Well,I don't know what the answer is. I was for socialised medicine. The cost of inshurance is outrageous.Still a friend who has English citzenship. He's 74 and needed prostate surgury. He couldn't afford to have that done here so he went to England. He's been there three months now and still has no surgery. He's wearing a cathetor and a bag on his leg. What a nightmare.
@jsf333 He's in the cue. That's all I know. As of now, he still hasn't had his surgery. While he was still here he went to the hospital. They put in the catheter and told him he was to far gone for any drug to have an effect on his condition. In England they said the drugs might work so they gave him something to shrink his prostate. That process took 2mos. and didn't work. Then he was put in the surgery cue on a non critical basis. That's where he still is.
Instead of politicians lying, perhaps guy in video should talk about something he's even more aware of - how clowns posting videos on websites lie to everyone. This guy absolutely worships the Democrats, posting a long stream of videos promoting that party's left-wing agenda. Little effort to be honest, unbiased, or even knowledgeable. However, he has his fans, evidently more ignorant than him, seemingly eager to eat up the endless garbage spewed from his mouth.
I'll support healthcare reform as long as politicians have exactly the same coverage as the rest of us. Other than that, I will not be compelled to contract with anyone for insurance.
if we arent the best, then why do people from all over the world, who can go anywhere in the world for healthcare, go to the United States? because it is the best. yes its expensive and no not everyone can afford it. btw you put up the same arguments as the majority of people on Fox. "oh yeah, theyre getting money from this person, thats why they want to do this and that." its the same shit as Glen Beck.
Hey turk the jerk. Did you go to college, where it you get the knowledge to speak here about anything. The only thing you do is name call and make fun of people. I bet you were a bully in Muslim school.
The comment about the United States having the best health care is in reference to the US having the best hospitals, best doctors, nurses, etc. Unfortunately at the end of the day the tax payer ends up paying for uninsured people's healthcare costs from the ER.
Another problem, the vast majority of Americans don't take care of themselves, don't get regular check ups so either way the country wont have cheap accessible healthcare for all Americans unless we change our way of life.
Another thing, it is illegal to turn anyone away in an emergency from any hospital or urgent care center in this country. Also, if you have lost your job or are indigent, every state has medical coverage. Also, there are hundreds and thousands of donors to hosp, etc to cover those who cannot pay. We do not need a huge gov run sys. We need a moderate plan for catastrophic coverage and an overhaul of ins rules. Everyone else should pay for own ins.
@mvies77 Ok I have minimal health coverage ok. What would happen if a truck ran me down, I was rushed to the hospital, and the ER brought me back to life? Would the doctors say, 'Welcome back, but your insurance company would not pay up.' Give me the keys to your house and car cos you owe us 250 million dollars. Seriously, is that how the system works? W@ould be in debt forever all b ecause some surgeon saved my life. Bear in mind, I never chose to see the ER. Would I still have to pay?
@pluto4847 You are being facetious but here is my answer. You can always refuse care and freely leave. They do not provide care based on your insurance in the ER. Finally, there are many ways that your med bill can be paid if you do not have the means. I have personally experienced this and did not go into lifelong debt. State, Fed and philanthropic funds are given to those in need and catastrophic cases.
They want to splurge? They come here to splurge? What are you talking about? This healthcare bill is too expensive, unwieldy, destructive and we start paying immediately for a bill that does not go into effect until 2012. Socialized med does not work. We need to start over and streamline this care. Better yet, let each state form a plan and allow interstate insurance coverage. Back room politics, bribes, it all smells.
Its not republican or democrat everyone. There is something wrong with our society when we have to rely on the government to take care of us. We should be reaching out to each other for support. Go start a community garden, those who have jobs give what you can to those in need. We need to change our attitudes and think creatively. The politicians up there don't give two shits about your suffering.
We're ranked 37 by the WHO because our life expectancy is depressed by homicide rates driven by a very active drug underground. You can have the greatest health care in the world - and WE DO, but that doesn't stop people from shooting each other. The low birth survival rate includes women who don't seek early medical care. You're conflating health insurance with health care, they ARE NOT THE SAME.
When are people going to realize that RICH PEOPLE don't give a fuck about you. They don't care about you, at all. It's really hard to get rich in the first place if you do care about other people. They'll use any thing, smoke screens, double talk, devide & conquer, terrorism, manipulation of politics and media, to get what they want. You know why ? Because they don't care about you ! You are human capital, something that can be exploited, just cattle to these people.
Heres the Democrat, not-so-secret, strategy on health care...
Ram it down America's throat because we know whats best and pay off anyone who wont vote for the bill with taxpayer dollars. And I know we promised transparency but screw them, and CSPAN. We'll do it secretly behind closed doors because they cant do anything about it.
The life expectancy of Europe and Canada may be higher, but it is not because of socialized medicine. That's spin.
You can actually go back and compare the life expectancy of Europe and Canada to ours before they adopted a socialized system, and find that they still had a higher life expectancy.
Actually, the opposite is true. After they adopted a socialized system the life expectancy gap between our countries shrank.
