  • Comment removed

  • Oh man, his band is so good...I mean, anyone noticed, how subtile the piano supports the guitars? And the sax, the bass and the drums set the perfect foundation for santana and buddy guy to play this marvellous guitar solos and dialogs.

  • wonderfool

  • :D !!!

  • Carlos knows the blues!!!!

  • Sweet Jesus that's nice.

  • Check out my blues session of Stormy Monday !!!

  • Dime tu Qien Chingados HABLA CON LA GUITARRA mas que el maestro Santana

  • Damn...this was urber tight! I'm loving it more than the return of the McRib!!! ;))

  • HOLY SHIT!! 1:08 - 1:19 they just have a conversation with the guitarrrr

  • the best

  • 2:31 ish is the realness

  • This is what keeps me playing guitar!

  • yes they do, but the saxaphone is the tie together instrument in this entire song.

  • Man, these guys wail

  • santana's like hendrix- didnt specialise in the blues, but still based his style around it- would love to see santana playing red house

  • Santana? -He's good but can't touch Jeff Beck who IMHO is the best of all time. This is not by any means near the best version of this song, even on youtube. Keep searching and listen and you will get it.

  • If you have never seen santana play blues this should put to rest his stereotype signature cause this is as good as anything else i have heard from anyone else!

  • yeah santana was great in the day but he just try to shred now, to rushed not feeling ,not blues. he does that riff in every show..i love santana but sometimes he ....oh never mind oye como va

  • Johnny Santana is such a great player, matchbox30 are my absolute favourites

  • he is god

  • Boring??? This man is so gifted - if this is boring, I guess putting your entire soul into playing the blues must be boring!

  • Santana is tooooo boring

  • @chumbirayhp stfu

  • two legends goin at it. cant get much better than this, besides when stevie played with santanna with jimmie back in 87 . god pless and r.i.p.

  • The guitar of Santana reminds me of the Dean Hardtail.. don't tell me..

  • i love addblocker xD

  • lord jesus, i think i dun reached heaven cause my soul just left my body.

or maybe i'm in hell cause that's some nasty, grimy, hot and steamy, loose your mind music.

either way it's all good by me :)

but why did it get cut off????

how you going to jerk me like that ?????

  • that is siiiick talent by carlos santana ;)

  • every year that passes I complaign I should have gone to Montreux...

  • Carlos said in an interview, "You gotta feel every note you play when you go out there." Sounds like the secret to good sound & real blues.

  • Twelve peoople will go to the blues HELL, and HE'LL listen to Justin Baby for whole eternity

  • ♥ الحرية ♥ #Liberty ☼ #Libertad ♫ #Freiheit ♥ #Tijuana ☼ #SanDieGO ♫

  • What you people dont GET is that when you bring out and spotlight a guest Star the stage is his. No one can take anything away from Buddy. All you have to do is look at his face in this. Grinning from ear to ear. This is a music at the upper echelons of professionalism. Nothing more, nothing less.

  • COOL!

  • Buddy Guy has 20x more soul... not even close.

  • I've seen them together at the Montreux Jazz Festival and it was funny how Santana sound was so powerful, nearly overwelming sompare to the Strat sound of Buddy Guy....

  • @F3FisGoodforYou That's PRS guitars for you... :)

  • Blues, blues...

  • these 2 are too much for one stage just amazing!!

  • I thought Buddy and Carlos both played great in this performance and that they complemented each other, very nice. I don't see Carlos showing off or taking the play away from anyone here.

  • santana's really pissing me off. Whenever buddy gives him something he just throws it in Buddy's face and does his own thing

  • disable the comments...fucking great blues is happening...everyone LISTEN ha ha ha ha...

  • Santana is out of his element

  • haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa fkin awsome pure blooooooooooood (I'm breaking my guitar against the wall)

  • genius but it becomes a bit too... chaotic when santana picks up the pace and starts shredding

  • they are singing with pure music!

  • this is one of the best jam sessions ever recorded. period.

