Very good performance, but Atlanta Audio Society is wrong for comparing him to Heifetz. There are too many cracks in his sound and the tone quality is not the same. It's alright though. Heifetz was literally perfect at everything. No one can compare :)
My feeling is whoever could play and conduct with such refinement would do better without a conductor....besides it looks like he is the conductor of this student ensemble. I suggest you watch the Grieg or Mozart (same ensemble/conductor)
This is proper 19th century performance practice in the chamber orchestra setting going back from Spohr to Mozart and Bach. They all conducted their performances while playing. Btw, the bow was a precursor of the baton.