Actually thats not entirely true, based on infoplease statistics prior to 1940 the US had a higher life expectancy than Great Britain, we overtook the US around 1955 and it's really only since 1984 that the US really started to catch up, intrestingly around 1984 we had a Conservative government who made harsh budget cuts and privatized parts of the NHS.
who is this tyt jack off. he sounds like a child that has done something wrong and is lying to his mom about it. I love the way people nowadays just blurt out shit and don't back it up. I wish all the corperations and rich people would go on strike in this country and see how long it takes these assholes like this guy to get there foot out of there mouths.
Even if the public option made any kind of sense, which it does not, but lets assume for a moment that it does. I would not support it simply on principal. We are a country founded on the idea of capitalism & the free market. The public option undermines everything that america was founded on. The liberals need to take the emotional argument out of the equation. Oh boo hoo, there are however many thousand uninsured americans. Who cares? That is not the issue here. American values are the issue.
it's obvious that this idiot has not looked at the actual ranking criteria put forth by the WHO! It sickens me how the libtards have adopted a sense of entitlement i this country.
Go ahead and take your government paid and run healthcare. Take everything they hand you, and the day you wake up a fucking slave to the monster you fed will be the day cosmic justice is served!
It's worth the ride to watch you stupid fucks crucify the only thing worth anything-freedom!
The republican strategy on health care is THEY DON'T HAVE ONE! This guy is a fucking idiot. How can we have "the finest health care system" in the world and we're ranked 37th amongst industrialized nations. Republicans simply don't give a shit about the health and lives of Americans and just want those lobbyist dollars to keep rolling in.
We're ranked 37 not because our quality is lower, but because our system is not 'fair'. The WHO factors in 'fairness' into ranking, in addition to quality.
And frankly our health care and insurance system is as costly as it is because of government interference.
never heard of the man in the video before,, but he is a fool. the poor who don't have insurance "45 million of them" need to get a job. Jobs need to stay here in America. Taking from the rich and giving to the poor is not the answer. The answer is work.
RyderSpearmann "liberty" what are you talking about. we in europe have far more liberties than you in the us and we have health insurance. what has on to do with the oher. This scarmongering tactics from the republican side is a joke. All of europe is laughing at this silly argument. You should watch some european news bbc for example to get a reality check and some sensible oppinions.
paddeee2 .... I know man .... somehow these people have been so brain washed by the right wing agenda they start believing FLAT OUT LIES..... it's truly sad were not all just together on health reform because it's so vital and so important to so many millions of Americans... the republicans really have NO argument .... so they just make up lies
The US is NOT ranked 37th in quality of care (you cite the WHO report). That is a lie.
The WHO ranked, in that same report, that the US "OA" (actual achievement) 15th in the world, and HALF of that ranking was based on "fairness" and universal access, which the US specifically does NOT attempt to achieve in the free market.
The US is ranked 1st in responsiveness, for example, so... so much for your "no statistics bear you out" comment.
Here. I'll dumb it down for you and help you use the internet for your intellectual advantage.
Go to that little bar up in the left hand corner near the 'Google' Box and type in these simple words: "U.S ranking in Healthcare"(i'd send you the link so you don't get lost, but youtube doesn't allow paste links).
Go to the first link labeled "The World Health Organization's ranking of the world's health systems" (The WHO you refer to). Leads to the report.
Oh Gee, I'm sorry I can't literally dumb it down for you so you can read the numbers and come up with how wrong you were on your own.
I should've suspected you'd just get butt-hurt when the words started proving you wrong; here let me limit your brain activity by reading the quote you so desperately need read to you like the fucking child you are, even though you 'read it before'.
[Paragraph 2 of the WHO Press release conference]
"The U. S. health system spends a higher portion of its gross domestic product than any other country but ranks 37 out of 191 countries according to its performance, the report finds."
"The World Health Report says the main failings of many health systems are: * Many health ministries focus on the public sector and often disregard the frequently much larger private sector health care. *In many countries, some if not most physicians work simultaneously for the public sector and in private practice. This means the public sector ends up subsidizing unofficial private practice.
*Many governments fail to prevent a "black market" in health, where widespread corruption, bribery, "moonlighting" and other illegal practices flourish. The black markets, which themselves are caused by malfunctioning health systems, and low income of health workers, further undermine those systems.
*Many health ministries fail to enforce regulations that they themselves have created or are supposed to implement in the public interest. "
Great, you can copy and paste. Congratulations... but that's not reading.
See, reading would mean that you understood that ranking quality of US healthcare in the WHO report would actually have some of these things called "words" to that effect.
Since you can't seem to find words that say that US healthcare quality ranks 37th, then you, Mr. cut and paste, are obviously still in diapers.
1) It's really refreshing to see all the 'little boy' 'child this' comments; how you don't have any time for this 'little kid' and then you spit out three comments: oh gee guess you do have time. Hypocrite fail. Boy, you sure do hurt my feelings mister big man. Dumbass.
2) "You can copy and paste, but that's not reading"
No shit Sherlock. I pasted them so YOU can try reading for the first time; don't be thrown off by your own unwillingness to be proven wrong
3)"Oh that's right, you are a child, and you can't even pronounce "issue" let alone track one and respond to it in an intelligent way. You don't even know what the ranking is *for*. 37 out of 191 in what way?"
Preventable Deaths By Country
Healthy Life Expectancy By Country
Health Performance Rank By Country
Total Health Expenditure as % of GDP

Those ways. Fucking idiot. Maybe if you followed directions and got to the report like the rest of us, you'd know that.
