  • best motherboard in the world

  • Affirmative guys :), the Xilence Interceptor Pro supports this motherboards!

    Cheers!

  • Why cant this type board run gaming and everything else. from impression it looks well my jaw dropped off months ago.

So while xeon is interesting processor why cant it run games, and if so have any people ever done it before minute this guy mentions 16 gig sli it raises question again is it possible since xeons not consumer embedded.

  • @quadcorecocsukr It runs games

  • Are this 2 xeons powerfull than a i7-980X 6core or a i7-3960X ?

  • any one else rolling there eyes as he touches every part of the board in trun, with out any anti static precautions !

  • *drool* I think the ideal one to use is the Intel Xeon X5690 with 6/12 Core/Thread and 12MB cache EACH... so you put those two in, it'll be a whopping 12-core processor and 24MB cache.. @.@

Fill all the memory slots with Corsair Dominator GT 4GB DDR3 and u'll get a 48 GB computer RAM.

Fill the two 6 Gbps SATA slots with 256 GB SSD each and u'll get a 512 GB main superspeed storage.

A question tho, if u put 4-way SLI GPU and no X-Fi, then u'll have awesome graphics with shit sound?

  • Did anyone else see the sticker fly in front of the camera at 4:00

  • do cooler master haf 932 or haf X can support this one ?

  • @eyadkalaji Discussions in forums lead to a no...

  • Altough this mobo is the best available, after 4-5 years will be useless.

  • @ApoChosen1 Well, what else do you expect from computers?

  • . ...hurts a little bit knowing the new workstation I wanna build is a year old already.

    .

    .

at the same time I get to see peoples benchmarks :p

  • the sticker got blown away when he put the manual back in! *PANIC*!!!!

  • 4:17 chills :)

  • Would it be possible to use TWO Corsair H50 water coolers, if you had 2 Xeons?

  • @1981z28camaro Yes, It's possible.

  • @jordan010203 hmm, cool, but I would probably want something better if I were getting 2 Xeons, lol

I can never figure out the name of some of the watercoolers people use

  • @1981z28camaro You can use the 2 xeons with corsair Hydro series with no problem. BUT, If you'll get that monsters, I think you can buy a REAL watercooling system.

Remember: the H50 was made for the "high end AIRCOOLING market" :)

  • @jordan010203 thanks for the info :-)

What would you recommend for a cooling system?

  • @1981z28camaro buy the Swiftech H20-220 Ultima XT CPU liquid cooling kit

  • @jordan010203 thanks :-), is it pretty good then?

  • @1981z28camaro yes, it's a REAL LIQUID COOLING!

  • @jordan010203 nice, thanks!, is there anything better tho? (out of curiosity)

  • @1zCF Thumbs up if you think 1zCF is stupid :)

  • @jordan010203 thumbs up to STFU this random.

  • Do the PCIe slots support cards other than graphics cards? I've heard that some Motherboards have BIOSes that only support graphics cards in the PCI-e X16 slots.

  • does this one works with 2 dekstop i7 cpu's ?

  • @morgorth3242 Nope, only Xeon CPUs. I know a guy on the EVGA forums that actually bought two i7-980Xs for this mobo and was wondering why it wouldn't post. Someone had to tell him that he wasted $2000 on CPUs that wouldn't work in there. Sheesh, bad research for sure.

  • @Trubyd44 and single ?

  • @morgorth3242 you've got to use 2 CPU'S

  • @Trubyd44 thats brill.... just shows how important it is to do some research first.

  • @Trubyd44 it can have one of them theres a switch for it

  • @Trubyd44 oops if that happened for me then i will suicide

  • @Trubyd44 . ...ouch,,

    .

    .

    .

  • emm is there even case for this? I didn't find :/

  • @pannupoo Very few. Mountain Mods has some, and a modified Corsair Obsidian 700D / 800D can be used. It can be bought from performance-pcsdotcom.

  • @Trubyd44 Thanks :)

  • @Trubyd44 what abouth Lian Li pc2000 ?

  • @pannupoo Lian-Li PC-V2120

  • @sixequalszero 1 problem, you cant put a GPU that takes 2 expansion slots

    ex: GeForce GTX 590

  • @pannupoo Cubitek TANK FTW

  • man i just found out that my laptop kicks ass on playing vids in 720p and 1080p.

