  • What exercises would you recommend to start practicing this kind of style?

  • K,

Four years after discovering youtube, I still keep coming back to your work. SWEET!!!

    viktor

    Cottage Grove

  • are those the 57/62 pickups in there?

  • where do you get those backing tracks from?

  • very good playing and great tone !! play then blues my friend

  • This is very fine playing. The guy's into the music and he plays VERY well. Good job!

  • work on vibrato, man.

  • This guy posts a really nice video of FAR better guitar playing than the average youtube video, and all you can do is tell him what he needs to work on? Are you truly looking to help him improve, or are you just trying to tear him down to make yourself feel better? 'Cuz from over here it just seems like you're being a snarky ass.

  • great tone, great playing!

  • Bravissimo, hai dimostrato che la chitarra non è solo virtuosismi ma qualche volta il calore e il tocco valgono più di qualsiasi intricato groviglio di assoli. Ottima scelta di toni.

  • one of my favorite youtube guitar players now

  • real nice bending

  • great tone !!

  • hey what model isthis one¿?

the american vintage HOT ROD 62 or the standard american vintage 62---

and do you have any link of the backing track?

    well played..

    you are agreat bluesman

  • what is the radius of the neck?

  • @cotton207

    7.25"

  • bravo hai migliorato nel suono della chitarra, continua cosi'!

  • really nice fender.

  • cool, dude! i like such style of improvisation

can you tell me the name of the backtrack?

  • Pretty well

  • Alex, I just discovered you on you Tube last night and I am shocked that you are not making CD's. I can listen to your music again and again and again.

Not all musicians are musical but god damn you got soul! The music just pours out of you brother. Please out a compilation download together. I would pay for your music in a heartbeat.

  • greeat man !!!!!!! nice fender:)

  • i got just the same guitar ;)

  • how is your guitar freds

    ??

  • I have the same backup track... it is good. I sent you video response with my version.

You play very well, and you have great tone.

  • Smooth man real smooth. I miss my 62 strat!

  • Well.. What happened?

  • I was getting more work as a bassist, so I parted with my guitars and traded for basses. I love playing bass but I do miss having a couple of strats lying around.

  • awesome man

  • i know this is a fender video and you such something like "fender solo" to reach this video, so a lot of the watchers are probly fender lovers. but can i PLEASE have an unbiased opinion: which is better for rock/blues: fender or gibson? what are the differences.... etc. thank you

  • One sings(fender) and one has a more earthy soul(gibson). It really depends on what you feel is right for you. Personally Gibsons tend to be better for bridging the gap between blues and rock. Fender(stock) is really good in a country or blues. You will find that the more you search for a sound that you want, the more it comes down to reliability, wood(body), and pickups.

  • and one will tear up within 3-6 months(gibson)

  • Almost any guitar can grab any sound, tone is in the fingers as many older players will tell you. For example, some Blues Players whom you might say have somewhat similar playing styles eric clapton(ex:crossroads)versus Joe Perry(ie:Train Kept a Rollin')...Clapton for the longest time has been a religious strat man whereas perry probably hasn't played too many shows without his choice gibsons. Who is more bluesy than the other? It's a flavor; how do You like it?

  • (continued from previous)

in the end it all comes down to the old adage, it's how you use it. I love them both Gibson's Raunchy Heart Rippin' tone and Fender's Searing Crying. Of course if you're aiming budget, go fender. If you want (and can afford, cause let's be honest ;)) a gibson I don't see why not. If it were me, I'd get both; why be divided? I like apples and oranges, not one or the other. The differences mainly for a guitar of each brand from the same price range, well agreed are ...

  • It was great. i really enjoyed it.

  • Alder bodies(Fender, Jackson) have a little bit lighter sound. Mahogany bodies(Gibson, PRS) darker or thicker sound, which is why most hard rock/heavy metal bands in the late '70s chose gibson.

  • that's very enjoyable to hear

but you should play with a progression in the blues solo like beginning on the middle notes and going more on the high notes in the end, play with more intensity, change sound on the amp that would be more interesting ;)

  • for you... how is the tremelo bar?

  • nice!!! And where did you get that backing track? It sounds awesome.

