Apples and oranges. They are 2 completely different bands. With Di'anno they where still so raw, super talented but still almost primitive. The songs are great but with Bruce the band moved on to become incredibly technically proficient. The songs went from loud angst ridden fun to EPIC metal. It's a little like comparing The Ramones to Queensryche. LOL ok I got carried away there but it illustrates my point.

This is what makes maiden . Pure,raw chemistry that can't be catagorized .When this ended so did the soul of the band. I still respect the musicianship that came afterwards but let's face it , once Di'anno and Clive were gone they lost their edge and traded it in for commercial success. I love hearing this style of Maiden, Di'anno's voice is so unique. Although it seems like it all eventually caught up with him and he can no longer reproduce this raw sound. Iron Maiden would never have lasted as long as they have if they didn't get Bruce, he has a style which he is able to maintain for years and it doesn't damage his vocals. Both great in their respective times and both have been great assets for the band!

wow..lots of people hating on Bruce..first of all he didn't have a hand in ousting Paul..Paul had a great voice to pull off the first 2 albums,which had a punk feel to it,but he wasn't going to fit in Maiden's heavier sound and darker themed lyrics of the future albums..Maiden had to cancel gigs 'cos of Paul's inability and lack of interest at times..He had a big problem with alcohol and cocaine..For an immensely talented and ambitious upcoming band,he was a hindrance rather than a help