I TOLD HIM HE WAS LYING AGAIN AAAAAAND CALLED HIM A CHILD!
HE'S ALL LIKE "I CAN USE FACTS" BUT I SHOWED THAT BABY-FUCK BY NOT USING MINE!
AH HA!!! I BET HE'S ALL UPSET TOO, LITTLE BITCH! MUAHAHA! I WIN! CAUSE I CALLED HIM A BABY AND USED 'LOL'! LOL!"
This is you in a nutshell. I'm gonna go smoke some herb now, you come up with another amazing zinger while arguing a well-acknowledged 9 year old fact,i've got better things to do then listen to you shit yourself
By the way, before you being your next great 'debate fail', instead of arguing over the WHO report, which you've proven someone can recite word by word and you STILL won't believe it, why don't; you do a little search on the web about all the sources of news media who also reference our health care ranking as 37th?
L.A Times, New York Post, CSNBC, (past) White House Press Releases are just a few. Unless you think all those news outlets were ALSO lying (cause it proves you wrong.)?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh, and your media list...
Why the hell do you think that so many people criticize the mainstream media for being leftist? And as is always the case, the political left is decidedly anti-american... and it is easy to see, for when it is possible for th LA Times, the post, NBC, or even a liberal white house to use an inaccurate number that reflects poorly on America, you can be certain that they will choose that number. Always showing America in the worst possible light. a**holes.
Your problem is you throw a tantrum at people for not serving the words to you on a silver platter with a bendy straw with your Semen Shake, instead of looking for the facts like the rest of us are capable of doing. The fact that you're unable to even use the internet, the greatest information tool in history, to simply google up a 9 year old report that you've supposedly read is ridiculous. You're arguing that someone lied and that no one else uses facts, when you have NONE of your own.
And quit this fucking stupid mentality that the one with the most insults win.
You're arguing that someone lied over a well-established fact that can be simply googled in a second, that I can literally paste the words too on this site since I can't paste the actual address, and you can't even go that far to understand.
This isn't your school yard pussy, you should only use name-calling for emphasis. Not for debate.
Here is my prediction, you will have written dozens of replys to my single challenge, which is that TYT lied about the quality of care ranking... literally dozens, and you will never, ever, in that time, show anything from the WHO report that refutes it.
You are a noise machine. A crying child with a soiled diaper... struggling to refute something you have no hope to do... but like a child, you will continue to make noise...
Keep flailing, little boy... you have been called out.
I suggest the next time you start stroking yourself with complements and telling yourself you own people, you should take your own advice and read.
Instead of opening your mouth and proving to the world what a dumbass you are, even though you supposedly 'read' the same information before spewing out the wrong facts and need someone to waste their time correcting your stupidity.
But don't worry, no need to say thinks. It's an annoying job, but I gotta clean up America from pricks like you =)
And I suggest you quit acting like a four year old, and show everyone how we rank 37th in quality of care according to the WHO report, which is what the issue is.
Oh that's right, you are a child, and you can't even pronounce "issue" let alone track one and respond to it in an intelligent way.
Buzz off, child. Grow some manly bits and come back in a decade, and maybe you might be able to follow along.
TYT LIED about the ranking, and you have yet to prove otherwise. Put up, b*tch.
Ya statistics say were ranked 37 but that is a bunch of bullshit........If you have MONEY........you know that green stuff that most good people work for......then you can go see doctors.........but if your broke and have no job then ofcourse you want to pass some B/S healthcare system........these people are brainwashed and desperate bums. When will we keep rewarding failure in this country and maybe start rewarding SUCCESS.......makes no sense to me
Edgar.... I have money .... but I cant get private health care because of a pre existing condition I was born with .... real fair system there buddy... maybe it's YOU that needs to understand true success and a human being ... wake up before your denied care in your time of need... DONT THINK it cant happen... insurance companies look for every avenue to avoid medical losses.... be careful.....
It is kind of amazing some people think health costs are like buying a car or any other commercial proposition (eg: all the insurance co-sponsored posts on Youtube, by varying "people"). You can plan to buy a car or a house: it's your own responsibility and your money allocation--but you can't plan a medical affliction. Not the same. I simply note one anti-health plan person on Ytube had her two fave videos as a) a revolver shooting into a tank, and b) a clip of Milton F'man on "Greed". True!!
I never said denying people healthcare is socialist, but taxing the rich even more to give to the poor is. Mayer try and get your facts straight before u start calling people names
Guys if u don't like America and what it stands for (it seems this Turk guy doesn't) then leave. Go move to France and sing Kumbaya with ur little socialist friends
This is the dumbest comment ever. You think refusing people healthcare based on their ability to pay is what America stands for? You obviously don't know what socialism is because this hc reform is not it. Its a public OPTION meaning take it or don't take it. Moron.
ya we would spend less on the army, but this turk fuck is waiting to drop a bom on this country.... if you dont like this country, LEAVE, trust me it will be a better place when your gone.
Because liberty is more important than life... and it is *way* more important than "health care".
That is why.
I'm sure that you are not aware that fully half of all Canadians... now 50 years into socialized medicine... believe that the government should DICTATE which regions doctors are allowed to work in.
Canadians are being predictably corrupted by beliefs like yours.
We are NOT CANADA. Stop scaring Americans into believing that the fabric of America will somehow change by giving 49 million Americans the LIBERTY of being sick and employed at the same time.
