Typical of early sound musicals; a lot of them had similar "how-to-do-a-new-dance" numbers like this. Unfortunately, the technology at the time was inadequate to clearly record and play back singing, so usually the convoluted lyrics aren't very understandable, especially when they're sung by a chorus.
Someone over at TCM really likes Joe E. Brown, because they usually do a day-long tribute to his films every year on his birthday. That's when I caught this one, and this particular number was such a wonderful surprise.
wow thought was going to see everrett Horton doing lets knock knees. this is peppy and delightful. LL is great and Joe E pretty light on his feet too

Is anyone else seeing Renee Zellweger here? o.O
This person looks so much like her character 'Roxy Heart' in Chicago.

@Aaron1912 what's the name of the film? I've visited your channel each day since I know it, but I would like to have more information about her...

Fab number, really fun. On another note (ha) Anyone know where the lockstep number can be found in full?

I had no idea there was a movie by this title. Is this the same show that was on Broadway the year before with Ginger Rogers?
ChristophePhilippe 2 years ago
Yes! Same show! Too bad Ginger didn't get to do the movie. She was apparently busy on the east coast at the time.
