Thing is, what made Staark #1 over Barragan? There had to be some way to fight him besides giving him his own aging. If massive firepower is the way to go, Ulquiorra's second form might have pulled it out.

Starrk is highly perceptive and is read an opponent's style of combat within seconds of seeing it as when he fought against Shunsui, able to decipher his way of fighting within a very short timespan.
@joegt123 He was even able to predict his Flash Step methods, knowing exactly when and where he would reappear. Not only that, but he was able to figure out Sogyo no Kotowari's energy redirection ability within only a few tries as well as the mechanisms behind it.
Ulquiorra's Segunda Etapa couldn't come close to defeating Barragan in Ressurrecion. Barragan made it very clear that everything fades in time, especially energy, which was clearly evident in him countering kido.
@joegt123 Lanza del Relampago won't be able to reach Barragan with his time dilation ability unless he risks losing an arm, which he won't be able to regenerate since it was aged and not blown off. If you wanna talk about power, Starrk outclasses Ulquiorra in the Cero department, since he can fire his in an instant without needing to move an inch plus it's far more powerful. With his teleportation-like Sonido, Starrk can easily score in a free hit with a Cero at point blank range.

The numbers of arrancar 1-10 or 0-9 if you prefer, indicate their level of reiatsu. It does not translate into battle prowess, intelligence, abilities, or any other variables in a fight.
Think, Kenpachi defeated Noitra, but he probably would have folded against Zommari. Likewise Byakuya would have had a harder time against Noitra.
Take Halibel, she was less effective because of her opponent, not due to weakness on her part. Toshiro's zanpakuto's attributes tipped the battle to him.
yammy can't be the strongest because he is allowed to release his ressurection inside los noches. espada 4 and higher aren't allowed because it might destory los noches. if yammy was really more powerful than 4 and higher espada he would of had to leave los noches. by the way i only know up until where the anime is right now.
Ulquiorra was the strongest Espada, thats been pretty much proved by how easy the 4 ranked higher than Ulqu died. Ulqu was the only Espada who was killed by "Hichigo" out of the whole Arrancar episodes. If your only following the anime I feel sorry for you thinkin Yami is stronger then Ulqu, Stark wasn't even near Ulqu in strength or speed. Halibel sucked. King Of Hueco Mundo sucked..owned by the fat "Vizard"

@lolfunvidsman i couldn't agree with you more. ulquiorra is the strongest and you can tell by the opponents they fight. hallibel was fighting toushiro who isn't as strong as ichigo. i do think that barragan is about at ulquiorra's level though. i haven't really seen starkk fight but shunsui said that starkk could of killed him if he had tried.
yammy is only temporarily classed as the strongest espadda because he can conserve his reiatsu...by eating and sleeping loads... think about it. his strength isnt consistant. so hes not the 'strongest' >_> sure he could fight someone and own them...and maybe the next guy...and maybe the next 100 but after that his reiatsu would be depleted and his base level would be naff. at which point some1 like ichigo would cut off his arm without a seconds thought...oh wait...

Wow you guys are blind as fuck. Ulquiorra is only number 4 like he should be, there's no way he could have taken Shunsui by himself. The only reason shunsui didn't use his bankai is because he had backup, and remember that Shunsui broke Aizen's shield when a new masked Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho coudnt.

@tannermasters216 Yammi is also the only arrancar whose number changes. Read the Manga if you're gonna call people out, since it's like 50+ chapters ahead of the anime even without the fillers.
When Yammi releases his sword he turns into arrancar #0 as mentioned a couple days ago by others here.

Agreed; at the very least Ulquiorra was confident that Aizen didn't know about it. Which makes one wonder if his second form made him the strongest espada
However, Soifon's bankai was almost strong enough to kill Barragan. Ulquiorra's Lanza del Relámpago explosion is fucking enormous in comparison; I feel like the raw energy it produces would be too great for Barragan's time shield to negate. If hit by Death Breath, he could always just rip a leg or arm off and regenerate it (as long as he was not hit somewhere fatal).
I do think that Stark or Ulquiorra being stronger is a tough call. They both have fast movement and powerful cero attacks. Neither can take an awful lot of blows without dying. I feel like the lance from Ulquiorra would kill Stark, but also that Stark's wolves would rape Ulquiorra at the same time.
haha that is kind of lame though (but true)! as soon as the main character almost gets killed his seemingly limitless hollow strength activates and no one can fuck with him.
Yammy might have the most raw energy (to be determined still) but his large form makes his movements slow and limited, and his stupidity leaves him at a disadvantage to more cunning enemies.
@tsounamis8 I realize that the picture the author included when Aizen mentioned Ichigo's fight with Ulquiorra seemed to suggest that Aizen knew about Ulquiorra's second form. However, the way Aizen phrases it, he seems uncertain as to how Ichigo gained greater power; "You somehow gained even greater power in your fight with Ulquiorra" which to me indicates he didn't think Ulquiorra had the strength to push Ichigo to a new level.
Aizen clearly did know about it though, because he planned for Ichigo to fight Ulquiorra from the beginning to gain that new mask and power. Read the manga chapter where Ichigo talks with Aizen it shows that he clearly knew about Ulqui's release.
@yogurtman321 Nothing Aizen says in that chapter hints that he knew about Ulquiorra's second release. There is a picture of Ulquiorra's second release for the benefit of the reader to realize Ichigo became stronger because of it. That doesn't mean AIzen knew about it. Aizen DID plan for them to fight. That's all that is suggested. Nothing else.