Everyone already has the liberty of being sick and employed... one has nothing to do with the other.
And liberty is ALWAYS at risk, and losses of liberty are regularly occurring.
Ask lawful citizen that had their guns illegally confiscated in New Orleans, or the unconstitutional handgun ban in D.C. that left that population defenseless for so many years, suffering insane amounts of violent and deadly crime.
The responsible thing would be to euthanize those without the means to support themselves. I´m a republican and a millionaire and I don´t wish to pay their bills.
Reuters: U.S. Treas sold $39 billion in five-year debt Wednesday in an auction that drew poor demand, raising worries over the cost of financing the govt burgeoning budget deficit.
The second lackluster showing in as many days, convincing analysts that the stellar results of debt auctions just a few weeks ago were a fluke and that Thurs $28 billion seven-year offering could suffer a similar fate.
Why worry about healtcare, the US economy is ready to collapse. Without money no healthcare
Good point. Even socialist Europe is starting to change its mind, now that they have an influx of poor people who contribute little to the economy itself.
This bill will create more job loss. I thought the Monkey in Charge, was suppose to create or save jobs. More people will loss jobs than find jobs. OOPS! "Faux"bama dose it again.
You racist piece of garbage. You are a slim ball piece of crap. These shithead Republicans really don't wont healthcare reform because they are scared of the medicare lobbyists who give them money so they can get them elected. So shut you racist piece of shit!!!!!! More competition dumbass equals more jobs in any a freemarket economy. Go back to your klan meeting you bastard ass whore!
It's a very enlightening read for anyone interested in learning more about why it is pretty much useless to try and compare infant deaths between countries.
ranked 37 by who you turk ? rich people come from all over the world so they can splurge, that is the weakest shit ive ever heard! david gregory a self professed liberal presses mitch mcconell how weird. this turk idiot is obviously a bears fan and he lives in his mothers basement
every one knows th world health org is just like the nobel prize committee giving kudos to there conrads and turning a blind eye to true science. you probably think the united nations is full of noble do gooders to huh!!!
I think the point the guy makes at around 3:30 is partially valid. I need to explain this, though. Yes, we do have King X, Y, or Z come here for healthcare because we have some of the best practicioners and facilities in the world. It's just that said King has so much expendable money, it's not a problem. Whereas citizens here cannot afford the same treatment the King got. Overall, I guess our healthcare is the best, but the system and how it works is the worst.
The point the guy makes at 3:30 is ridiculous. He keeps poining to surveys taken by the american people, most of whom have probably never been treated in a non-american hospital. They are being partially patriotic in their answers, but also have nothing to compare our system to. Its like surveying someone that has eaten exclusively burger king their whole life and asking is BK or mcdonalds better. The survey itself is fundementally flawed.
I'm not necessarily referring to the poll he points to, but that we have better healthcare providers, and that the cost is the problem. I do think our doctors are better, but I don't really know. But my guess is that's why they always refer to a king or prime minister.
What is the point of having the most advanced treatments and the best doctors available (after you sort through all the ones that aren't worth their salt) if so few have access to said health care. Even for those that have health insurance it is like pulling teeth to get the companies to pay for it, particularly the cutting edge stuff. I know, my Mom was one of those people at the hospital that was the had to call the insurance companies to get treatments approved.
it pisses me off when republicans say that we have the best healthcare system in the world, when our infant mortality rates are through the roof... we have the most expensive healthcare in the world...
Compared to whose rates, exactly? We're actually relatively high. Most medical innovation (especially pharmaceuticals) come out of American laboratories, funded by private companies. These companies must create good drugs, or else they lose everything and wind up going nowhere; the US government doesn't have that problem. To give all people free health coverage would mean that we lose all accountability. If someone smokes his entire life, I have no problem with it, but if I must pay for it...
Compared to other industrialized nations. We are 50th in the world for infant mortality rates.
"Most medical innovation (especially pharmaceuticals) come out of American laboratories, funded by private companies."
I don't speak for others, but I don't care about pharm companies being private or for-profit. They produce something of value and do need a potion of the profit for R&D. I do have a problem with for-profit insurance companies though.
to the rest of the world maybe, you call 37th in the world high? Im sorry but for the amount of money that is spent on healthcare in this country we should be able to cover everyone... Peoples healthcare should come before profit and its shameful that the richest country in the world can't give its own people appropriate healthcare... and 2/3 of americans agree with healthcare reform
You're opening a can of worms with that. Whose money? You can't just create money out of nothing; somebody has to pay for it, i.e., the middle class. If you reward people for having no means to care for themselves, they will continue to do so. It makes sense; from the time we started welfare until now, our economy and standards of living have grown tremendously, yet our welfare has not dramatically decreased with the growing prosperity. Why? Because unproductive people are rewarded, that's why.
The public option will kill private insurance, since the government-subsidized plan will make it unprofitable to run their business. And I know liberals hate this, but companies exist to make a profit.
"the government-subsidized plan will make it unprofitable to run their business"
It will only be subsidized for those who can't afford to pay the premium for the public insurance. Good if it makes it unprofitable. Health care is one of those things that shouldn't be for-profit. Making money off the misery of others is distasteful and cruel. Fuck for-profit insurance they should all be forced to be non-profit.
