Both yes and no, i agree that traktor can do wonders for a deejay, as long as he or she brings something new to the table in form of unique mixing, and not just mashing up two tracks, in that case its the simplest solution of deejaying and that will not suffice.

Vinyl was the beginning, then cds and now mp3s and i would never want to be without the xperience it has givin me, ive learned to deejay the "hard" way, and now its time to reap the rewards that "Compu-djn" signifyes.

@ap308ktm you can't. at least not yet until traktor pro 2 is out, which also features the loop recorder. but even then it'd be really difficult, if not impossible, to keep control of all the levels since that's only a 2 channel mixer.

@8St3fan8 No, he's using Traktor Kontrol S4, a new version for Traktor only for S4 controllers. NI announced Traktor Pro 2, that will include S4 features for everyone.

Actually, He just has the foot petal to start the Loop Recorder. That records everything he's doing to a 16 bar loop. He can then record *over* that loop to layer stuff on. That gives you the ability to do things on the fly live that you would normally have to pre-record to do, as shown here.

i mapped my vci to do the same moving a knob, know the loop is moving trough the track when i press shift and move the knob.

When i move only the knob the loop change in size

One more thing!, i rather pay money to see this kind of performance, that having a drunken, tired and somewhat disagreeable dj spinning the same tune or genre over and over again weekend after weekend.

With this you can deliver a unique set every day of the week, the audience get their moneys worth and they come back to the club for sure.

I have CDJ 2000 / DNS 3700, DJM 800s, 909s, and im going controlorist all the way, just think of remixing a tune on the fly, = Instant hit, fame & glory.

Ean is not a dj, hes an ARTIST, bringing new stuff to the table, you cant do this on a cdj 1000 / 2000 kit even if your life depended on it, im from a traditional dj, spinning for about 19 years and with traktor S4 or Denon MC6000 you have ways to manipulate the music and audiance in ways not possible before.

If everyone buy this stuff, the lines and borders between djs rubs out, and one thing remains, the MUSIC, U have the tools, and its up to you to use them.

Looked in the vid like he was using scratch pro instead of the S4 software. Take a look at 1:24 seconds. I was under the impression that the S4 sofware only played 2 vitual decks and the other 2 were samplers. Anyone want to confirm that?

Obviously this is a great demo. But DJing is getting too complex, just play a good track you don't have to make the track yourself. And if you do just get a copy of Reason or Ableton Live and make it that way instead of trying to make it on a DJ mixer. The hardware looks good though but I hope most people won't try and do this with it. It's like with turnatblism, only a small amount of people can do it well.

@dioxide74 Versatility .. Creativity .. I've remixed choons in Traktor, this device would enable me to further exploit Traktor's capabilities as well as my own .. That's not to say I'd do it live in a club, but certainly when I get the bug to create a remix at home, I can use the same device and software .. Genuine copies of Reason and Ableton aren't free, whereas Traktor Pro S4 comes with the hardware
