    I hope I can though.

  • LOL, i dont know! I just hear weird stuff :o

  • AKAJAKJAKAJAJ

    funny one

  • super hearing....wtf!!!

  • @bboygrimza HAhahaha

  • whats he saying?...

  • It's essentially what doh777 said. He's talking about the differences in the timbre of various positions. He mentioned that it sounds like a more old style and more reminiscent higher up the neck. He's basically giving tips on how to insert emotional into the song and make it more believable.

  • I can hear a phrase from Waltzing Matilda in this song. Now I know why I like it..

  • Can someone translate this in English??

  • oo he said words in spanish

    "al aire" (open)

    "apoyando" (pressing)

  • yesss at 0:11 he says "que bonitos ojos" ROFL

  • although i do not know japanese, i believe he is talking about the tone difference between playing the beginning notes on the higher strings and the lower strings.

i think hes elaborating on why he plays it on the lower strings...probably since it is a mellow song that most likely sounds better on the lower strings.

  • That's right. He prefers to play on high positions since he thinks it sounds better for this particular song.

  • i think he play there cause the vibrato is easier

  • who translate!!!!!????????????!!!!!!!!!!!

  • someone make this video but in english!!!!!!!!!!!!! or come and teach me japanese!!!!!!!!

  • long fingernails```

  • good song but holycrap long finger nails D:

  • Uh, that would be JAPANESE?

  • NO SUBTITLES

  • i wan TAB

  • cool.

  • If you notice, his fingernails are trimmed on his left, but to help the tone and sound, he has grown his thumb and index nails longer on his righthand...common in finger pick style -- he comments on it in the clip.

  • does anyone have a tab of Happy Island???

  • Many thanks to the translator. Cheers!

  • is this standard tuning or open?

  • standard eadgbe

I don't know if this is correct or not but for this song I play it in this way using the thumb and pointer finger.

For the thumb I use (he says, 'Aruaide'. Probably meant Tirando). [Playing] And finally here, I use the middle finger.

In the beginning, it may be difficult to play it apoyando. It is okay to play it (he says, 'aruaide' probably meant Tirando).

When you get used to it then you can try it apoyando, please.

Have a grand image in mind, most importantly, to play this song...

I think it nice for the player, to add to the Wind Song...

I think that there are lots of great guitar players in this world...

Don't be limited by the score nor by Oshio Kotaro...

Please give thought to playing your Wind Song...

  • omgosh thanks

    youre awesome

  • (8)

In the second half of the song, near the end there is a chord that is used a lot in jazz. The song ending could have used Chord D7 to G but changed it to a reverse Chord A Flat 7 Flat 5. Probably you have no idea what I am saying... Here, I wanted it to be 'jazzy' and so I changed it. You can play the chord like this or this other way.

  • (7)

Those who have classical guitar, they may play chords by bringing their thumb over the neck. This is bad technique and is not recommended. Rather than playing the chord in this manner (pointer finger across 2nd fret) the thumb comes around because of habit. For those already used to it because that is the way you were taught and do not want to change please continue. But, in reality it is wrong technique.

  • The only wrong technique is the one that doesn't work. If you look at most of the "popular" muscians hardly any of them are truly using proper technique. Since most don't learn on it...we usually don't have it. Right and Wrong is just a matter of how YOU perceive it and nothing but. To me it's always right if you can get it to work. I do know what you are saying. And I dont want to seem like I am just criticizing you. I am criticizing "the thought" in general. of right and wrong. vague.

For the beginning part of the Wind Song, I play the melody apoyando with the pointer finger only. You ask, why I play it with the pointer finger? Good question. When I played using the middle, pointer, and ring finger I found slight differences in the sound produced. Perhaps that has something to do with the length of the fingernail... I tried different methods for experimentation and finally thought this is good way.

  • (4)

It is used to bring out melody to produce a big fat tone. When a note is played the plucking finger travels past the plucked string and stops at the next string above. For example, if you pluck string 4 the finger stops at string 5 and if you pluck string 2 the finger stops at string 3.

The opposite of apoyando is (he says 'Aruaide', maybe he meant Tirando aka Free-stroke?) In this technique, you do not touch the adjacent string.

  • (3)

So for this song I went with playing it mid-neck.

Also, it is easier to put vibrato (mid-neck) in comparison to (near Headstock)

The sound produced is different. Hear it? Playing towards the Headstock sounds more sharp does it not? For these reasons, it is played at the mid-neck position.

Another important point for this song in this program is the picking technique called apoyando (aka Rest-stroke). It is considered basic in classical guitar.

  • (2)

For those who read tab will play it (like this)

And for those who read the music score without looking at the tab may play it like this (higher towards the Headstock)

To play it like that is okay, but I play it (mid-neck) because I found that the sound coming from the sound hole seemed much fuller when played in this manner. When I played it higher towards the headstock, the sound produced seemed somewhat deficient.

Oshio Kotaro shares his guitar playing experience.

The following is the translation (to the best of my ability) from the Japanese to English.

    ---

    Wind Song

Many people with love playing this song...

In this program, I would like to talk about the playing techniques.

For those learning to play the guitar, I think this song is a good place to start.

If you look at the sheet music, you will find music score notation and below it guitar tab.