Still I have heard nothing about the illegal aliens getting taxpayer funded healthcare. I think even you liberals know that will go over like a led ballon to the American people. Even liberals wont touch that subject, although Pelosi put the covarage of illegals in the bill. THis, despite the overwhelming percentage of Americans who have already stated they dont want the illegals here.
The system is chaotic, IMMENSELY expensive, confusing to deal with, doesn't cover 20% of the population, and mainly serves to generate obscene profits for insurance companies. It's a for-profit system and that's what is geared to do - make profits. It is NOT designed (well, that's a big part of the problem - it's not designed at all - it just "emerged" or evolved via "market forces") to keep the populace healthy - which is what a health care system should be all about. It needs major fixing.
You help the 47,000,000 (some of which are illegals), then you ruin the best healthcare in the world for those who can afford it. The 47 million can go somewhere else.
47 million people, 40 million or so which are actual citizens, can "go somewhere else"????????? What planet do you live on anyway?? Decent health care should be as firm and solid a right as freedom of speech or freedom of religion: good health care should not be just "for those who can afford it".... what kind of society would it be where those who can't afford to live are just permitted to die, or given second-rate medical services because they are not as wealthy as others?
Where on the constitution does it say that heralthcare is a right like free speech? Nowhere in the constitution. Hamilton warned against hre govt giving away peoples money to the have-nots. He said it will be the beggining of the end for America. Jefferson warned that when the have-nots start taking from the haves, it will be Americas end.
But go ahead, ignore the founders. They knew nothing, right?
I am saying it SHOULD be a right.... because without good health care, people die earlier and live more miserable lives - phrases like "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" mean nothing if you are ill and can't afford decent care. As far as the Founding Fathers are concerned, ignoring them is a popular passtime: Jeffereson STRONGLY warned against giving "monied corporations" too much influence. That VERY wise advice was thrown out the window long ago: the USA is run by corporations now.
yeah, "The REAL owners of America, forget the politicians, they're just there to give the illusion you have a choice...you don't" -George Carlin. Great skit.
and to think, it primarily started with edgar kaiser and Nixon. When you have a dick in the white house and someone who is thinking of nothin' but his own balls, you have them both in your ass! lol!
Your right corporations should not have a monopoly on the goverent. And also, the goverment should not provide things for the people...it is not the goverments job.
Actually, "Providing things for the people" IS one of the fundamental purposes of government - the concept of "for the common good" is firmly ensconced in the constitution, and payment for the things which are for "the common good", such as education, defence, roads, regulatory systems, treaties, foreign policy structures, public water systems..... is on a "those who can afford to pay more, are required to do so" basis. In most countries, health care is also seen as an "essential service".
Actually, providing free stuff is NOT the goverments purpose. Water systems? The people pay a monthly water bill. Roads? That is state taxes that pay for that...and sales tax. And EVERYONE PAYS. not just "the wealthy", which is the have-nots taking from the haves. The "robin hood" mentality will not fly in America. Besides, goverment is terrible at handling SS, plus medicare, so theyll do better with this?
For the 4th time, you have not mentioned the illegal aliens being covered.
Do you not realize that the public option will BRING DOWN government costs? Furthermore NOT everyone would be paying for the public option. ONLY those who receive government funded health care. Something tells me you think medicare and SS are bad ideas. YOU ARE FUCKING CRAZY!?!? "Robbin hood" mentality?? Who the fuck are you, the sheriff of Nottingham??
Yes, I represent most Americans as the Sherriff. And the House just announced the bill FAILED! IT WILL NOT MEET THE AUGUST DEADLINE! You know what that means? No Obamacare! Bahahaha!
Medicare and SS are in horrible shape. Obamacare would of dwarfed them.
So, we the people win. Thanks to the GOP, the blue dog dems, and the media. You liberals are losing steam now, and 2010 is coming. You pushed to far to the left.
Yeah, people are dying as we speak of treatable diseases thanks to your Grand Old Party and those blue bitch dems. Most of the country is FOR the government health care option, which could treat these people who can't afford the outrageous prices of private insurance. You are outright machiavellian in nature. You are a sadist. Your mind is criminal in nature. You probably think everyone who makes less than a certain amount of income deserves to be spat upon. Go back to the fucking medieval ages.
No, I am for healthcare for the 25 million who dont have it. my plan covers those who do not have any, and I call it "USA Care". It is second class health care, and those on it would have to wait in lines just like those on state-run health care plans now. However, by making sure it is second class, that would keep people who can afford their own, off of "USA care". Kind of like goverment housing...you dont get those families 100,000 dollar houses...like that.
Yeah, like I said, you piss on the poor and tell them it's raining. You really are a sadistic person. Poor people are not second class citizens just because they can't afford insanely expensive insurance plans. Do you have any idea how much undeserved profits those greedy monopolistic insurance companies make each year? It's in the billions! They can afford a little competition! But apparently not in your opinion because you don't believe that lower class suffering matters. Shame on you.
Shame on me? I want to cover those in need...with "USA Care". Yes keep it second class, you cannot encourage people to drop their health insurance to get free USA Care. If housing projects were 100,000 dollar houses, people would just abandon their house payments and move into housing projects! I mean come on, even you should see the logic.
I would make insurance companies compete nationally, that would drive down costs. And pull our troops out of 130 nations, that saves a trillion a year.
