If RAAF wish to replace F-111 for its maritime strike capability, Su-30/35 series are indeed a very good choice especially couple with the supersonic antiship missiles. But it would suffer from system integration with existing RAAF system, and relatively poor engine durability. Personally, I would consider EF-2000 trench 2 variant the best available air control/defense fighter couple with APAR and BVRAAM. One question is what's the RAAF current or future AWACs?

And no modle Mig has ever EVER been able to outmanuver the F-class fighters. Not even the Russians believe that rediculious statement. The F-15 and up are divided into three sections that can be manuvered to different angles giving it a tighter turn radius than any other aircraft.
Also the Mig most certainly does NOT have a radar that can detect stealth craft. Not even the Russians claim this so please show me where you got that info. If they had a radar to detect it than they would have to know how it worked first and therefore would have built one of their own already.
The Mig-35 has infared sensors so they can see stealth aircraft and lock on to them in combat but they have no way to detect them long range.

High speed allows you to cover more area or combat patrol per sortie, high speed allows you to response to ground unit's for air support. faster and to interdict enemy's ground movement more effectively. As for SAM, high speed decrease your exposure to ground air radar and to escape it's coverage before the missile's impact.

If RAAF wish to replace F-111 for its maritime strike capability, Su-30/35 series are indeed a very good choice especially couple with the supersonic antiship missiles. But it would suffer from system integration with existing RAAF system, and relatively poor engine durability. Personally, I would consider EF-2000 trench 2 variant the best available air control/defense fighter couple with APAR and BVRAAM. One question is what's the RAAF current or future AWACs?

ya... check it out. due to low budget they only have 12 SU-30 and 12 SU-35.
SU-37 is a tech demonstrator only.
the rest are (168) old Mig 29 and (400+) old SU-27 from soviet era that needs upgrades which they cant do as well at this time due to low military budget. but they plan upgrading them and building more SU-30 and SU-35 in the future.

Also the Mig most certainly does NOT have a radar that can detect stealth craft. Not even the Russians claim this so please show me where you got that info. If they had a radar to detect it than they would have to know how it worked first and therefore would have built one of their own already.
The Mig-35 has infared sensors so they can see stealth aircraft and lock on to them in combat but they have no way to detect them long range.

To clarify some earlier statements, what I ment was all generations of "F" ckass aircraft could beat the Su-27 exept for the F-15 (which the Su was designed to counter). I don't know this to be a fact because there hasn't been a conflict between Russian made and American aircraft since the Balkins, I'm simply assuming because F-16 through 21 were designed long after the Su-27 and the US has been eahead of the tech curve.

@YZach It does matter, High speed allows you to engage and disengage a dogfight. High speed allows you to cover more area or combat patrol per sortie, high speed allows you to response to ground unit's for air support. faster and to interdict enemy's ground movement more effectively. As for SAM, high speed decrease your exposure to ground air radar and to escape it's coverage before the missile's impact.

And Russian designed and supllied weapons that went to Vietnam (through China of course) forced the the USA to pull-out. Its not always the weapons, but how well you use them.

Russia will never again be recognized as a World Power to any degree. And as for our "Junk Weapons". More than 20 years in sandy desert conditions and they STILL WORK. SUCK IT RUSSIA. Take more showers - country full of scuzzy people.

Russia is not trash, but a country that has had to overcome continuous military, political, and economic problems, which will leave her stronger in the end... not weaker. Also, Russia has the most widely exported weaponry systems to date (that are still in circulation). The AK-47 remains the most effecient and widely traded rifle on the international market. Oh yeah, and re-think your prejudice views before you label people "scuzzy"... please.

Did you just say, along with your poor grammar and over used cuss words, that NATO doesnt sell weaponry? Three of the worlds five largest arms providers are NATO members (USA, UK, and Germany). Also, the USA is the largest single provide of weaponry to the world's developing countries.

I Understand that part about the AK's, but you still have'nt answered my question about how NATO "dont," as you put it. And if someone didnt sell the weaponry another country with the next cheapest arsenal would. Russia sells so many weapons, including the AK-47, because they have mass stockpiles left from the USSR. And just because you see a "terrorist" with an AK, doesnt mean that the Russian Govt. called them in and handed them out to "anyone," as you put, one by one.

So far the Russian army has performed poorly in Afghanistan and Chechnya. Russian soldiers are begging for money on the streets of Moscow, I do not consider that being the BEST.
USA may not have won the Vietnam war, but now the Vietnamese are longing for trade with the US. Communism has failed, I consider that an American victory.

The point is.. Do we need weapons to live free? NO . Why we must protect ourselves from our own kind? Why do we need nukes ? Weapons doesnt give u freedom. Weapons control you.