  • You can't fit anything in between so whats the worry?

  • It's insane that this board is cheaper than just one X5650! :( (here in Australia...)

  • you could Rule The World from your desk with that thing.....whaaaaaaaaat Imagen that thing all maxed out...going to need your own nuclear power plant just to turn it on...INSANE....

  • I can't find this board anywhere in the uk! :(

  • @seanhawkins09 It's out of stock overhere in a lot of places too, but is available. If you seriously want it, I can hook you up for a tiny fee. :) Let me know.

  • @seanhawkins09 overclockers.

  • @seanhawkins09 go on overclockers.co.uk there 4 in stock

  • i got that i got everything i ever wanted

  • the fans of coarse turns...

  • Depth = width? Heigpth = what! (but you probably mean length right?). Sorry not judging, things are done slightly different in America so is that how you guys say width and length?

  • @Skeleten Depth would be length in my description. Depth of the motherboard is the same thing as when measuring a computer case. You have height, width and depth. There is no length when giving dimensions on a computer case. You may be right that it is a regional difference though.

  • hi will the sr2 support w5350 with a new bios drop i know it can i7 due to qpi not on w series. i went for this mobo due to gigabyte ud9 = £460 sr2=£405 and love the sr2 colour and dual cpu , and best of all is future upgardes as i wont be buying a new pc for another 4-5yrs hopefully by then my pc should be able to talk to me (hal900) ;)

  • @rdt1970 I am not 100% sure...officially it's only 5500 and 5600 Xeons, but my gut feeling is that it'll work.

  • @Trubyd44 hi mate thanks for that do you know if sr2 will fit inside thermaltake armor+ vh6000

  • @rdt1970 nope, it only fits in the Lian Li PC-P80 and the Mountain Mods Cases.

  • @Trubyd44

    15inches long?

no case supports that! not even my HAF x!

  • @BKsMassive The Lian Li P80 supports it with minor modifications.

  • @Trubyd44 what about the corsair 800d?

  • @ulgl1234 I sold it.

  • can this motherboard support two intel core i7 extreme

  • @lacarretadelamuerte No, only Xeons.

  • i want this boad £405 from evga yet gigabyte ud9 they want £470 ?? for their effort

    how do i get it

  • x16 slots like now like wow. This is my dream board, along with 4x16 GTX480's. Crazy and insane...in saying that does this TRUEly do x16 slots x4

  • @RedBarron14 Yep...if you put them in the 1, 3, 5, and 7 slots and no other slots populated...true 16x x 4!!!

  • Are you sure about the x16/x8 thing? I thought it split the pair into x8/x8.

  • @apache249 I am abosolutely sure. ....remember, there is 7 PCIe slots on this board, so I don't know what you mean by 'split.' My explaination in this review about lanes is correct though.

  • 4:00 - I'll save that for later hahaha.

  • @fingerboy18

    sticker owned

  • Damn man, your always gettings things I'm thinking about lol. Just now I was like, why not get a Lian Li V2120 that will support the SR-2. Now I'm thinking, is the Core i7 based Xeons any good? Well you've answered that with the Cinebench vid xD

  • If your still looking for the ecp chip watch trubitars video, in the manual it has a not that you must register the mobo and when the ecp becomes availible it will be shipped to you for free

  • @splice247 If you watch later in that video...I find the paper and figure it out. Thanks!

  • its really wast of money unless making movies or games or running a server for a big lan center... 2 CPU does not improve the 4 way sli and intel 980x 4.4Ghz is over kill for the 4 way sli 480s

  • @NoxeN2008 Well, like I've said many, many times before...this is a hobby and I didn't get into building computers for the investment potential. :)

  • @Trubyd44 Lol, investment potential. I like you

  • @pika198 You'd be surprised how much I get those type of comments. They say it's a waste of money and that it's silly to have...but then they looked for the video in the first place. Then you have some that live to leave negative comments for everyone and everything.

  • @Trubyd44 In my opinion it is a hobby and whatever makes you happy. I personally have an SR-2 in transit myself. People spend $2,000 on a set of wheels for their car, what was achieved? Nothing really, but they enjoyed working on their car. I can build the "Ferrari" of computers for $5,000-$6,000, but I know I will never be able to afford a Ferrari.

