  • Where did those guys leave from?

  • I love seeing the L.A. metro system in action. As an Angeleno who's living in NYC for the last 5 or so years, I love hearing the sound of a train moving and opening its doors for passengers in my hometown. Mass transit brings out the character of a city and connects people (even if you don't speak to anyone on the train). It's a real City atmosphere.

  • All thru the late 80s/early 90s there was all the fucking whining and fucking snivelling about the "waste" of the Red Line but mark my words the time will come when persons in L.A. are gonna freak if/when something breaks down on the metro lines.

The importance of the metro lines WILL eventually become important enough for transportation system of L.A. that a breakdown in a metro line will be the equivalent of a freeway overpass collapse.

  • They built the red line cars with those "cushion" seats to entice people into the system but those "cushions" are gonna turn pretty fucking disgusting eventually and the MTA is gonna HAVE to go to what ALL metro systems do and use LONGITUDINAL PLASTIC seating.

  • boy that train really flys on the way to/from the valley. look how crowded it is! sure proved those road warrior wrong. that will be love once the wilshire, west hollywood and crenshaw/la brea routes are built! One of the cleanest and most decorative in the USA

  • the philadelphia transit system has in total 288 stations (and is currently expanding) washington dc is the 2nd largest (a distant second behind nyc)

  • They are building two more new light rail lines in LA, open in the next two years. More subway lines WILL get built eventually, they just passed a new transit tax, BUT, it is going to take like 10 years from now. However, by 2015, LA will have the fourth largest train system in the USA, after NYC, Chicago and San Francisco (even bigger than Boston, Washington, or Philadelphia!)

  • say

  • yea wat lilfrank

  • um the dc metro is 10 x better then dis nd for yall la metro fans um u cant say nothing horrible cause we dc metro can talk about stuff we have dat u dont so oh bounce

  • Apparently you guys don't have dictionaries. Or spell check for that matter.

  • Uhhh.... was that English?

  • ive been to nyc, london, chicago, and i have to say the best subways ive been on have been mexico city, if you miss the train it's all good bcz seriously there is one that comes by within like 2 minutes, no joke!!! i love it. girls like it too because there is an all women car, where they dont have to worry about men prying on them. london and nyc suck because they are really late !! L.A is getting better but still needs to expand more, however there is like a billion buses in L.A!

  • >>WizzardSorcerer

    >billion buses in L.A.

You hit the nail right on the head. LA used to have quite a streetcar rail system, until it was dismantled in favor of an automobile-friendly road network (Great American Streetcar Scandal?). Gawd the thought of that makes me sick. Now, decades after LA realized their mistake (lol enjoy your pollution and gridlock), FINALLY they're re-investing in rail, but still not quite there yet.

  • i never knew their were subways in l.a.

    WOW

new york is not the only one now

    other than london and tokyo

  • the LA subway always creeps me out after I saw "Volcano"

  • just hollywood trying to scaring you

  • barcelona, spain 1908, the construction of subway began... until our days ;)

  • i live right across from the subway on sunset and vermont and i use the subway all the time to the gym on Hollywood and vine. Thier are wird peeps on thier sometimes like this one time this crazy black dood was screaming with foam coming out of his mouth, dood was on crack man hahaaa

  • Heck! Even Mexico City, which has far worse traffic than L.A, has a better rail system.

  • Does anyone know how fare collection or proof-of-payment work on the LA metro.

  • Los Angeles's subway is cleaner than N.Y.'s subway.

  • @denny906 Not as many people use it and it's not a 24-hour system. Helps to keep it cleaner than New York's subway system.

  • Philadelphia's subway is alot cleaner than LA's subway and not as scary as LA's subway.

  • Um, there are some real idiots in here. I rode the LA Subway yesterday and it was pretty convenient. It was clean, punctual, and efficient. It all just depends on where you are and where you are going.

  • I rode the old "red cars" in LA and in Hollywood... moved before these were done. I hope they help the traffic problem some and are "safe".......

  • a lot of people ride the LA subway. I've never been on a car where there isn't people standing.

  • yeah, i lived in la for 6 years and harly rode the train, only the blue line to ling beach and sometimes the red line, but when I was in new york, i would use the train all the time

  • yes, traffic is horrific.

  • LA needs to expand its subway and commuter rail system and get people out of cars!

  • if "people hardly ride" means "over a million people ride la metro daily, with over 20% of them on rail", then yah i guess so. please, the subway, commuter rail, and bus system are probably the only relief in this city drowning in its own traffic.

  • New York City Subway is better