You say poor people are not second class citizens because they cant afford healthcare. Ok, poor are not second class because they cant afford a new car plus car insurance. Should the goverment buy everyone a new car and insurance for it?
Ill make a deal. You slow immigration down to 500,000 a year MAX, and I will push the GOP for natinalized health care. Has to be a trade-off...no free ride. Deal?
You see seantube85, the American people dont like the idea of supporting the 3rd world. And most of the immigration coming in is 3rd world. So you slow that down, and most conservatives would give you what you want. Youh have to be willing to trade...
US healthcare sux n it does need reform but i dont believe in passing a bill in 15 days to reform our whole healthcare system... its something that if not thought out is gonna cost us a lot of money
Cenk is right and Wendal Potter former vp of Cigna Public Relations said this is what we would see. He is a non-disgruntled speaking out against the insurance industry. That was two weeks ago on Bill Moyer on PBS. He had masterminded some of the industry methods to kill health reform with scare tactics. Currently we have "corporations between doctors and patients".
In our system you don't die, just go broke. You don't get turned away either. Even if your broke.
The developed countries that have a so called "better" system have no where near America's population of 304 million. Also most of those countries populations have healthier lifestyles. And just because someone doesn't have insurance doesn't they don't get treatment.
I'm all for reform, but slow it down. Nothing good happens when bills are rushed through bottom line.
"Also most of those countries populations have healthier lifestyles." That's partly because the countries with better health care have stricter guidelines for food then Americans do. For example, the legal amount of sodium allowed in food in the States is nearly twice that of the EU. This contributes to diabetes and heart conditions as well as other problems. For some reason the FDA just doesn't want to lower the max sodium for some reason.
Dead people don't make these people money, neither do healthy people. It is, by far, more lucrative to keep the general populace sick and dependent on their pharmadrugs.
Your videos are boorish and unprofessional. Whie I feel that we need to have some reform to our healthcare and oversight for insurance companies, nationalizing our system will not work. Doctors will NOT take a cut in pay, they will leave the country or stop practicing. The dems are all ideals and no reason on this, and this is way too important for that type of logic.
Greedy doctors? You are clueless and ignorant. As someone who has doctors as clients, I know first hand they will only work a few months to earn what they worked for, then will not work the rest of the year. Doctors have high expenses and risks, and they deserve what they make according to their expertise. This system will force people to work less and earn less, but it's still going to leave those lacking in care.
deadened - they (doctors) will only work a few months to earn what they worked for, then will not work the rest of the year.
No wonder there is such long wait times for people to see one! Troy Brennan, chief medical officer of Aetna, said (March 2007) people are waiting an average of about 70 days to try to see a provider and in many circumstances people initially diagnosed with cancer are waiting over a month for needed medical care. If not greedy then what?
Every doctor I have known works a tremendous amount, often missing lots of time with their family. The waiting list has nothing to do with the doctors personally, and has everything to do with the demand they can't keep up with. Cutting their income won't increase the number of doctors, or hours they will to work. I agree with some kind of reform, and think one thing the government could do is provide affordable treatment centers for asthma + diabetes, diseases that are very manageable.

Everyone else should pay for own ins.
mvies77 1 year ago
@mvies77 Ok I have minimal health coverage ok. What would happen if a truck ran me down, I was rushed to the hospital, and the ER brought me back to life? Would the doctors say, 'Welcome back, but your insurance company would not pay up.' Give me the keys to your house and car cos you owe us 250 million dollars. Seriously, is that how the system works? W@ould be in debt forever all b ecause some surgeon saved my life. Bear in mind, I never chose to see the ER. Would I still have to pay?
pluto4847 1 year ago
@mvies77
Here are my questions.
a) If a truck ran me over, and I was rushed to the ER, would they have to check with my insurance company first?
b) After the surgeons bring me back, would I be in debt?
c) If I refused treatment, could the doctors legally prevent me from leaving hence putting more strain on my insurance company?
Its a real scary thought. Could you please explain how these things work? I appreciate it.
pluto4847 1 year ago
@pluto4847 You are being facetious but here is my answer. You can always refuse care and freely leave. They do not provide care based on your insurance in the ER. Finally, there are many ways that your med bill can be paid if you do not have the means. I have personally experienced this and did not go into lifelong debt. State, Fed and philanthropic funds are given to those in need and catastrophic cases.
mvies77 1 year ago
They want to splurge? They come here to splurge? What are you talking about? This healthcare bill is too expensive, unwieldy, destructive and we start paying immediately for a bill that does not go into effect until 2012. Socialized med does not work. We need to start over and streamline this care. Better yet, let each state form a plan and allow interstate insurance coverage. Back room politics, bribes, it all smells.

Its not republican or democrat everyone. There is something wrong with our society when we have to rely on the government to take care of us. We should be reaching out to each other for support.

After they adopted a socialized system the life expectancy gap between our countries shrank.
freethinker77 2 years ago
@freethinker77

We're ranked 37 not because our quality is lower, but because our system is not 'fair'. The WHO factors in 'fairness' into ranking, in addition to quality.

Here is your problem. Ignorance.
You don't even know what the ranking is *for*. 37 out of 191 in what way?
The fact is, you are not even smart enough to understand that you ought to know what the ranking is about, before you open your hole.