  • passion incarnate; sometimes it is difficult to assimilate and often times interpreted as showing off by incapable mere mortals. But, for the more fortunately blessed with the hungry ear, we see it at face value. The master Buddy being consumed by appreciation of the artful showcasing of the student Carlito. Don't hate; assimilate!

  • Santana showboating? Huh? One of the best of alltime, should he not play his ass off? I saw him sit in w the Dead in Vegas back in 1991. Carlos sat back, grooved , and listened for over 5 min before he stepped up and started jammin. Carlos is the Man

  • O My God.... this performance blew me away

  • Two different styles, but two masters. And you can see that Mr. Guy allows Santana to develop all his mastery. I call that real generosity. The whole session an electric orgasm. WTG!

  • Buddy Guy has been called the bridge between the blues and rock and roll. He is one of the historic links between Chicago electric blues pioneers Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf and popular musicians like Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page as well as later revivalists like Stevie Ray Vaughan. Vaughan stated that, "Without Buddy Guy, there would be no Stevie Ray Vaughan."

  • it is not about blues, jazz, or whatever, all is about soul and feelings God bless them

  • very good both

  • @CaptainSpry

Either no sound cards or think that Boyzone are music !!

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely great!

  • Santana is just noise no blues at all!!!!!!!

  • Buddy Guy is the man when it comes to blues. He milks every note out like its supposed to be played. No distorted, fast, boring rock pentatonic scales. His live shows are awesome.

  • he's just nom nom nomin' on that gum while playing guitar. awesome playing!

  • These guys just love to play! Just get over it at stop being critical and listen to the groves.

  • Santana es lo máximo!! Obvio el negro no es que no sepa es solo que le da pie a este grande.

Aparte, QUÉ DIABLOS TIENEN EN LA CABEZA ESOS NUEVE COJUDOS QUE VOTARON EN CONTRA!! Siempre hay gente envidiosa y resentida en la internet!

  • PUBLICIDAD DE MIERDA.

  • Carlos is not really a blues man. Don´t get me wrong, I love both guys. But Carlos is at his best on more Latin type of music.

  • oh my.... santana and buddy guy....oh my.... love

  • Blues is all about feelings and expriences .. Carlos is letting out his "blues"...you see how buddy looked and smile in every flick... strum... of the strings... they are feeling the "blues".. In our lives.. each one us have our own "blues"

  • It's not a matter of showing off........it's a matter of feeling it, and putting every single bit of that feeling into it!!!

  • @ladybootscooter i agree with you. i've been playing guitars for 11 years now and only recently that it all comes to clarity in matter of what perceived by audience as a 'show off'. the issue is that not many people can really grasp musician's subjective state of expressing her/himself. interpreting only the external of it may get you to conclusion of 'showing off'. but inside there is no longer a musician playing music. the musician becomes the music. a human being, one with the inner nature

  • noo goose bumps..... just goose mountains!!

  • Maybe it's just me...but I prefer the Gary Moore / Albert King version of this. Gary actually manages to let Albert King play his own stuff for a lot of the song, and there's actually vocals as well. As Albert King is one of the old school blues men (along with Albert Collins (RIP) and BB King) nuff said for me!.

    Cheers..........

  • @chrisderrick57 You should her Cream's version of Stormy Monday at their reunion at Royal Albert Hall, Eric Clapton shows why he still is GOD on that..

  • oh my god this is nuts.

  • Holy smokin gutars!!! :)

  • come on their playin off one another, being as their both great musicians their in awe of each other, as each one is great.

  • one time to listen is enough!! BUT after 3 back to back's. I STILL CAN't stop repeat!!!!!! play on play on!!!!!!

  • you know i like listening to recordings of buddy guy but i hate live tracks of him cuz his tone is sooooooooooooooooooooo bright i think if i saw him live i think that my ears may start bleeding

  • I love Santana, but Buddy Guy is the freakin man! I think this was a great pairing. Buddy often brings other musicians out and he gives them the stage! That's what he did here. It would make me nervous as hell to have play in front of him. Santana did great for a rock musician playing the blues. But he ain't Buddy Guy! But don't get me wrong Carlos can kick some great jams as well! Great video!

