Junior is a precise bluesman ,he never noodles cause he can't or he knows better and that's a good thing some guys try to noodle too much and it sounds like a mess like some players i know lol me and junior would always talk bout this kinda thing lol miss you june bug i love u r.ip miss talking and playing with you and clowning
Man Buddy Guy is the shit, playing that beautiful Guild semi...I met Buddy and Jr Wells after a gig at the Bottom Line, had a couple of drinks with them in about 1976, 2 very nice gents
Incredible line up ! --this is just ********* , all the best you can get ! (well there are more of course , but this is just a fantastic line up and reg . ) DEgus
One hot night in June 1982 at New Jersey's Capitol Theater, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, featuring Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones) on lead guitar, John McVie (Fleetwood Mac) on bass, and Colin Allen (of Rod Stewart's band) on drums,
not the best buddy guy solo, but i've come to learn that there is no such thing as a bad version of "messin' with the kid." junior still wails on the harp.
It's great to the Junior Wells videos from the 60's - 90's. I saw Junior several times while I lived in Chicago in late-80's. He embodies the Chicago blues harp style. Awesome!
Is that Mick Taylor playing guitar behind Buddy? Just wondered, that's all! Looks like him? Buddy playing fantastic as usual! And Well's harp was great, and instantly recognisable.
This is BAD. What year is this from? The quality is so good. And yeah Buddy hits some stanky notes but he also hits some STANKY notes. And he's Buddy Guy.
Buddy always plays sour notes, but you cannot deny that he's the genuine article. Playing in his 6th decade as a true blues musician, NOBODY here even rates three words to critique anything he has ever done.
Someone just lent me recently the VHS tape of this concert , released in the mid 80's it was called 'Blues Alive' . Mick Taylor and Albert King were also really in fine form. However I read that it has been re released on DVD with the title "Jamin The Blues' with extra songs.
@glassslide i have had privilege of playing at buddy guy's legends bar in chicago, got to play harp on same stage as some of the greats, buddy is a great man and really nice guy, no pun intended
@glassslide Hey I was there too....truelly the best concert I ever saw...remember How wasted John Mcvie was? He couldnt come out for 2nd set....or when Sippie Wallace said to Mick Taylor "Play that thing White Boy"???
Is that Mick Taylor,Colin Allen, and John Mcvie . I saw them at the Espy St Kilda Australia mid 80s playing songs from Crusade and Laurel Canyon LPS Great...
one of the best live blues performances ever. 5 stars. Only because utube doesn't allow me give any more than 5. Junior, you're missed. Buddy, it's a shame you don't play like this anymore.