  • im getting this one. But i dont have the VOX amp or the TS9. But can i still get this amazing tone from a 62 strat?.

  • ~Beautiful job...~~

  • Très bon, muy bueno, very good. j'suis jaloux de ton jeu de guitare

  • nicely done, bro.

  • sound very sweet and fresh, nice!!!!!

  • backing sounds like Pink Floyd - Shine on you crazy diamond (because of the organs and the drums :-D ) ^^

in my opinion: good, but in the beginning a bit more action and versatility!

and its too much scale up- scale down.

    sry but only 4 stars;-)

  • don't tell him how to play his own style geez i thought it sounded awesome and original not generic.

  • sound very good

  • hey man! this is playing is awsome!its very very good!

This guitar american vintage startocaster '62 is my dream! I will this guitar :)

  • That is a beautiful guitar. I want to get one of those. I was also looking at the 57 and the 70. Can anyone help me decide? Or if there is a better strat than either three of those?

  • The best advice I know is to go to as many places as you can and play everyone you see. When you find the one that sounds and plays like it was meant for you. That would be the one you're looking for.

  • It's been a pleasure listening to you

  • this guitar is the one with 57/62's in it, right?

great playing, by the way. nice, full tone.

  • Excellent job! Great vid, great tone and great playing!

  • Wow...awsome.....is that an American made re-issue 62?

  • Tone perfect...

    Very Good

  • Awesome run. In the few instances where we can see your face it shows that you're just enjoying yourself, which is very cool. But I have a question. Is that really a vintage strat? Because it looks brand new.

  • Thanks ;)

    Not a vintage, it's a reissue

  • very good!! I love your set up!

    what amp were you using??

sorry about my bad English beacouse I`m from Argentina! good luck!!!!!!

  • Nice u really have some great Clapton influences there :), great tone 2.

  • Dude you kick ass!!!! Can you tell me how you make your backtracks?

  • Amazing jam. Btw. I have this backtrack too :D

  • Fuck you, you're awesome! Loved your technique!

  • DUDE! When's your album coming?

    Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

  • You should get a fuzz box if u dont have one! it'll add some nice dynamics to ur already nice playing keep it up

  • Awesome dude! Your technique is really nice! Feel free to check out our vids! Any comments would be appreciated! Keep rockin dude!

    ~Skye

  • Great!

  • DUDE!!!!! you really do have the blues! all ur stuff is great i've watched it all! keep on the good work man i wish i could play blues like you do!

  • Man!!!

  • That is just about as good as it gets when it comes to playing the blues. You just got a new subscriber and I got a new channel to enjoy. Thanks.

  • Enjoying your blues very much...

  • like a David Gilmour lead...awesome playing dude

  • man soundin awesome!

  • nice playing man, nice tone too...where did you get that backing track?...i think you said youtube home page?...i don't know what that means, does it have a name?

  • what's the tuning stability like with this guitar?

  • very good. If you know how to installed correctly your strings, there is no problem at all.

  • Man this is so soulful I'm getting a retarded blues face going on here

  • oh, and what kind of overdrive did you use in this? that tone is incredible

  • if i remember well, no pedal in this one, or maybe a TS9. ;)

  • hey man, that was righteous, could you post the link of the backing track you used in this? im nowhere near as good as you but im gonna use it to practice :)

  • urls for backtracks are in youtube homepage. ;)

  • Killer!!!!

  • great, clapton sounds!!

  • its so much easier to jam on a backing track than without one and more fun too. i love your tone.

  • what vox amp do you have? ac15?

  • that sounds realy good! you play on a stratocaster with a black neck. what's the difference between a black neck and a blond neck? is there a sound different?

  • thanks.

Yep, rosewood fretboard (black) has a warmer tone than maple (white). It's a matter of taste and feeling. ;)

  • You sound great. What type of pedal is the TS9?

  • It's an overdrive ;)

  • hey dude, i have got the same axe, excellent guitar, i love it.

Well played, great solo, rock on

  • u really are great, i love that tone, u play fantastic

  • Dude, you freakin' rock..It's too bad there aren't more great blues players nowadays like you. I am practicing blues, I still have to get that essence of it, probably because I am 14, haven't experienced any "real" blues yet, :D.