Since you probably have the attention span of a fly, I remind you we are talking about a quality of care ranking.
Go away, child... I have no time for you.

Homieathome 2 years ago
*Many governments fail to prevent a "black market" in health, where widespread corruption, bribery, "moonlighting" and other illegal practices flourish. The black markets, which themselves are caused by malfunctioning health systems, and low income of health workers, further undermine those systems.
*Many health ministries fail to enforce regulations that they themselves have created or are supposed to implement in the public interest. "
How's that for reading?

Canadians are being predictably corrupted by beliefs like yours.
The issue is NOT health. It is liberty.
RyderSpearmann 2 years ago
NO ONE'S LIBERTY IS BEING REMOVED.
We are NOT CANADA. Stop scaring Americans into believing that the fabric of America will somehow change by giving 49 million Americans the LIBERTY of being sick and employed at the same time.
Homieathome 2 years ago
Idiot.

But that would cost a lot of money. Since at that point only the wealthy will be left they'd have to pay for it.

JoeyBieg 2 years ago
The point the guy makes at 3:30 is ridiculous. He keeps poining to surveys taken by the american people, most of whom have probably never been treated in a non-american hospital. They are being partially patriotic in their answers, but also have nothing to compare our system to. Its like surveying someone that has eaten exclusively burger king their whole life and asking is BK or mcdonalds better. The survey itself is fundementally flawed.
severe8403 2 years ago
I'm not necessarily referring to the poll he points to, but that we have better healthcare providers, and that the cost is the problem. I do think our doctors are better, but I don't really know. But my guess is that's why they always refer to a king or prime minister.
JoeyBieg 2 years ago
What is the point of having the most advanced treatments and the best doctors available (after you sort through all the ones that aren't worth their salt) if so few have access to said health care. Even for those that have health insurance it is like pulling teeth to get the companies to pay for it, particularly the cutting edge stuff. I know, my Mom was one of those people at the hospital that was the had to call the insurance companies to get treatments approved.
cg66079 2 years ago
My best guess is so that the rich in this country have easier access to them. It's totally fucked up though.

it pisses me off when republicans say that we have the best healthcare system in the world, when our infant mortality rates are through the roof... we have the most expensive healthcare in the world...
Tavera12 2 years ago
Compared to whose rates, exactly? We're actually relatively high. Most medical innovation (especially pharmaceuticals) come out of American laboratories, funded by private companies. These companies must create good drugs, or else they lose everything and wind up going nowhere; the US government doesn't have that problem. To give all people free health coverage would mean that we lose all accountability. If someone smokes his entire life, I have no problem with it, but if I must pay for it...
FightDPower 2 years ago
"Compared to whose rates, exactly?"
I do have a problem with for-profit insurance companies though.
cg66079 2 years ago
to the rest of the world maybe, you call 37th in the world high? Im sorry but for the amount of money that is spent on healthcare in this country we should be able to cover everyone... Peoples healthcare should come before profit and its shameful that the richest country in the world can't give its own people appropriate healthcare... and 2/3 of americans agree with healthcare reform
Tavera12 2 years ago
You're opening a can of worms with that. Whose money? You can't just create money out of nothing; somebody has to pay for it, i.e., the middle class. If you reward people for having no means to care for themselves, they will continue to do so. It makes sense; from the time we started welfare until now, our economy and standards of living have grown tremendously, yet our welfare has not dramatically decreased with the growing prosperity. Why? Because unproductive people are rewarded, that's why.
FightDPower 2 years ago
The public option will kill private insurance, since the government-subsidized plan will make it unprofitable to run their business. And I know liberals hate this, but companies exist to make a profit.
c71clark 2 years ago
"The public option will kill private insurance"
Only if they can't compete
"the government-subsidized plan will make it unprofitable to run their business"
It will only be subsidized for those who can't afford to pay the premium for the public insurance. Good if it makes it unprofitable. Health care is one of those things that shouldn't be for-profit. Making money off the misery of others is distasteful and cruel. Fuck for-profit insurance they should all be forced to be non-profit.
cg66079 2 years ago
You should know that the health plan's used by politicians, including Kennedy, is run by a private company, not the government.

noformstyle 2 years ago
The system is chaotic, IMMENSELY expensive, confusing to deal with, doesn't cover 20% of the population, and mainly serves to generate obscene profits for insurance companies. It's a for-profit system and that's what is geared to do - make profits. It is NOT designed (well, that's a big part of the problem - it's not designed at all - it just "emerged" or evolved via "market forces") to keep the populace healthy - which is what a health care system should be all about. It needs major fixing.
HolyMotherofGrid 2 years ago
You help the 47,000,000 (some of which are illegals), then you ruin the best healthcare in the world for those who can afford it. The 47 million can go somewhere else.
calimar28 2 years ago
47 million people, 40 million or so which are actual citizens, can "go somewhere else"????????? What planet do you live on anyway?? Decent health care should be as firm and solid a right as freedom of speech or freedom of religion: good health care should not be just "for those who can afford it".... what kind of society would it be where those who can't afford to live are just permitted to die, or given second-rate medical services because they are not as wealthy as others?
HolyMotherofGrid 2 years ago
Where on the constitution does it say that heralthcare is a right like free speech? Nowhere in the constitution. Hamilton warned against hre govt giving away peoples money to the have-nots. He said it will be the beggining of the end for America. Jefferson warned that when the have-nots start taking from the haves, it will be Americas end.
