slow timing in da movements. and they kinda break the unison. and i meant 2 say dat the marine drill team wud "surpass" them if they were 2 perform dis routine.

the corps' original mission was to be pirate protectors, and to be sharpshooters. The Marine Corps was never unestablished like many people think. The modern military became the Army, and the Marine Corps, then the Navy (Lazy) in 1785. Either way, we all fight for what we believe in so chill.

The Army drill manual much harder to execute than the same 5 moves the Marines do for 15 minutes. Front to rear over the head toss is by far the most dangerous move by any Drill Team.

@AGGIELANDFAN the Army is known for being confined in far off lands with all the comforts of home. That's why you see Morbidly obese soldiers in the Army. I've seen only a handful of fat bodies in the corps. The Army is full of the fuck ups. They can't even get PT right.

If you notice only on some of the tosses do they look up, it's usally only if they're coming up. both branches have silent drill teams and both are cool as hell why do we have to compare them and say one i better than the other, they usally don't even do the same "moves"

if you watch a army drill then a marine drill team you can see the big difference. a marine drill team is a lot more precise the army focuses in throws, because it more flashy but when they catch the rifle it kills the precession if you don't believe me just look it up its just facts

listen "little" young marine, you're a private in the USMC try not to let your head get too big. Have you served in the Army or been on the drill team? Have you served on the USMC drill team? If so then you have a right to talk, but since I know for a fact that you have not, in fatc you're most likely not on the USMC drill team, you really shut your mouth and get back in the front leaning rest position you fucken private.

Only the US Navy and Marine Corps use lighter-weight rifles, basically hollowed out.
The Army Drill team uses authentic, non-modified 10 pound springfield 1903's.
