Sammy could sing just fine, but I'd be pretty pissed off if I went to a VH show and they didn't play any of their songs because the new lead singer didn't like singing the old songs because he wasn't on 'em.
These guys were great during this album and tour. I wish they kept the music more rockin. They went from one or two commercial songs on 5150 to the whole album sounding lite and fluffy on 0U812 which in my opinion is the worst VH album next VH111.
Mikes a smokn bass player. Check out chickenfoot. He just didn't have room to play in Van Halen. He didn't need to he was a team player and played 16th notes without ever complaining. somebody had to hold the beat while Ed and alex went crazy. Obviously you haven't played in a band.
Its Rumored that Eddie's solo between 2:55-3:25 is part of a new song with Dave to be on the new album. I can't tell you about my source for the truth, I mean rumour. He never played this solo the same way twice during those 86' shows. So this will be a strike of luck if it happens. GREAT SOLO. I can see a song coming from this. I believe..
When I saw this concert in Porltand, Oregon Sammy said: Hello babbbbby, then Eddie started YOU REALLY GOT ME!!!! It was my first concert Oct. 26, 1986!!!! Still my all time favorite BAND OF ALL TIME!!!!!
@jamminjohn you nailed it. They are off on a few places. Alex falls down the stairs and lands almost on his feet. Alex is quite...drunk at this time. His timing is way off...he's early on a few and does a drum fill and comes in late....no worries...coz the right here right now live video is Alex's redemtion...he rulz on that.
There's barely any video of the actual thing. Most of it is just clips from the DVD played over the song. And the end was completely from the actual end of the show.
@MacEricG And what about DREAMS? That was a big hit for them at the time. I've gotta go back and check my bootlegs but I'm pretty sure they played it this night as well.
esta epoca de van halen fue de las mejores como tambien la de david, la era de cherone no sue tan mala como la mencionan, simplemente el nombre y la escencia de van halen no eran para la voz de cherone, para suplantar a sammy me hubiera gustado como candidao a billy idol
Why does every discussion on Van Halen here have to turn into argument who was better - Sammy or Dave. I mean take them for their own merit. I prefer the Sammy era - which doesn't mean that I should put Dave down.
On another note - excellent video. I wonder why wasn't this included on the video?
@marica1604 I agree 100%. I prefer the Dave era VH, because I grew up on it. I happen to love the Sammy stuff too. But even if I didn't, why put it down? There's always gonna be some element of competion in music but some take it too far.
Sammy was a successful solo artist, so idk how ppl can say DLR is better, since his voice is worse, and you need an awesome voice to be a solo artist, he had a good voice, just look at I can't drive 55....
sphen5150...thank you for posting this!!!! Awesome shit!!! And whats with the singer argument again?? Shut the fuck up and listen to the music!!! Get over it, it happened!! Listen to Eddie's blitzkreig work......who cares whos singing!
Sammy was good for sum songs but david lee had: runnin with the devil janeys cryin unchained everybody wants sum ice cream man hot 4 teacher jump panama i'll wait and way more!!!! DAVID LEE ROTH!!!!!
okay okay, roth is the van halen singer, okay but sammy and gary were awesome, the order of who was the greatest goes the order but gary i gotta give props to ,hes great ,hes great singer, great performer and whens hes on hes on
That is the best comment ive seen on VH's vids!!! Enough of the argument allready.....lets watch Eddie blast another riff out instead of arguing who's better...I love both versions!!! And anoydal....Sit down Waldo!!!!! you piece of shit!!! Everyone..." Avoid The Noyd"!!!
It was on the sleeve's tracklisting on the original VHS video release. Shame it wasn't included, killer tune! The version from the New Haven show is floating around, that show was also broadcast on radio in '86
Great job! Can't wait to see your next postings of whatever you have from the the LWAN shows! Great Van Halen era sans Dave, but who liked Dave by then anyway? He was crazy from the heat by then. Oh, and I hadn't thought of "rack of what?!?" in ages! Thanks!
I've heard another live version of this. Before Sammy goes into his "Hey waitress" bit, he talked to the audience for a minute or two, asking them to participate, "Rocka-what?". I noticed you edited that out here lol.
There are some other songs that were left out from LWAN... and other bits like in the middle of Best of Both Worlds... Addicted To Love.
What pissed me off was that Good Enough was printed in the song list on the back of the video cover I bought in 1987 and it wasn't on there. The cover was corrected with the DVD release. Too bad the DVD wasn't updated instead to have all the unreleased stuff.
Hmmm.....that eddie solo may have been overdubbed afterwards in the studio. i notice there is no footage of it in this clip. none at all, no part of this video matched the notes, the pulls or whammy effects in the solo but the energy of the solo sounds live. we just do not know if the mix =(sweetened crowd noise) was the only thing they did to this recording after the tour. but it is a fuckin' stupendous solo and would have been hard to believe anyhow.
The poster said the audio and video are from different shows basically. Audio is said to be from a soundboard from the LwaN show(s), and the video is amateur footage from another show.
To the people who think this is not from the soundboard and maybe some studio trick you are simply nuts. I saw them back then and they sounded exactly this good at every show I was at. They were incredible with Sammy. Also two good friend of mine were actually at the 2 nights they taped for LWOAN and they were have told me what you see is basically what you get. Of course there is post production and mixing to get the levels right and eliminate bad feedback. Simply the best live band ever.
Man how did you get the unreleased audio it rocks and is that a Dean guitar Hagar is using . Now I know were Dime got his from lol ,great editing too mate you should have done live without a net lol it would have turned out better .
