  • Heard this on Flicka -3 :)

  • Gunna sing this at kareoke ! <3 Love this song !

  • Credits song 4 the totally underrated, "The Burrowers". This Rendition is very nice but the guy who sings this 4 the film blows this out of the water - imo. Gotta find his name. Perfect tune 4 the fim - much like Hank W.'s, "Ramblin Man" was perfect adjunct for Gary Sinese's rendition (on stage) of Shepard's book. Both combos of productions & songs are highly underrated.

  • i have to sing this for a solo contest so this helped but im singing in a differnt key

  • @HanaSora10

First "floor" in there was meant to be "door"

  • Why do I feel so sleepy??

*drops android due to tiredness which causes loud bang*

Mom practically breaks the floor coming in room

Mom: what are you doing in he...

AH THE FLOOR!! HOW DID YOU PUT I HOLE IN THE FLOOR!!?

Brother looks up from the kitchen

    Brother:hi mom!! :D

(But this song still makes me sleepy...........)

  • I know this song by heart! I posted a video of me singing it...but my audio wasn't so great, so I sound static-y...

  • my dad always sang this song to me when i was little. Not this version but the same main chorus.

  • Am I the only one who pictures some psychotic lady singing this as she's suffocating her child under a pillow?

  • @deanie89142 nope but i picture you in a mental institution on youtube trolling!

  • @thegod098 Nah, they let me out. You can't have phones there, and they don't have computers or pretty much any communication with the outside world

  • This version is lovely. So soothing and its almost haunting the way the voices blend. Beautiful nonetheless. Thanks for this!

  • I'm 13 and listening to this to sleep ^_^

  • Why do this and All the Pretty Little Ponies by Kenny Loggins sound suspiciously similar?

  • 8 people didn't go to sleep :P

  • @breyerhorseluved You're more than welcome. i know its always nice to have someone out there to talk to so i know im a stranger but im here. im glad your going to make the last of Brendans years the best. thats an awesome attitude. but im still praying for the best.

  • watched this minutes before i found out my.friends horse died....terrible. but this song is amazing. never heard it til flicka ...but since then listen and sing it daily

  • This always brings me back to that time I read wide awake for the first time... If only I could experience the magic all over again. TwT

  • This is one of my honor choir songs. :)

  • @breyerhorseluved to find it. it took me a year. you just have to keep in mind that he is in good hands and one day you will be with him again. he will be healthy, strong, happy, and he will be waiting. i really wish you and your family the best of luck. prayers for Brendan are still here. he is one strong boy. just like Sebastian was, a fighter.

  • @breyerhorseluved yes its amazing how cheerful a child can be when they know the end is near. I know how you feel i felt like they could do more to prevent it too. i was in such denial even a year after he passed. i thought there was something i could do and even had dreams every night that i had another opportunity to save him. yet fate always kept its course.. its really hard and im absolutly sure that what your going through is so tough. youre strong. everyone has it in them you just have

  • Wide Awake *----*

  • This song makes me realize how much comfort can come from a song. My older brother sang it to me and my twin before he passed away from Juvenal cancer. Not to long after that my parents split up and me and my twin brother we placed in two different homes, then I found out my twin had ran away from our dads house because he was being abused.

I thought my life was done, then one day I was in the park and I heard someone singing this, my twin and me haven't left each others side since then.

  • This song reminds me and me horse Carl micheal he's my friend and singing this to him always calmed him down but not just him others to great lullaby

  • Could someone please tell me the name of the person singing??

  • @LaurenLuvsBVB

the singer is Becky Jean Williams

she also sings some amazing Christmas Songs too you can find them and this song on itunes

  • So loving...

Thumbs up if Wide Awake by Angstgoddess003 brought you here xP

  • @ValerieAlFo Yeeeeah! Angst rocks!

  • @ValerieAlFo Yeah, Angst roocks!

  • I love this lullaby! Best lullaby ever!!

  • You spelled flutter wrong...can anyone spell right anymore and perhaps do a spell check before they post a video. Argh, pet peve.

  • Whenever I hear this song it reminds me of a graveyard I went too. It was a really old one my dad showed me and he went to it when he was little... It's a children's graveyard. It's so sadd.. The worst part of it is, is that I've been different ever sense I went there... The worst part, I found a skull... I little baby's skull.. And now I can never close my eyes without seeing a wierd little face... And now this song makes me think of it, but I love this song.

  • @23Lemke23

Oooh, if that story can't get any creepier, this and it's "Horses" counterpart were sung to dying children way back in the day.

I prefer it as a general lullaby-to-dreamland, personally XD

  • this was my lullaby :)

  • Anybody else here from an MLP fan fiction?

  • @xXKirbyPwnage223

    Eeyup.

  • @xXKirbyPwnage223

    Well...yeah.

  • @xXKirbyPwnage223 Yeah, Wide Awake, Edward and Bella twist story? XP

  • @xXKirbyPwnage223 What fanfic was it?

  • @glitchmagician I don't remember. It was a while ago.

  • @glitchmagician Could be Envy and Arrogance. Did you arrive here from FIMFiction? If so, then that's probably what fan fic you're talking about......

  • @shadow0knight It's actually my fic. That's why I was wondering. Pen name: Mindblower; Main characters: Mane Six, Scootaloo, and a few OCs, notably Obsidian. Plans for Guilt and Hate being drafted, and a short story series called Amaranthine being drafted. You know the drill. Glad it's catching on! :D

  • @glitchmagician Wide Awake, <333

  • @glitchmagician Alicorn, Part 1, sequel to Mommy Nearest. It's best to read the latter first.

  • @xXKirbyPwnage223 Envy and arrogance?

  • @MechanizeDragon No, it was a lot longer ago than that. I haven't read Envy and Arrogance, though I've been thinking about it.

  • @xXKirbyPwnage223 I see... Well I ignored it for a little while but I eventually read it,I'm at chapter ten and I'm liking it so far. This may be the reason you're here but it has links to songs that match the story very well and are greatly placed. Also, what fic were you reading that lead you here?

  • @MechanizeDragon I don't remember what story it was. Sorry.

  • i can barely hear it

  • @breyerhorseluved Im sorry to hear that. its so hard. prayers to your cousin, you and your family.. i hope for peace and the best to him.

i never had a parent sing to me..

so my children will have me.. :)

  • This reminds me of my older brother

  • The origin is so sad :(

  • pretty little ponies is better but it is a beautiful lulluby

  • i started crying.. im so happy and sad at the same time. the most beautiful song i've ever heard

  • This song was written in the times of slavery. Women slaves would have children, and their masters wouldn't always let them keep them... many times the children would be killed soon after birth. However, some mothers would flee their plantations to go far enough north where they could lay their babies in a field and leave them there in hopes they would be rescued from the lives they led. They'd sing this to the screaming children until they fell asleep... then they would turn and walk away.

  • Wikipedia says:

It was originally sung by an African American slave who could not take care of her baby because she was too busy taking care of her master's child. She would sing this song to her master's child (Lacy 1986, p. 76).

  • Hi this song is sooooo pretty

  • i miss my best friend

  • I love this.. it's so haunting.

  • never mind the sad origins. if people didn't love this lovely melody and song, the meaning behind it might be lost too. it's still a great lullaby.

  • When life was hard I would find myself wandering into my very sick little brothers room and sing this lullaby to him. Somehow it comforted me knowing he was at peace when I sang to him.

He was my doorway to sanity.

    R.I.P Sebastian