@Resgmix no Yammy is not the strongest Espada. Starrk is the Primera which mean he is the leader and the strongest, Yammy being "zero" was a special rank........in other words him being zero meant he was the last line of defense for Las Noches......nothing more

The numbers of arrancar 1-10 or 0-9 if you prefer, indicate their level of reiatsu. It does not translate into battle prowess, intelligence, abilities, or any other variables in a fight.
Think, Kenpachi defeated Noitra, but he probably would have folded against Zommari. Likewise Byakuya would have had a harder time against Noitra.
Take Halibel, she was less effective because of her opponent, not due to weakness on her part. Toshiro's zanpakuto's attributes tipped the battle to him.

yammy can't be the strongest because he is allowed to release his ressurection inside los noches. espada 4 and higher aren't allowed because it might destory los noches. if yammy was really more powerful than 4 and higher espada he would of had to leave los noches. by the way i only know up until where the anime is right now.

Ulquiorra was the strongest Espada, thats been pretty much proved by how easy the 4 ranked higher than Ulqu died. Ulqu was the only Espada who was killed by "Hichigo" out of the whole Arrancar episodes. If your only following the anime I feel sorry for you thinkin Yami is stronger then Ulqu, Stark wasn't even near Ulqu in strength or speed. Halibel sucked. King Of Hueco Mundo sucked..owned by the fat "Vizard"
Seeing none of the other Espada brought "Hichigo" out, safe to say Ulqu was strongest

@lolfunvidsman i couldn't agree with you more. ulquiorra is the strongest and you can tell by the opponents they fight. hallibel was fighting toushiro who isn't as strong as ichigo. i do think that barragan is about at ulquiorra's level though. i haven't really seen starkk fight but shunsui said that starkk could of killed him if he had tried.

yammy is only temporarily classed as the strongest espadda because he can conserve his reiatsu...by eating and sleeping loads... think about it. his strength isnt consistant. so hes not the 'strongest' >_> sure he could fight someone and own them...and maybe the next guy...and maybe the next 100 but after that his reiatsu would be depleted and his base level would be naff. at which point some1 like ichigo would cut off his arm without a seconds thought...oh wait...

Wow you guys are blind as fuck. Ulquiorra is only number 4 like he should be, there's no way he could have taken Shunsui by himself. The only reason shunsui didn't use his bankai is because he had backup, and remember that Shunsui broke Aizen's shield when a new masked Ichigo's Getsuga Tensho coudnt.

Cyoto Starrk wasn't even strong enougth to make Shunsui release his Bankai..he was #1 and got killed by a fucking shikai XD...and Halibel was themost useless one of the Top Espada, in the End getting killed by Aizen XD...yeah...and let's not talk about Ichigo vs Ulquiorra. However, Soifon's bankai was almost strong enough to kill Barragan. Ulquiorra's Lanza del Relámpago explosion is fucking enormous in comparison; I feel like the raw energy it produces would be too great for Barragan's time shield to negate. If hit by Death Breath, he could always just rip a leg or arm off and regenerate it (as long as he was not hit somewhere fatal).

I do think that Stark or Ulquiorra being stronger is a tough call. They both have fast movement and powerful cero attacks. Neither can take an awful lot of blows without dying. I feel like the lance from Ulquiorra would kill Stark, but also that Stark's wolves would rape Ulquiorra at the same time.

@tsounamis8 I realize that the picture the author included when Aizen mentioned Ichigo's fight with Ulquiorra seemed to suggest that Aizen knew about Ulquiorra's second form. However, the way Aizen phrases it, he seems uncertain as to how Ichigo gained greater power; "You somehow gained even greater power in your fight with Ulquiorra" which to me indicates he didn't think Ulquiorra had the strength to push Ichigo to a new level.

Aizen clearly did know about it though, because he planned for Ichigo to fight Ulquiorra from the beginning to gain that new mask and power. Read the manga chapter where Ichigo talks with Aizen it shows that he clearly knew about Ulqui's release.

There is a picture of Ulquiorra's second release for the benefit of the reader to realize Ichigo became stronger because of it. That doesn't mean AIzen knew about it. Aizen DID plan for them to fight. That's all that is suggested. Nothing else.

@Resgmix no Yammy is not the strongest Espada. Starrk is the Primera which mean he is the leader and the strongest, Yammy being "zero" was a special rank........in other words him being zero meant he was the last line of defense for Las Noches......nothing more
