I always loved this song and Gene Cotton is one of my all time favorite singer songwriter musicians!!Thanks for sharing this beautiful video full of nature!!
Great song, indeed! I just heard it this past weekend on American Top 40: The 70s. Like taratupa73, I also think this song deserved a higher peak than #23. Should have at least hit the Top Ten - but frankly, unless you were the Bee Gees back in 1978, you were pretty much at the mercy of the pop radio audience.
On a more positive note, however, the song did peak at #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
Trying to find "Like A Sunday In Salem" (The Amos and Andy Song) by Gene Cotton. If anyone has it please download. It is a great song but extremely hard to find.
been hearing this song in my head for over 30 years now and just now found it again. thank you for posting it. such a lovely little song with beautiful lyrics
7 weeks on the chart, back in the spring of '78, and peaked at only 23. Unusual for such a good song that I seem to remember got quite a bit of airplay. Pretty song, and good memories. And, I had no idea that Gene Cotton was from Columbus, just about 40 miles up the road from me, here in Marion.
I heard this song playing in a store the other day and it made me stop because I haven't heard this song since the 80s, I think! So many old songs are overplayed on the radio. Why do we never hear this one? It's not available on iTunes either. :o(
im still waiting for some good new music i havent heard any yet these old tunes were the best the new music has being going down hill it hasnt recovered yet i guss i duno i just hope they dont try to destroy all the old tune to make way for this new shit

Spring & Summer of '77, I loved --LOVED- this song, & I'm proud to say I still have my 45 record. Gene , GBY & THX for this wonderful vocal. Wolfsky9 , 64 y/o
Last time I heard this song was in the 80's and hadn't heard it since. I've been looking for this song ever since. Never knew what the name of the song was or who the artist was. Great song if enjoy love ballads. Think I have every song from the seventies except this one. Thank you so much for posting!!!!!!!!
Bitter sweet song for me,back in the 1970s i was in love with a girl that i should have married, but we were just too young.looking back it would have been the right decision,i miss you Sharon wherever you are????????
I was a DJ in a little town in eastern Oregon in '78, and this was always a song I loved to play just so I could hear it again! Also, LeBlanc and Carr had a song at this time, Falling, and it's another great song. So glad to hear this once again.
Great song, you wont here music like this today because nobody has the experiance and has gone throught the pain of deep love in a relationship with a man and a women,no phone calls, stupid insecure text messanging or dumbass e-mails,just a real man singing his heart out about a women that he loves and the reality of life.
I was in the store last night when this song came on. It was like an old friend I hadn't seen in years, one I missed terribly and was so glad to see again.
I fell in love with this song, the very 1st time I heard it, & yet, as we know, it has -sadly--become a lost, " Late 70's Classic". Timeless, & beautifully sung. Wolfsky9
Summer, '78; what a great, great song this is! I still have my original 45, & I cherish it. This is music, & I fear, we'll never--ever--hear the likes of this, ever again. Thank-you Gene for singing this timeless classic. Wolfsky9, 63 y/o, & The Memories are Forever.
I'm glad someone still remembers the great songs from that summer....not just the BeeGees disco crap and Grease, but the other songs as well. It was great time to listen to the radio...
Well said! There was a certain quality to much of the pop music of those days that transended generations and was always t5imeless- always fresh sounding. Even the sad songs had some sort of a bittersweet optimism that is totally lacking today....
Funny I always thought this was England dan and John Ford Coley! It sure has that feel to it. Sad music now days sounds nothing like it did back then!
Another one of those wonderful late 70's gems which has slipped into oblivion. This one deserved a far better fate than it recieved. Thanks for posting this great lost oldie!
