wow. i loved that :3 i'm perfoming this in a few weeks this has really helped me and my fellow drama students, with characterisation especially. great acting. thanks <3
Not bad, could use some better camera work and it'd benefit from a more elegant or extravagant set but still not all bad. The acting was ok, a few to many stumbles for my taste but hey everyone makes mistakes. I did like the valet, best one of the bunch.
@Sydpart2 Thank you. As for the scenery, there was the stipulation set by our professor that we were only allowed to use the black acting blocks, as this was a final exam (more or less) for a directing class and not a fully realized production. And I tried my best with the camera, I don't own a tripod and I've never had the need to record something this long before. But I'm glad you liked it all the same. =)
@manzanitajane First of all, if I've been rude to you, I apologize, I don't think I meant to be so blunt. Anyway, of course what we're talking about is preferential. I can say as a person who loves the work of Jean Paul Sartre that our interpretations are just not in alignment at all. For example, the ending is intense, so I would have silence and not music, but again that's just me. :P We can agree to disagree
@greenview14 There was no offense taken. It's just I've haven't had anyone yet make that comment towards this production. As the director, I was trying to defend what I saw in the play - which obviously is not what everyone sees in the play. Sorry if I came across too strongly. I'm just very proud of this production and of my actors. I'm grateful for the constructive criticism and the chance to try and defend my artistic choices. It's been a year since I directed this. It's nice to revisit it.
@greenview14 Who says? I can tell you from extensive research that Sartre had multiple purposes and meanings for the play and that as an existentialist he wanted people to find their own meaning behind what he was saying. As the director, I found a lot of dark humor in this script and absurdist elements and chose as my interpretation to highlight those, just a little.
@greenview14 - obviously your personal opinion - many in the actual audience would disagree with you. I had philosophy professors who attended the show tell me that they thought the production was quite good and thought-provoking and were excited to see a production that didn't take itself too seriously. Theatre, just like life, is what you make of it, that's the heart of existentialism.
@manzanitajane I disagree with greenview as well. Sometimes the most evocative works are comedies. After all, "life is much too important to be taken seriously."
Very good. They are all very talented.

@manzanitajane I stand by what I said, there's too much comic relief to leave a person really pondering their own existance after the last line