    Keep on rockin'.

  • rock on bro

  • smooth, great tone, keep on playing

  • Man, you're a fantastic player, really... and you have a huge sound too. It's thanks to people like you that I want to play better and better ! Thank you anyway :)

  • You have a really great tone that I feel is not really like SRVs tone but more of a Clapton tone from the mid 90s. What's the settings on your amp like?

  • thanks.

I like SRV, but i listen much more Clapton in my life. ;)

and i jammed a lot with Clapton's CD, so it influenced me a lot i guess. ;)

Settings on the BJ : Master on 2, no reverb, 2 on Bass, 4 on treble and 12 on middle.

And the volume (gain) on 8,5

  • i love your tone.. i'm looking to buy a new amp soon and i wanted to ask you for you advice on what to get... currently i have 60th anniversary standard strat and some crappy line 6 spider 212 that doesn't sound good with my strat at all.. i cant seem to get a good tone out of it and it makes me mad every time i play it... but i love my strat

  • Interrogate yourself on hte power you can use at home, and then try a few ! ;)

  • I don't like my Spider II at all either. I just bought a Fender Blues Jr. (I play strats), and what a difference! Get yourself a Blues Rr. and you'll be a happy man!

  • "so that i could marry you."..."wish u were a girl.." LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL^^

  • that tone, man, is so far as good as a guitar can made

  • wish u were a girl..

  • oh... Why that ?

  • so that i could marry you.

  • :D

    Sorry, i'm a guy, and i'm already married... ;)

  • =(. Btw i love your guitar. Do you know of any good places to get a nice american strat for a good price? :D.

  • I sold my 2 stratocasters (including this one) to buy my new one, a strat custom shop 1960 Relic. I bought it in New York City, at Matt Umanov guitars. Very good shop. ;)

  • =O. Have you ever tried a Gibson SG? What do you think of it for playing the blues?

  • Yes of course. Very good guitar. Not my kind, but very good. If you want to buy a guitar, for blues or anything, try a lot of guitars. The one you prefer will be the best. ;)

  • i can't decide between the two. i have a mexican made strat right now and want to upgrade since i've reached a level where i'm happy with investing more money. Probably will go with a strat cause it's wha ti'm used to

  • go for strat. i bought an sg and returned after 2 days. if strat's what you're used to everything else won't feel right. that's it works for me.

  • Very nice sounds and great skill!

You really feel the music and that's the point.

    Keep up the good work!

  • thanks ;)

  • is that a custom shop new old stock or it's really a mint condition 62 strat?

  • It's an american vintage reissue 62. not a custom shop ;)

  • how do u gt ur beats

  • do u hav the 8 way pick up elector orthe 3

  • I replaced the 2 ways selector with the 5 ways supply by Fender when i bought it. ;)

  • Great tone! Hints at SRV for sure

  • I think this is the best user posted video of guitar ive seen

  • Dude you rock man you enjoy the bluse keep that !!

  • Man, great improvisation!! I surely added this as a favorite, for sure!! great guitar, great amp, great tone!! keep up the good work, dude!!

  • thanks. ;)

  • this was awesome! you play with loads of feeling i loved it. the guitar is incredible! if u like blues guitar then chek out my video :)

  • your playing is great, but the vox amps lack that fender in-your-face aspect. I bought a deluxe reverb from fender for home playing, its phenomenal. great playing once again, keep it up

  • You live in a House ? Because the Deluxe is very loud.

and yeah, i prefer the Fender than the Vox. ;)

  • hahaha yea, im slowly going def but thats the price you pay

  • Hi,

can you sid me what set used with your strat 62?

    amp, effect, etc

    thank's

  • soon, i will update my homepage with all my gear. ;)

  • Kassad, please tell !!, what is the opening chord in this vid?

Tried to figured it out, but still can't find it..and it sounds great.

  • It's in the title... in A ;)

  • how old are u...and how did u get ahold of that beautiful piece of ass?? 62' holy crap. i just shit my pants a lill bit.

  • I'm 32... and it's a 62 reissue... ;)

  • wat string size do u use?

  • 10/46

  • hey greeeat playing,,where can i get that backing track!!???