  • ни один, ни другой нихера играть не умеют. вот другие их музыканты-да...

  • Honest sexy latin brides "busizz4me.info"

  • sounds like two old friends meeet together after long time and talk about the old days :)

  • Why do people bitch about great music? Why do they bitch at all?

  • santana is so not tasteful. buddy is just trying to trade licks and santana just decides to hog everything

  • 2 different styles...one thing in mind, MUSIC... that's all.

  • I really like Santana and Buddy Guy and I know they are having fun but this is not a good version in any respect. Sometimes the greats make judgements that don't work out - that's OK.

    peace

  • Santana's a great player, no doubt. This kind of blues, or genre for that matter, just isn't his style. Great respect for both players here, though.

  • Santana attacks the guitar... i think thats why he doesn´t have the blues...

  • i've never seen a strat with that colour before! it's so cool, it has polka dots on it!

  • A sweet version indeed, but to my taste Allman Brothers' version at Fillmore or Clapton's version from his 70s live stuff are somewhat better, although they are totally different - maybe just not that flashy or fast but a little more "taste" perhaps, no offense

  • 2:07, way to ruin the soulfulness santana

  • yawn...

  • Those who don't appreciate this video have never experienced a stormy monday.

  • THATS NOT SHOWING OFF ITS CALLED TALENT

  • worse version i have ever heard.PERIOD...

  • it seems Santana doesn't give Buddy a chance to shine

  • Santana is a really good guitarist, but he just doesn´t have the blues. No offence.

  • Allman Bros. version(Filmore) much better.

  • I have this DVD concert. Sorry, but the end of this reminds me of the parody Yngwie Malmsteen "I'm your guitar god little boys" instructional vid. Too much noise, IMHO.

  • could ít be better?

  • can't deal with the amount of epicness compiled in this vid... goose bumps and a an orgasm...

  • Can someone post tabs for the 2:07 move that´s so common but I can´t figure out?

  • @fc7alibi Bend the 4th tone of the Major scale on the G string up to (or almost up to) the 5th on the B string, and then finish with the note on the B string. To practice this bend in the Key of A, put your ring (3rd) finger on the 7th fret of the G string (D note) and your 1st finger on the 5th fret of the B string (E note)... strike and bend up the G string a whole step to E (or almost a whole step), and then down pick or finger pick the B string to finish off with the E note. Repeat.

  • is it me or at the begining it looked like Santana had no clue what key to play in? so buddy was messing around a little to help him find it. and as immediately buddy knew when he found it and just let Carlos do his thing

  • Buddy is great but he just got a lesson.

  • Life-Changing

  • langweilig

  • @LoriundJimi dann verstehst du leider nichts von so ner wahnsinns musik

  • the problem with santana is (and dont get me wrong) that he wants to show off mostly.. so no reason to say that santana outplayed buddy simply because he played most of the song there and buddy played lead rythm to keep up with santanas insane triplet scale solos.. theres a reason that jimi thought buddy was a brilliant musician and sometimes even canceled his own koncerts just to see him live

  • @o1zeidler you are so very wrong. No clue! If you INVITE than you let the guest lead. This was all magic and perfect just the way it is. Why can't you people just shut up and let these wonderfull musicians be themselves.

  • @HKM67 why am i wrong, when im the one with the highest voted comments here.. YOU mate, are clearly the one thats wrong here.. maybe you invite a guest to led him play everything, but that doesnt make him a ''god''..

  • @o1zeidler so you think you elevate yourself to a status of judging these world class musicians by 4 votes? There is no problm with Santana. He gave us some of the most wonderfull electric guitar music ever. Peace and hope you're well.

  • @HKM67 jesus i fail at spelling.. i must apologize, i didnt ment anything wrong.. no need to troll on the greatest music-genre of all time, the blues, you feel me?

