The reason people say she sounds black is because is because she has a soulful scream to her voice, you know James Brown, Mary J Blige, Anthony Hamilton and Ray Charles. Most White women dont have that kind of sound unless they were raised in the south where that music is played as much as the popy kind of shit you hear around LA, but better. She has a unique sound coming from a white woman, not that its bad, just that most white female singers dont have that grungy soulful feel.