But go ahead, ignore the founders. They knew nothing, right?
calimar28 2 years ago
I am saying it SHOULD be a right.... because without good health care, people die earlier and live more miserable lives - phrases like "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" mean nothing if you are ill and can't afford decent care. As far as the Founding Fathers are concerned, ignoring them is a popular passtime: Jeffereson STRONGLY warned against giving "monied corporations" too much influence. That VERY wise advice was thrown out the window long ago: the USA is run by corporations now.
HolyMotherofGrid 2 years ago
yeah, "The REAL owners of America, forget the politicians, they're just there to give the illusion you have a choice...you don't" -George Carlin. Great skit.
and to think, it primarily started with edgar kaiser and Nixon. When you have a dick in the white house and someone who is thinking of nothin' but his own balls, you have them both in your ass! lol!
gredangeo 2 years ago
Your right corporations should not have a monopoly on the goverent. And also, the goverment should not provide things for the people...it is not the goverments job.
calimar28 2 years ago
Actually, "Providing things for the people" IS one of the fundamental purposes of government - the concept of "for the common good" is firmly ensconced in the constitution, and payment for the things which are for "the common good", such as education, defence, roads, regulatory systems, treaties, foreign policy structures, public water systems..... is on a "those who can afford to pay more, are required to do so" basis. In most countries, health care is also seen as an "essential service".
HolyMotherofGrid 2 years ago
Actually, providing free stuff is NOT the goverments purpose. Water systems? The people pay a monthly water bill. Roads? That is state taxes that pay for that...and sales tax. And EVERYONE PAYS. not just "the wealthy", which is the have-nots taking from the haves. The "robin hood" mentality will not fly in America. Besides, goverment is terrible at handling SS, plus medicare, so theyll do better with this?
For the 4th time, you have not mentioned the illegal aliens being covered.
calimar28 2 years ago
Do you not realize that the public option will BRING DOWN government costs? Furthermore NOT everyone would be paying for the public option. ONLY those who receive government funded health care. Something tells me you think medicare and SS are bad ideas. YOU ARE FUCKING CRAZY!?!? "Robbin hood" mentality?? Who the fuck are you, the sheriff of Nottingham??
seanotube85 2 years ago
Yes, I represent most Americans as the Sherriff. And the House just announced the bill FAILED! IT WILL NOT MEET THE AUGUST DEADLINE! You know what that means? No Obamacare! Bahahaha!
Medicare and SS are in horrible shape. Obamacare would of dwarfed them.
So, we the people win. Thanks to the GOP, the blue dog dems, and the media. You liberals are losing steam now, and 2010 is coming. You pushed to far to the left.
calimar28 2 years ago
Yeah, people are dying as we speak of treatable diseases thanks to your Grand Old Party and those blue bitch dems. Most of the country is FOR the government health care option, which could treat these people who can't afford the outrageous prices of private insurance. You are outright machiavellian in nature. You are a sadist. Your mind is criminal in nature. You probably think everyone who makes less than a certain amount of income deserves to be spat upon. Go back to the fucking medieval ages.
seanotube85 2 years ago
No, I am for healthcare for the 25 million who dont have it. my plan covers those who do not have any, and I call it "USA Care". It is second class health care, and those on it would have to wait in lines just like those on state-run health care plans now. However, by making sure it is second class, that would keep people who can afford their own, off of "USA care". Kind of like goverment housing...you dont get those families 100,000 dollar houses...like that.
calimar28 2 years ago
Yeah, like I said, you piss on the poor and tell them it's raining. You really are a sadistic person. Poor people are not second class citizens just because they can't afford insanely expensive insurance plans. Do you have any idea how much undeserved profits those greedy monopolistic insurance companies make each year? It's in the billions! They can afford a little competition! But apparently not in your opinion because you don't believe that lower class suffering matters. Shame on you.
seanotube85 2 years ago
Shame on me? I want to cover those in need...with "USA Care". Yes keep it second class, you cannot encourage people to drop their health insurance to get free USA Care. If housing projects were 100,000 dollar houses, people would just abandon their house payments and move into housing projects! I mean come on, even you should see the logic.
I would make insurance companies compete nationally, that would drive down costs. And pull our troops out of 130 nations, that saves a trillion a year.

Nothing good happens when bills are rushed through bottom line.
stewy357 2 years ago
"Also most of those countries populations have healthier lifestyles." That's partly because the countries with better health care have stricter guidelines for food then Americans do. For example, the legal amount of sodium allowed in food in the States is nearly twice that of the EU. This contributes to diabetes and heart conditions as well as other problems. For some reason the FDA just doesn't want to lower the max sodium for some reason.

This system will force people to work less and earn less, but it's still going to leave those lacking in care.
deadened 2 years ago
deadened - they (doctors) will only work a few months to earn what they worked for, then will not work the rest of the year.
Lynx787 2 years ago
Every doctor I have known works a tremendous amount, often missing lots of time with their family. The waiting list has nothing to do with the doctors personally, and has everything to do with the demand they can't keep up with. Cutting their income won't increase the number of doctors, or hours they will to work. I agree with some kind of reform, and think one thing the government could do is provide affordable treatment centers for asthma + diabetes, diseases that are very manageable.
