@AteYourBaby13 It's not so much that it's bullet resistant front glass as it is the fact that the front windshield is angled which can set the bullet off course. Shooting a round through anything solid will deflect it's trajectory because the bullet's very shape is distorted as well, which cause it to go from flying in a straight line to having a possible wobble or movement in it's trajectory, which may cause it to miss.

@apharot That technology was perfected a long time ago my friend. During the civil war the inside of the barrel of the muskets was smooth causing the bullet to go straight. That made bullets get diverted away by wind and distance very easily. Now gun barrels are not smooth making the bullet spin very fast. At short range like that It wouldn't matter what slope the windshield was at. If the guy would shoot it would go straight through the windshield.

@BuffaloWarrior7 Patrol cars are not armored Einstein. Swat cars are but even they don't have bulletproof glass. Bullet proof glass is very expensive so theres no way you can put it on every cop car. Even so. If they do, bulletproof glass cracks just like any other glass. If a rock bounces on the windshield, there goes 5000 dollars.

The work to install those special windshields costs about 2000 dollars easy. (its not a regular windshield. Since it stops the bullet u don't want it to go crashing down on the driver). Im no math wiz but that would make mean the county would have to pay 7000 dollars every time a cop cracks their windshield.

They don't even issue Kevlar vests or expensive handguns for officers (which are more important than bulletproof squad cars considering ur more likely to get shot chasing a bad guy than in your car). Trust me. There is no squad car out there issued by any civic government that has bulletproof windows. Like I said it would be irresponsible for them to issue those and not better equipment. How many times do you get into the situation where the perp can shoot you in your car?