  • @pika198 Thanks for your support! :D

  • @Trubyd44 Anytime mate, just don't cook any eggs or bacon with those gtx 480's ^_^

  • @Trubyd44 Also, the whole waste of money, I don't really think so. These type of machines last years, but the people who say it was a waste of money are the people who buy $1,000-$1,500 machines and upgrade every 8-12 months. They end up losing more money. I buy a 980x, it will be even with the new Sandy Bridge CPU's. However the $300-400 i7 will be worthless, thus now someone needs to buy another $300-400 CPU. Right there the cost is the same. Mid ranged will always be the middle, highend lasts

  • @pika198 Mid ranged goes down to low end, High end goes to low end (10-15% drop compared to the latest high end hardware). The high end hardware will always retain it's value more then a mid ranged item. A 4870 x2 still sells easily, but a 4870 or 4890 is a major loss.

  • @NoxeN2008 Look, some people hobbys are buying exclusive cars, motorbikes, some collect Stamps( yes they can be very expensive), and some are building computers for Pleasure, because they love to see new capabilities of such components, they love technology improvement, etc ect. With your statement you clearly dont understand hobby at all. When he is making money, and have enough to spare for what he likes to do in his free time, then be it, it is no one concern. Keep it up Trubyd ;)

  • @CutingTheEdge Whew! THANK YOU! :)

  • @Trubyd44 Youre welcome ;), oh and that other video w/ cine bech, man that software was like: Woh, a wait? What the hell? How am i gonna test this :D

  • DUDE NO WAY NO WAY!!!.... FUCKEN AWESOME!!

  • what case will u be putting this in

  • @mbhullar94 The Mountain Mods U2-UFO with the specially made HPTX motherboard tray.

  • sex

  • @Fir3Man2009 You are exactly right. The X5680s are selling for ~$1700 on newegg right now.

  • Is this good for gaming, 2x Xenons?

  • @dyslecix We'll see...but the XEONs won't be any worse then an i7...it should be better in fact with more cores. I suspect it won't be much gain either...but testing to follow.

  • True they say 8x and 16x wont hinder preformance.

  • @EliteComputerBuilds Yeah, that is right...I will be able to test that too.

  • It's true that with 8x speed you only lose 2-5% performance compared to x16 so I wouldn't even think about it. ;)

  • @KapteinFruit EVGA reports 2-3%, but I'll be able to test that.

  • I won a computer off of Tiger Direct containing the motherboard. It might not seem like I'm happy..cuz I'm too shocked. 24GB of RAM, 12 cores (2x 6 Core Xeon), BLU RAY DVD Drive, 3 LCDs ready for NVIDIA 3D, 3D Glasses, 4x NVIDIA GTX 485 1GB RAM..and this mobo. I'm trying to figure out how to port the hackintosh to this :D

  • @krishnapathak1 You need to make a video of it and put it up on YouTube if you won that type of a computer!!! Don't put apple OS on it please. :)

  • @Trubyd44 I'm 12..I don't have a camera. And of course I'll put Apple OS, it's the bomb diggity! Lol! I'll have it dual booting with Windows :D

  • why xeons and not 980xs????

  • @mrmichaelmw 980x is not dual cpu compatible..

  • @cssful Thanks cssful!

  • @mrmichaelmw Thanks cssful!

  • @mrmichaelmw as i have found out with the help from the guys at watercoolinguk.co.uk have stated xeon has 2 link qpi, where the 980 only has 1 and it needs 2 to run on the dual boards sadly.

  • @mrmichaelmw as i have found out with the help from the guys at watercoolinguk.co.uk have stated xeon has 2 link qpi, where the 980 only has 1 and it needs 2 to run on the dual boards sadly.

  • @Mathewmartialart EXACTLY correct!!! Sorry. :(

  • @Trubyd44 hey no reason to say sorry, were all learnign with this new technology. im just jelous of you havign the board lol . would be a deam to have this and 2 xeons on it with 48gb memory and some quadro gpu's

  • thats a pretty tiny mobo

    is it micro atx??

    :P

  • @urbanshaft hehe, I know!
