Now this is good Christian music. It's good music period. I've got to admit I'm not a big fan of alot of CCM. But this is authentic and beautiful - truly Spirit-filled. Most of my favorite "Christian" music is on secular labels. Thank you Ben Harper. Thank you Jesus.
Is this sung with Ladysmith Black Mambazo (who also featured in Paul Simon's Graceland album)? It has to be them - such a distinctive sound. What a sublime piece of music.
beautiful. everytime i hear of news where people, especially children die without given the chance to walk their roads i pray to God "i hope it is worth it for these unfortunate souls. then i ask my self, are they unfortunate, or are they in heaven right now playing their golden violins?
Siobhan: If true capitolism came to these places these people would have more oppurtunity. If a person is always waiting for another to bring him up and put him on he gives up his freedom. People need oppurtunity and education and health then it is up to them.
Ummm. What is Harper's original version, and where can I find it? To my knowledge this is Ben's original? I hadn't heard any version prior to this one. That is nearly impossible, as I own the man's entire catalog and then some.
@musicis4losers it is on diamonds on the inside, also a more gospel version on his album with the blind boys of alabama, this is with lady blacksmith mambazo
Actually this version was published on "Diamonds on the Inside" by Ben Harper featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo, bless there beautiful voices. I only know some live version that's different but to me this seems the original - Simply enjoy it

The original is on There Will Be a Light. It has a good guitar riff threw out it but the backing vocals on this version make it a better song.