  • Hey! Great blues man!! And great guitar too ^^

  • Really nice sound and you play very sensively... I really love that blues sound.

    Keep on playing men!

  • dude thats awesome great tone!!!!!!

  • that is some awesome tone

  • Really nice man, very Claptonish (not a word, I know) Good taste and little excess, the tone is also great. My guitar teacher used to say that silences are a big part of music and I can tell that you understand that, you say a lot whe you don´t say anything.

I´m gladd I saw this vid, you are very good and I´m not exagerating.

  • what a great tone!

  • this is one of the best guitar bits i've seen on youtube.. couple of missed notes though.

i hope you aren't trying to bend that tremolo arm backwards, it sometimes looks like you are... that's a good way to knacker your expensive guitar.

  • thanks. Yes, my playing is so far to be perfect. ;)

No, i didin't try to pull the arm backwards. ;)

  • lol ... scatching ur arse during the trill..

  • Awesome, how are you not famous?

  • I love your playing, it flows. You are a good mixture of technique and heart. And the strat sounds and looks fantastic. Beautiful instrument and playing.

  • do you listen to a lot of kenny neal?

you sound very similar to him- keep up the good work

  • I didn't know him, but i should.

I'm lookin for him now. ;)

    thanks

  • OH MY GOD! You are awesome, I have never seen something like that. What scales were you using? This is gold, this is the ne w Eric Clapton and Johnson. Go on, good blues

  • thanks kassad

  • Hey kassad. Nice playing. It's a funny thing, you've really encouraged me into playing blues. No I'm playing no else. I'm 15 years old and I think of posting my first video on youtube soon. However I must say that I'm not nearly as good as you are and I play a bit more Hendrix style. There is, however, one problem. I don't have any equipment to record my playing... What do you use to record you're music? Because recording with my mobile phone or something gives a very crappy sound...

    Thanks

  • Thanks !

    For recording i used :

    - a webcam Creative Labs, only for video

    - a Mic Sure in front of the amp directly plugged in my PC, with a X-Fi sound card

    - Windows Movie Maker. Very basic but enough for this.

I hope it will help you

  • you can get a 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter and use a normal instrument cable from the line out of your amp to the line in of your computer.. just make sure you turn off windows' own amp software ("MicBoost"). That's what I do.. cos i'm cheap.

it's better to mic up an amp with a quality mic though as much of the tone of an overdrive comes from a musical speaker, bypassing the speaker loses tone. there's a vid on youtube somewhere about different ways to mic an amp, but i can't find it.

  • No wonder why so many people love kassad's playing....although you cannot say that his playing is up to pro standards ,he has some things that even some pros lack..:taste and soul.......Hey there kassad62 , keep it up....you must know that you and some other guys here on youtube give great inspiration to young kids that have just pick up the guitar....

  • thanks Longestshadow... :)

  • hes the best player on youtube, I think hes "the boy"

  • You again!? :O You're definitely my favorite non-signed blues guitarist, both when it comes to style and tone!

    Keep it up :)

  • Man i must say you have a real talent and don't waste it!! but i've got to ask, for how long have you been playing the guitar?

  • thanks... i'm a lazy player. I play since i'm 16. ;)

  • I want to make my playing sound so smooth and great as yours, your warm tones touch me man!

  • oooooh. how seductive. hahaha

  • Your playing and style reminds me a lot of Robert Cray. Nice job!

  • Hello It's great!

Could tell me somebody where can I find an accompaniment like this? Please help me!

  • urls for backtracks are in my profile. :)

  • waaaaa so marvellous !!!!!!! i love it !

  • excellent damnit Very much in love with your style of playing...I have a fender myself they can sound beautiful when played right!!!

  • I really would like to play with you an impro. something like a "guitar-battle". not for seeing how´s penis is bigger, but just for having fun. ahh...i love blues.

  • I'd like too ! ;)

  • Guess the storm does it huh? Nice tone on that strat, a '62 reissue I presume?

  • you presumed well. ;)

    thanks !

  • You are great!!! thx for posting

  • if im right then your fingerboard radius is 7.25" or 184mm, do u have any problems with freting out on the high string bends? and great tone

  • it happen sometimes... But, not very often. It's rare. I think it depends of your playing. ;)