  • @o1zeidler

Carlos Santana doesn't show off. He's too good for that ...

  • @o1zeidler Bullshit

  • @o1zeidler you're right, Buddy is the real deal. Carlos thinks so too. I think Buddy is just lettin' Carlos get a little on this tune.

  • @o1zeidler agreed, carlos made more noise than guy, but could never outplay him

  • @o1zeidler The problem with your logic is that you're assuming they're having some type of guitar face off.. They're just jamming dude. This shit is about having fun, not seeing who can play better. Both of these guys are sick...

  • @o1zeidler I think both of them, Buddy Guy and Carlos Santana, know exactly where they stand and who they are. We shouldn`t worry :)

  • @o1zeidler ..sorry pal...Santana is not a show off...As matter of fact, knowing him personally he is quite the opposite..

  • @fusheeny showing off or not he's among the top 5 world's best guitarists

  • @fusheeny you know Carlos personally ?

  • @Kejenaa I know some of his band members and have met Carlos personally several times back stage at many shows...the comment that that idiot (o1zeidler) posted was so moronic ,I had to reply to him.

  • @fusheeny You lucky something ! Yes I read it ..

  • @o1zeidler It's that showboating by Santana that makes so many people love him

  • Dude

Santana wasnt showing off. He was in the zone, the way he is when he usually plays.

Buddy enjoyed his playing as did us all.

Buddy played very well, he just got outplayed this evening, its no crime.

Sometimes you zone, sometimes not. This night, Carlos Zoned. It was a beautiful thing.

  • @o1zeidler The problem with you is that you are SUCH A RACIST ASSHOLE that you can't get over the fact that Mexican-American hold such a high place in the history of rock and roll. Get over it now or die like a loser. Subtle prejudice is still prejudice and it screams volumes about you. Stop this shit right now and sit back and enjoy the music. it's not Carlos Santana's fault that he's found his way into the light and suckas like you haven't.

  • @pieroandaluz he didnt say anything racist as far as i know

  • @minigravette1 He doesn't have to say it explicitly yet his comment speaks volumes. If Santana was a show off, then everyone that's ever played with Santana is a show off too. That includes the Vaughans, Clapton, Green, Hendrix, and Buddy. He just has a hard time reconciling his bad upbringing with real life.

  • So buddy guy is still lving?

  • @soulplatos no he is in heaven (apparently you are not ;-)

  • @ernstfuld No hes not

  • I hate this solos cause they left me desiring a note they won't reach. But, if they reach it everytime and very fast, it would be like a girl that gives you what you want with half a hour talkin. So... I hate him and I love them

  • Comment removed

  • if this doesnt give you goose bumps then you have no idea what real music is

  • @lanedeinsane sorry, this version is junk

  • It's silly to talk about outclassing when these two hit town. To each there own. Amen.

  • I wish I hadn't quit those guitar lessons back in the 9th grade!

  • @bwr3rd this IS a guitar lesson! Go pick one up it's never too late

  • i don't understand the people telling me buddy guy is the greatest ever??

not the worst of course...but definately not the best aswell!

  • @AndiiTheStratophonic Considering he influenced Jimi, Eric, and Stevie, he was doing things that Jimi was doing on stage way before Jimi did. His blues was different than what was being played by guys like BB King

  • @AndiiTheStratophonic Buddy Guy is the BEST showman. Not necessarily the best guitarist, but he is up there with clapton and them... in my opinion :) Of course Buddy Guy pretty much influence every living guitarist. Jimi hendrix copied his moves though... playing with teeth, behind the head, etc. All buddy's work :)

  • @ZribTurd what??? T-Bone Walker played behind is head FIRST

  • Isso é incrível, espetacular...duas feras da guitarra!!Eles tocam muito...parece que fazem suas guitarras conversarem...Buddy e Santana são espetaculares

  • Nobody outclasses Buddy, he's just willing to share the spotlight, and understands when less is more.

  • SANTANA OUT CLASSED HIM LOL
